Polish team after their historical first team victory in a World Cup competition, Klingenthal World Cup 2016/2017
Maciek: We did what we said - we showed our rivals we are strong and they should be scared of us. (…) But we need to remember that it’s just a beginning, our goal is to keep our shapes on the equally good level ‘till the end of the season. (…) We’re not gonna celebrate it. Tomorrow’s a new day, new competition. I guess we’re just gonna eat a good supper, that’s all.
Piotrek: [I guess you can say it was a good day for you. First historical win.] What? It’s us that won the competition? (laugh) Yeah, it was a great day. (…) I guess coach Horngacher couldn’t imagine a better start of his first season with us. We jumped our good, high leveled jumps and it let us win. (…) Sure, it’s still a lot to work on but I’m happy that my jumps have this good, high level. (…) We didn’t count for the win, we counted for a podium in general. The very moment we saw the line in Maciek’s jumps, we were like: “Wow, what kind of miracles are going on our there?”
Dawid: For me it’s not the first historical win. I participated during one SGP in Hinterzarten, when we, together with Adam Małysz, won for the very first time. In general. (…) I guess it’s a great gift for him. I wish him all the best on his birthday ‘cause I didn’t get the chance to do it personally. (…) Conditions were surprisingly equal so I’m even prouder because we didn’t get the win. I owned it.
Kamil: …cause it was first historical win. It was first, right? (laugh) (…) I needed jumps like the ones from yesterday, they made me sure it’s all okay. (…) We have very strong, equal team - not only the four of us from today but including the trio that stayed at the hotel. Coach can loosely choose and just set the jumping order. (…)
- I have to say, I was in a shock when I saw you being unsatified after the second jump.
- After the second one? Naaah, the jump was okay, I was mad at my landing.
- Did you feel the fans’ support?
- Sure. My fanclub is like very reliable and perfect. I saw a few people from Maciek’s and Dawid’s fanclubs and, of course, many Polish supporters… Super.
