“We don’t receive wisdom; we must discover it for ourselves after a journey that no one can take for us or spare us.”
— Marcel Proust
“Everyone you meet always asks if you have a career, are married or own a house; as if life was some kind of grocery list. But nobody ever asks if you are happy.”
— Heath Ledger
“You have to have your heart broken. That’s the reality of life and if you are protected from this sadness, then how can you grow? How can you recognize real happiness when you see it?”
— Marion Cotillard
“So, what if, instead of thinking about solving your whole life, you just think about adding additional good things. One at a time. Just let your pile of good things grow.” — Rainbow Rowell, Attachments

“Being solitary is being alone well: being alone luxuriously immersed in doings of your own choice, aware of the fullness of your own presence rather than of the absence of others. Because solitude is an achievement.”
— Alice Koller
“I still love books. Nothing a computer can do can compare to a book. You can’t really put a book on the Internet. Three companies have offered to put books by me on the Net, and I said, ‘If you can make something that has a nice jacket, nice paper with that nice smell, then we’ll talk.’ All the computer can give you is a manuscript. People don’t want to read manuscripts. They want to read books. Books smell good. They look good. You can press it to your bosom. You can carry it in your pocket.” — Ray Bradbury
Let us train our minds to desire what the situation demands.
Someday, somewhere — anywhere, unfailingly, you'll find yourself, and that, and only that, can be the happiest or bitterest hour of your life.
— Pablo Neruda
“Your “I CAN” is more important than your IQ.”
— Robin S. Sharma
“When what you hear and what you see don’t match, trust your eyes.”
— Dale Renton
The thing about sadness
You’ll be walking down the street, or scrolling aimlessly through your phone, or even eating your favorite meal or talking to your favorite person and you’ll think to yourself “life is good. I’m happy. Nothing could ever make me sad again if I can just be right where I am right now all the time”.
The world listens.
And suddenly, you are repeating that very exact day over and over and over.
At first you feel relaxed. You feel like you have all the time in the world to be as great as you’ve always wanted to be. You may now reconnect with your long lost friends. You may watch that long list of movies you’ve always wanted to watch. You may pick up cooking and baking again. You can do anything, literally anything and that is when it hits you.
You realize that it was never the lack of time or the world’s pressure that pinned you to your bed every morning and didn’t let you move.
It was you.
Little sad you.
Consumed by the fear of ever doing anything or accomplishing anything cause you know you’ll fail. You know you’re just not special enough. Talented enough. Smart enough. You see all these people moving on with their lives in the most creative ways from the comfort of their homes, while you sit still like you always have chained by your own unworthiness.

“I have feelings too. I am still human. All I want is to be loved, for myself and for my talent.”
— Marilyn Monroe
Too many years fighting back tears. Why can't the past just die? Wishing you were somehow here again, knowing we must say goodbye. Try to forgive, teach me to live, give me the strength to try! No more memories, no more silent tears, no more gazing across the wasted years. Help me say goodbye.
The Phantom of the Opera,1986
