I added the numbers in a high-visibility way in case the image was hard to read for people.
This is insane.
My thought based on that summary was that this would functionally mean very little (you can say you're removing the white supremacists, but then not identify any of them) - but the amendment is also to "compel government officials to prepare a report on combating white supremacists and neo-Nazi activity in the police and military" (Newsweek). So it is actually to definitely do something, and every Republican voted against it. Don't stop at voting, but yeah, that matters.
It was one of Crowleyโs better achievements. It had taken years to achieve, and had involved three computer hacks, two break-ins, one minor bribery and, on one wet night when all else had failed, two hours in a squelchy field shifting the marker pegs a few but occultly incredibly significant meters. When Crowley had watched the first thirty-mile-long tailback heโd experienced the lovely warm feeling of a bad job well done.
It had earned him a commendation.
Can we, can we talk about this for a moment? I need to talk about this for a moment.
This, the boredom, the apathy, the thinly veiled disdain, this is Hell happy with Crowley. This is what they look like when theyโre about to give him a commendation. He gets a commendation for this project. Itโs so popular that Satan mentions it decades later (instead of mentioning something else Crowley has supposedly done, like the Spanish Inquisition or World War II). Like, look at the senior demons. These are their happy faces.
I mean, the book and script book arenโt even very subtle on their hints that his superiors will be happy to torture Crowley if he does something to displease them (and it sounds like this wouldnโt be a first time). Even the things that stayed in the final version of the show make it obvious that Hell is happy to dole out violence not even only as punishment, but as a daily regular occurrence. Their paperwork burns your fingers when you sign it, you might find yourself thrown into a Hellhound cage as a snack because you happened to walk byโฆ Hell is cruel, and itโs open about it, and I think this is the form of Hellโs violence we see more easily and focus on. We see Hellโs physical violence, and Heavenโs gaslighting and cold indifference.
But Heaven and Hell are the same. Sandalphon is as happy to punch Aziraphale as Hastur would be to punch Crowley. โWeโre angels, we do Goodโ is exactly the same empty doctrine as โwe are the Fallen, never forget thatโ.
We see Aziraphale reporting to Heaven only about the Antichrist thing, but we hear him say what other instances were like: he isnโt consulted on policy decisions. Heaven doesnโt care one bit for Aziraphaleโs work and effort, and this being completely ignored is one of the ways they hurt him.
Itโs easier to assume Hell is more active in their hurting Crowley, but this, up there? Thatโs the same thing. Itโs so easy to swap the colour scheme of the room and imagine itโs Aziraphale giving a presentation on something he is doing, and the reactions will be the same. Bored, detached, uncaring, apathic. Heaven might add fake enthusiastic clapping, but thatโll be it.
And, again, this is a scene of Crowley giving a presentation that will be favourably conceived! This is a good reaction! Probably the best he can hope for! Especially for a personal project he actually did, and not some human atrocity he just took credit for. Crowley has fun doing his own brand of mischievous temptations. Like the telephone stuff, he is proud of the M25. And the best thing he can hope to get is this.
The best you can achieve in Hell (and in Heaven, I think, because theyโre the same) is indifference (and absence of punishment).
Thank Someone Aziraphale and Crowley have each other to be enthusiastic about anything they do with, even if itโs little things.
Great points (too spot on to keep in the tags) by @dubiousduckears
once you understand that a vibrator is an accessibility tool, your understanding of disabled issues and of the world really widens
most people only think of accessibility tools in a barebones kind of way. a ramp is needed to physically enter spaces, a cane is needed so i donโt fall over while standing, captions are needed to literally be able to understand words being spoken.
some people go a little farther and understand them in terms of daily life functions, like adaptive clothing, or pre-cut food. still, these things are only seen as needing access tools because theyโre baseline human functions. eating. walking. wearing clothes.
my vibrator is an access tool. because of my conditions, i canโt hold my hand where it needs to be long enough to masturbate. masturbating isnโt a necessary human function. i will not die if i donโt do it. i wonโt lose my job if i donโt do it.
but the thing about a vibrator, is that it makes an aspect of life that i want to enjoy possible. disabled access is not only about the barebones basic necessities to literally be alive. if someone wants to have orgasms, a vibrator is an important tool to a pleasurable life. food delivery makes eating delicious food possible. sensory friendly live performances makes enjoying theatre and music possible. shower seats mean people can sit and enjoy a long shower that otherwise would have exhausted them. service dogs let people go out with their friends when they wouldnโt have otherwise.ย my cane doesnโt just help me walk, it helps me keep balance while iโm dancing at the club.
disabled people deserve so much more than to just get by. we deserve to have full, pleasurable lives, to experience all the kinds of things that able-bodied people get to experience too. access tools are meant to help us not only survive, but to really thrive too
I literally said โYES!!!โ out loud and then started reading this post out loud to my wife, and by the time I was finished reading it, I was crying, because this is it. This is the shit. This is the truth.
There is a sort of punitive mindset when it comes to disability โ you cannot ask for accommodations if you donโt really need them, it has to be for something essential, something you canโt live without, canโt do your job without. I think this โ in the end โ comes from the very ableist idea that people arenโt disabled unless they have somehow failed to not be disabled. The Puritain mindset which says that disability is a punishment for failing to be good โ somehow โ and that it is a punishment for sin โ somehow โ informs this particularly noxious bit of garbage.
If you want help, you have to suffer for it, because you wouldnโt be in this situation at all if you didnโt deserve it somehow โ and that goes double if the help that you need is disability payments or Medicaid/Medicare or something else thatโs an โentitlementโ. If disabled people arenโt in sackcloth and ashes, they canโt really need help.
And like, fuck that, actually, and fuck the idea that only โgoodโ disabled people deserve accommodations? Even if my disability was the result of having driven my car recklessly and crashed it into a tree, I donโt deserve to never know joy again. Even if my diabetes were because I had eaten nothing but spoonfuls of confectionerโs sugar for three years, I donโt deserve to suffer.
Fuck the idea that only โgood cripplesโ who didnโt โdo this to themselvesโ deserve accommodations, and fuck the idea that disabled people donโt deserve the full experience of human life with all of its joy, all of its dancing, and yes, all of its orgasms.
does anyone have that picture of that fucked up looking white kitten that looks like this
this crinkled tissue??
YES!!!!!!!!!!
her name is nimbus and you all need to see her glow up
most โprotect the childrenโ campaigns come with the implication that whatโs best for children is 1950s white christian nuclear families and rigid adherence to the status quo, and having been a children I can definitively say that is very very incorrect

This kitty looks so mad
anyways i have yet to see a SWERF take about sex work that wouldn't be considered nonsensical about manual laborers. even though manual labor also has high rates of injury & disease & can ruin your body & many people in manual labor don't want to be there & would like to leave but only do it out of desperation & labor trafficking is a major issue and a ton of manual laborers are the victims of this, especially men of color & immigrant men (& transmascs & butches because historically they have found work in blue collar jobs) & more people probably benefit from this than people do with sex work, and yet TERFs dont seem at all interested in making manual labor illegal and shaming everyone who hires a maid, because that would obviously make things better for the blue collar workers who literally cannot get a different job.
