Alice gave an airy, soft laugh. “Glad you managed to notice that.” She almost hummed, allowing her gaze to travel down as another smile shifted her lips. “If I knew, I’d tell you. But I honestly don’t have a single clue.”
"I'm more observant than I seem." He boasted jokingly, letting out an over dramatic sigh at her words. "Fine, up you go then." Jon said before bending down and wrapping his arms securely around her waist and picking her up.
Alice rolled her eyes minimally, “Well you should know by now that I’m a very cryptic person.” She murmured, cracking a tiny smile.
Jon chuckled very lightly. "Yeah, I got that a while ago." He commented as he leaned down to kiss the top of her head. "What can I do to make things better then, huh?"
She shrugged a bit, shifting to take the other’s hand carefully. “Same thing as always, I guess.”
Jon smiled very slightly as he moved closer to her. "You know that that could pretty much be anything."
“I would tell you to smile or somethin’, but that’d be pretty hypocritical of me.”
The male held his hand out to the vampire. "What's wrong, sweetheart?"

A heavy sigh rose from the girl’s chest and her head shook slowly, expression pinching up. “When I’m back to normal, I’ll be even more stubborn than before. So there’s not way you’ll be able to convince me.” She explained, tone dead serious even if a light smile pulled pathetically at her lips. There was no way in hell she was going to allow him to make her think it was his fault, not when she knew it was hers.
Her sense of humor was still there, although it was but invisible and she was sure it couldn’t be heard in her words. “If I was human, I’m sure I would’ve gone permanently grey already.” Alice’s nose crinkled a bit at the sides, one eye squinting for a moment, and a smile, mildly stronger than before, shifted her features. “I could list off everyone who I think hates me, but I’m sure we’d be here for a few days. And I almost did, though, and even you can’t deny that.” She stated, lips pursing for a moment, “No it’s not.” The vampire contradicted, smile still lingering.
The sight of Jonathan’s smile brought her mood up quite a bit and she had to press her teeth gently against her lower lip to prevent her slight smile from getting any larger. Both brows shot up, fingers drumming lightly against his hand. “And how do you intend to try and do that?” She questioned curiously, her own head tilting minisculely.
She nudged her head gently against his chest, stifling a tiny, chuckle that threatened to break from her lips. “Well, majority of your life.” She shot back with a shrug. Alice made a small face, something that a child would make when disagreeing with a parent. “Maybe you should go and see every person in existence, might be a bit of a reality check for ya.” Her shoulders jerked up into a shrug, although her expression smoothed out into another muted smile.
Alice gave a frown, lips pursing again, “There’s no need to bring my height into this, that’s not fair game.” She retorted with a huff. She shook her head a bit, “Another thing you should really stop saying, because I might go out and try to prove you wrong. I’m sure there are things that I could do that’d make me absolutely repulsive.” She joked gently, although she really did appreciate his efforts in trying to make her believe what he thought of her.
Her expression faltered, relaxed, as her eyes slid shut for a couple seconds. “Really? I always knew there was something up with your eyesight.” She peeked her eyes open again, a teasing air feathering over her words. “Yeah, thanks but no thanks. I’d rather not do that.” Alice shook her head once, nose wiggling a bit.
Jon had to will himself not to roll his eyes at her statement, but the fact that he at least wanted to could probably still be seen on his features. "Well, I'm convinced, and I know that it's true, so..." He raised his shoulders into a defiant shrug. No matter what she said, he knew it was his fault that Alice had left, and it was definitely his fault that she had gotten hurt and was now covered in scars. He should have gone after her and protected her, not just let her go.
The immortal's face brightened a few shades with a smile from Alice's words. "You probably would be. Then you'd just look like a little old lady and people would offer to help you across the street." He teased gently, his fingers brushing through her hair, brown eyes watching it move between his fingers as if imagining what it would look like grey. Jonathan decided he really didn't care though. Letting out a small huff, the male offered the vampire a look of disbelief. "Alice, you would just be repeating your own name over and over." He assured her with a small kiss to her temple. "No you didn't." Was the muttered reply.
Jon's thumb floated up to her chin for a moment and he smiled, seeing only glimpses of how Alice used to be in her now, and that was more than enough. A pensive sigh fell from his lips as he looked up in faux thought. "I'll just keep telling you, and telling you, and telling you." He explained, placing kisses on her face every few words.
A ball of stray laughter collected at the bottom of his belly and the soldier shook his head. "Fair enough, but it doesn't mean much." He countered with a lone lifted eyebrow and a careless shrug of a single shoulder. Jon squinted one eye, and then the other as he appeared to be thinking over the other's suggestion. "That would take away time I could be spending with you though, and that is time much better spent." He reasoned with a nod, the fingers of his that were intertwined with hers squeezing them very slightly. "And I don't think it would be. No one will ever compare to you." He continued with another shrug, his demeanor suddenly becoming somewhat sheepish.
"Your lack of height is always fair game, sweetheart." Jon replied with a light titter, softly poking one of her cheeks to shoo away the frown. He didn't like when she frowned, even when it was jokingly since she only deserved to be happy. The male shook his head stubbornly back and forth, his jaw clenching a bit. "Nothing will ever make you repulsive to me, Alice, so you can stop trying to think of ideas for how t' do that." He mockingly accused, bumping her nose with his own. He truly meant every word of it, too.
A grin spread over his lips like a slow burning flame and his head only shook a few inches either way in disagreement. "Perfect vision. Probably beyond perfect, even." Jonathan insisted just above a whisper. His lips needed so much more of her than they were getting, which caused him to leave a constellation of kisses spanning over her cheeks and forehead. "I mean it though, the offer will always stand. I can guarantee that I'll eventually-- if I haven't already done something to make you mad enough to want to do that to me."
walking travesty // Alice and Jon
Alice slowly sunk back into her jittery demeanor, her sudden burst of frustration shutting off like someone had flipped a switch. Her gaze flickered away from Jonathan for a split second, the thought of him blaming himself all but broke the vampire’s heart. “You’ll wait until I’m better before you try and convince me it was your fault, right?” She teased half-heartedly, an eyebrow hiking slightly. She shifted on his lap, somehow managing to nuzzle herself impossible closer to the male, “Y’know, I’m sure there was a part of me that knew that. But I’m just a worrywart, as you already know.” Alice chuckled once, the sound still completely off, just like the rest of her. It was more than a little difficult for the girl to say what was on her mind, mostly in fear that she’d say the wrong thing or upset the werewolf; a habit she seemed to have picked up as of late. “O—okay.” She mumbled feebly, a rather guilty expression ghosting over her features, “But what if they do? I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised if most people hated me. You really shouldn’t say stuff like that, I might take advantage of it one day and fuck everything up.” She pointed out with another tiny smile, although when he kissed her nose, she screwed it up and went the slightest bit cross-eyed; mainly out of habit than anything more. “I know as well as you do that that’s probably impossible.” Alice reasoned with a shrug, a small head shake following. An odd warmth shifted to surge through her petite frame, something she hadn’t felt in what seemed like years. It wasn’t so much happiness as it was just complete and utter contentedness, which was an extremely welcoming feeling. This time, the female gave an eyeroll, only just catching the exasperated huff before it left her lips. “You’ve lived in the woods for majority of your life, it’s not like you’ve seen many people in the first place.” She retorted gently, a familiar joking air tinging her tone. “What if I was part cow or something? Doubt I’d be so gorgeous then.” Another small shiver quaked through her body, although it was feathered with happiness, and her fingers intertwined with his without a second thought. “Well, there’s nothing wrong with them, per say. It’s just kind of… I dunno, I guess I’ll get used to them or something.” Alice mused, bright orbs flickering to her once unmarked skin and a slight grimace pulled at her lips.
A small smile stained the werewolf's chapped lips at her words, and he nodded lightly. "Definitely." He confirmed softly, hesitantly bringing a hand up to her face to brush a thumb over her cheekbone. Of course it was his fault, and he would do anything to detract the blame from her and put it on him like he always did. When it doubt, it was his fault. That was just the way it had always been.
The effort alone that she put into trying to laugh for him was heart wrenching and it made the werewolf's face twist up just a bit. "Yeah, I know." Jon told her with a small nod, a quiet titter of his own falling from his mouth. The male shook his head, nudging Alice's cheek once again with his nose. Sometimes he really couldn't get out of his dog-like habits. "I'm about ninety nine percent sure that the only person who hates you is you, sweetheart. And you aren't going to fuck everything up, I promise. That's my job, anyways." He reasoned with a lopsided half smile.
Once Jonathan got a glimpse of the familiar, twisted up face of the vampire, he couldn't help the large smile that spread across his face. He had been taking everything for granted; her laughter, the faces she made, the way she spoke, everything. He sighed to himself, shaking his head to rid himself of his thoughts. "Well I'm still gonna try." Came the honest reply, coupled with a small tilt of his head so that he could get a better view of her flawless face.
This time his eyes rolled and he gave an odd smile. "I have not actually lived in the woods my whole life." Jon argued, although in reality he had. He never really realized how long that he had actually be out there. "And that doesn't matter. Even if I had seen all the people to ever exist I still know that you are the most beautiful." He explained with a kiss to her forehead.
Jonathan gave a huff although the smile unmasked how he truly felt. "I know that you are not part cow since if you were you'd be taller." He retorted with a single raised eyebrow. His features softened once again, "You are gorgeous no matter what and no matter what you say or think nothing is going to change that." He reiterated. Jon would say that as many times as she needed to hear it and a hundred more. He doubted that she would ever really believe it, but he would try with everything in him to convince her.
He continued to shower kisses on her jaw and creeping down less than half way down her neck. "I had barely even noticed them until a few minutes ago." He offered, placing a kiss just a hair away from her lips. "You could always beat the hell outta me and give me a bunch of scars so we can match, if y'want." Jon suggested with a smile, although he wouldn't give it a second thought if she really did want that.
I'm afraid that this is going to turn into the genderbent M!A thread all over
walking travesty // Alice and Jon
The vampire’s jaw steeled and she bit the inside of her cheek. “Don’t even try to argue with me on this, Jonathan. This was my fault, not yours, what I did was stupid. I had a breakdown and I couldn’t handle it. My fault, not yours.” Alice repeated as sternly as she could, even if she just sounded like a three year old throwing a tantrum. She wasn’t angry at him, far from it in fact, she was angry at herself for being the cause of him thinking it was his fault. She thought maybe getting away, just for a few days, might help in some way but it clearly backfired. And the entire time she’d been away, she didn’t feel entirely there, like she’d left a piece of herself behind with the male. Alice’s eyes lit up, a familiar spark of undiluted happiness shining in crimson eyes and her lips tilted into a, small, but genuine smile. “Good, I was, uh, really worried you might’ve been.” She chewed on her lower lip, fingers moving to drum gently against her own collarbone just so she had something to do with her hands. Another smile, this time sad, sprung to the girl’s lips and she shook her head slightly. “You don’t know that for sure, maybe in the next few years you’ll start hating me like I hate myself. It wouldn’t be surprising, everyone does in the end.” The chuckle that fell from her mouth was short and humorless before she shook it off; taking a deep breath. A small shiver rocked through Alice’s back at his touch and she hummed somewhat contently. She felt herself growing slightly self-conscious, though, thanks to all the new scars the last few strands of self confidence she had left had all but vanished. “I’m not, though. Unless of course you dig chicks with scars.” A small joke at her own expense, really, it was a lot easier than admitting exactly how horrible she thought she looked.
Jonathan really didn't want to get Alice any more worked up than she already was, so he decided he would stop verbally disagreeing with her on the subject. Of course, in his mind he continued to list the reasons of why it was in fact his fault; a very small number of them being how insensitive, stupid, pushy, overprotective, and suicidal he was. "Alright, I won't argue with you about it anymore." He replied lightly, attempting to soften his features enough not to let her see a single glimpse of the horrors in his mind just then. He could feel his heart flutter, though, when he saw the female's smile. No matter how small, they could get him through almost anything. Jon swallowed and shook his head, "I was not for a single second angry with you, Alice." He reassured her, kissing her back of her hand that was closest to him. It was as if she knew what words what cut through him so easily and she chose each word with precision and a goal in mind to hurt him. The werewolf had to close his eyes, shaking his head with increasing speed. "Alice, no I will never, ever hate you, alright? I swear it." He promised as he craned his neck to be able to gently rest his forehead against hers. "Not everyone does, but you think they do. I will always love you, Alice, and nothing you do, or say, or think will ever change that." He reasoned, very carefully placing a delicate kiss on the tip of her nose, hoping that it would make the vampire scrunch up her face like she always used to. "I just really wish that I could help you see you the way that I do." The male suggested although his pitch went up as if he was asking a question instead. Jon wished-- needed to get so much closer to the other than he was. Despite the fact that she was back in his arms where she belonged, there was still too much distance between them. He shook his head once again, one tan hand moving down her shoulder to her forearm. "You are very beautiful, Alice. The most beautiful person I have ever seen. And I'm old." He said with a halfhearted smile, gently bumping her cheek with his nose. "You're just as gorgeous as you were before, and nothing will change that." His hand continued moving down her arm until he reached the immortal's small hand. Cautiously, his fingers tried to make a home in the spaces between hers as his lips resumed sprinkling kisses all over the side of her face. "You say it like it's such a bad thing. There's nothing wrong with them." Jonathan insisted quietly, hoping that she wouldn't point out his obvious hypocrisy as he thought that his own scars were unsightly.
walking travesty // Alice and Jon
Had it been any other day and Alice probably would’ve rolled her eyes, but instead she opted for a gentle huff. “No you don’t, love.” She paused for a second, brow creasing, “I was stupid and selfish. So, no, you don’t need to apologize at all, Jon.” She remedied quietly, eyes wide with a silent plead for him to believe her. She was the one who left, and the last thing she wanted was for Jonathan to feel guilty. Upon being picked up, the female hesitantly nuzzled herself against his chest, bringing her arms up to rest against her chest. With each light kiss, the vampire felt the shaking start to subside again, of course it was still there, it just wasn’t as violent anymore. Alice lent her head against his chest, ear pressed carefully over where his heart was and she concentrated on each steadying beat. “You’re not?” Her eyes shot up to his face, expression taking that of a small child as relief spread through her, chasing away the guilt that riddled her body. “I thought you were going to hate me.” She admitted sheepishly, averting her gaze out of sheer embarrassment from her confession. Still nestled against Jon’s body, Alice hardly moved an inch once, fear prickling in her veins as she knew she’d probably have to explain what’d happened.
The male instantly shook his head at her words. "Don't, Alice. You are not stupid at all, and it wasn't selfish. You are always selfless, and it's about time you did something just for yourself." Jon insisted, sealing his words with a kiss to her temple. He knew that it was all his fault that she had left. He didn't make her happy enough, he was too selfish, too stupid, and maybe she finally wised up to the fact that she deserved so much better than him. He had told her that since the beginning; he could never provide her with everything that she deserved, and for that he had no right to expect her to stay for any amount of time, and especially not to come back. The remaining fragile shards of Jonathan's heart shattered so much at the vampire's demeanor and question that it physically pained him. "Of course I'm not, sweetheart." He replied, his tone almost matching hers as he tried his hardest not to allow his voice to crack. He cleared his throat, his lips parting a moment later at her next statement. That nearly knocked the wind out of him. Jon held her just a bit closer and kissed her head again. "Alice, I swear that I could never, ever hate you, okay? I promise. Never." He answered firmly, deep brown eyes meeting her scarlet ones. He couldn't believe that he would let her think that. In all honesty, the werewolf had barely even noticed the scars littering her body until then when they were on their bed. He knew that they hadn't been there before, as he had most of her body memorized. Warm fingertips slowly slid down over the chilled skin as he placed another kiss on her temple. "You're very beautiful." He commented, hiding his face in her hair and offering a small smile. "Just like always."
