Sam is just a better person than Dean. Full stop. He actually cares about people, whether or not their monsters, he doesn't think anyone needs to die. It's really telling that Deangirls excuse Dean of any wrongdoing, ever, because it's so obvious that's how you see the world. Just like Dean, you can't put yourself in anyone else's shoes, so, you can't imagine what it feels like to be Sam, who is struggling so hard with something he can't control. But Sam puts himself in everyones' shoes and that's why he's always hurting. He cares so much in a way Dean is never capable of.
