âWhy are you so eager to leave? Canât this be home, too?â
His words echoed in your mind as you hugged your knees to your chest, staring out the window while you traced aimless patterns into your bland bedsheets, giving them something at least a little more interesting than pure, blank white.
The sun held the same spot it always had; gentle rays hugged the horizon, a never-ending cascade of oranges and reds painting the streets of the city. If you leaned forward a bit more, youâd be able to see the ever-present crowd of androids that hung onto every spare glimpse of you they could get.
Frankly, they were the last thing you wanted to see right now.Â
Ever since the meal you âsharedâ with Nier, you felt less and less flattered by the sheer attention all the androids gave you, and more like a bug pinned on display for them to gawk at. They watched you closer, bored their gazes deeper into your psyche, hung on every word and movement and thought you had. You wouldnât be surprised if they literally kissed the ground you walked on, if they were allowed within proximity of you.
Nier made sure they werenât, though. He kept a tight leash on his people, maintaining much needed space between you and them. For that, you were immensely grateful.
And yet, as the clock ticked on, the castle seemed less like a sanctuary and more like a prison. Beyond keeping the androids outside the gate, sending them on missions, he didnât do much to shoo them away. There was no âthe show is overâ, no âmove onâ, nothing about how you werenât a prop to be ogled.
Your room felt like the only safe space you had now, and even that was tentative. You only had so much time to yourself before 34DE and 34PO came to start your day for you. Feed you, attempt to bathe you (again), and choose your clothing for you, autonomy stripped from your very fingertips. While it was nice at first, getting the royalty treatment, it became grating and demeaning overtime. Eventually, the excuse of they mean well twisted into something closer to dread whenever that knock sounded on your door.
âThe King wants to see you,â 34PO informed you one morning as she combed through your damp locks oh so gently.Â
Your stomach twisted.Â
Youâd been avoiding him as much as you could, asking to stay in your room, or a walk through the garden, needing time to think. Think about everything â the time you spent here, how each day seemed further from home, your real home. Nier told you that Earth wasnât a priority for the humans on the moon, but it didnât make sense to you. How could it not be?Â
Confrontation was inevitable, you knew this well. You had questions, you needed answers, and Nier was the only one who could give them to you. You just really hated conflict, and hoped it wouldnât come to that.
Just talk to him. It couldnât be that hard. He was a reasonable man, proved himself to be logical, accommodating, and caring. When you asked to leave after having to eat in front of hundreds of pairs of inhuman eyes, he easily let you escape their piercing eyes without a fight. Ask him. All you had to do was ask him.
All your bravado fled out the window when you saw him sitting at the head of the endlessly long dining table the dining hall hosted. It had only two seating spots, two empty plates â his, and the seat to his left.
Nier stood as you approached, smiling warmly at you, not a worry in the world to be found in his calm disposition. Like the gentleman he was, he pulled out your chair and guided you to sit in it, gently nudging you forward until you were tucked comfortably at the table.
âItâs good to see you again,â he said as he took his spot again, his gaze never once leaving you.
You swallowed dryly, and mourned the lack of a glass of water for you to nervously sip at. âYou, too,â you replied stiffly.
âHungry?â
Flashes of memories resurfaced, the last meal you shared with him coming to mind. You gave him a thin, forced smile. âUh, yeah, kinda.â
The android grinned wide. âGood. They should be finished preparing breakfast for you soon.â
You didnât miss how he only mentioned you, as opposed to himself, too. Was his plate just for show, then? To comfort you?
Your mouth opened, thoughts ready to spill out â only for them to get stuck. Your teeth clacked as you shut your mouth and pointedly looked away from him, choosing to clear your throat instead. So much for talking to him.
âDid you sleep well?â He questioned next, never once missing a beat, despite your stiffness.
You didnât. You tossed and turned all night long, but it would be rude to tell your host that. So, you smiled thinly, and nodded. âYes, thank you.â
He smiled back, so warm, so polite. Nier had always been so kind to you, so caring. He welcomed you with open arms, promised to help you. Guilt ached in your chest as you reminded yourself that he was a busy man, a king. Of course it was going to take a while to aid you. You were a guest, and all he was asking for from you was your patience.Â
Still, you couldnât fully ignore the discomfort in your gut, the whispers in the back of your mind that something was wrong.
A door in the wall behind him slid open, and a few androids came in, carrying steaming platters of food. Honeyed boar, roasted vegetables, things that resembled a dinner feast more than any sort of breakfast you were used to. Their delicious scents wafted in the air, prompting your mouth to water and your stomach to growl.
Nier chuckled fondly, murmuring about how he found the human body truly fascinating.Â
The glint in his eye spoke of something you couldnât put a finger on.
You barely had any time to process all that was spread out on the table before the androids were piling food into your plate. It was way too much, damn near spilling off the edges, but they didnât stop until you frantically insisted for them to. They left Nierâs plate alone, exiting as quickly as they arrived.
Your plate was a bit of a mess, but it still looked tasty. It was the thought that counted, right? They were just doing their best. So, ignoring the comfort that being the only one to eat, especially while being observed (again), brought you, you dug in, sating the rumbling in your stomach while you mulled over everything.
The silence unnerved you, his stare even more so, but it didnât last long.
âThe Council of Humanity wants to meet with you,â Nier told you out of nowhere.Â
You nearly dropped your fork, food halfway to your mouth as you processed what he said. âThe what?â
âThe humans on the moon,â he clarified. âThey finally got back to me.â
It took a moment, then you lit up with excitement, a bright smile stretching across your face. âReally?â You asked, fingertips buzzing so much that you had to put the utensil down.
You held a flicker of suspicion, wondering if he was pulling your leg. Heâd been so edgy about the topic, always avoiding or redirecting when you asked. It was one of the things you wanted to mention, to confront him about, but maybe you wouldnât have to anymore.Â
He nodded, smiling contently. âReally.â
You exhaled in relief, sighing as an invisible weight rose off your shoulders. Your heart fluttered, half in joy, and half in guilt; guilt for doubting Nier and his intentions.
âThatâs amazing.â You perked up. âWhen do they want to meet?â
âAs soon as youâre ready.â
Was your chance to go home finally here? Hell, even if not, itâd be amazing to talk to humans again. The androids were kind, yes, but they lacked the innate understanding that being human came with. Ashamed as you were to admit it, you sorely missed having someone to chat with that wouldnât be trying to pry you apart, asking invasive questions and prodding at your skin the entire time.
âIâm ready now,â you said, pushing your chair back.
He raised a brow at you and motioned toward your still very full plate. âYou should finish your food first.â
You glanced down at it, fingers gripping the table to steady yourself. Earlier, you were resistant to eating because of your discomfort. Now, you were too excited, too anxious to meet with the Council to think about finishing the mountain of nutrition you were given.
âIâm full,â you told him, shaking your head.
He exhaled through his nose as if exasperated with you, but didnât argue further, taking his sweet time rising to his full height. âLetâs not keep them waiting, then.â
A simple tilt of his head, and you were scurrying to follow him, hardly noticing the hand he placed between your shoulder blades as he guided you through winding halls, up spiraling stairs, and through endless doors. You never realized how big the castle truly was until you were struggling to keep track of how many left and right turns youâd taken, all of it culminating into a set of massive double doors. They hid something that had your heart doing flips, nervous and eager all at once.
It was really happening. Whether or not the people on the moon could help you get home, theyâd at least have some answers, and⌠and youâd have someone to talk to. Someone normal â by your human standards.
âReady?â He questioned. You nodded firmly.
With ease, he pushed open the doors; the material creaked under its own weight, yet he seemed wholly unbothered, easily displaying his strength. Were you not on the tips of your toes, the edge of your seat, you would have found it frightening. Instead, it was mesmerizing.
His hand returned to its spot on your back and he lightly nudged you into a massive, circular auditorium. It was dark inside, and the floor clicked under your feet, the metal of the raised platform a stark contrast to the singular material that the rest of the castle seemed to be made of. You looked around, searching for this âCouncil of Humanityâ. Were they here? Orâ
You flinched and squeezed your eyes shut when a massive screen ignited, illuminating the space faster than you were prepared for.
It took you a minute to adjust to the brightness, but when you looked towards the screen that spanned almost the entire back wall of the auditorium, expecting a face, all you saw was a strange logo; A full moon with a crescent sliver taken from its top right edge. There was quiet, then a deep, booming voice filled the space.
âThe Council of Humanity welcomes you,â the person said, authority heavy in their tone. âWe have heard your plight, and wish to aid you.â
Startled, you looked up at Nier, who smiled and nodded at you in approval. Encouragement.
Stepping forward, you gulped and waved, cringing when you realized that whoever was on the other end probably couldnât see you. âUm, h-hi?â When you got no response, your stomach sank. âYou can help me get home?â
âWe can,â they responded. âItâs our duty to ensure the survival of humanity continues.â
Relief settled deep in your bones. Home, you can finally go home.
âThank you,â you breathed out, shoulders dropping, muscles loosening.Â
This world was amazing, beautiful, and the people that resided on it were so kind, but⌠you missed home, as shitty as it was sometimes. You missed your friends, the internet, humans.Â
You shifted in place, ready to ask how exactly they were planning to send you home, when the other person beat you to it. âYour presence on Earth has been greatly appreciated,â they said. âBefore we send you home, we would like to ask⌠are you sure you would not like to stay here?â
Brows furrowing, you briefly glanced back at Nier, but his expression â or lack thereof â gave nothing away. Rolling your lips together, you carefully considered your words, your response. Your nerves and paranoia whispered that something wasnât right, so you wanted to tread carefully.
â...Iâm grateful, truly,â you said slowly. âThe androids are so nice. Everything is. But Iâm sure my family is worried, and I am, too. I miss them.â
âThe kingdom has benefitted from being able to see a human in person for the first time in many centuries. Morale has increased, and the tides of our war against the machine lifeforms have turned. You could do so much here.â
Your enthusiasm was starting to dwindle. It felt good to know youâd helped simply by existing, letting the androids see you, but you didnât want to stay here. Not forever.
You swallowed, wrapping your arms around yourself. âWith all due respect, I just want to go home.â
âThis could be your home.â
Canât this be home, too?
âIââ
The voice interrupted you. âAll would be taken care of. You wouldnât need to lift a finger, would want for nothing.âÂ
Stomach twisting under your ribs, you dug your nails into your arms, confusion ebbing into stress. âThank you for the offer, but pleaseââ
âOur repopulation efforts could start with you.â
Your eyes widened and you instinctively stepped back, away from the looming screen. âNo,â you snapped, then softened your tone, worried about offending them. âSorry, but Iâm not interested. Please, just send me back.â
You had a lovely vacation, but you drew the line at being treated like breeding stock.Â
There was a brief respite, the only noise being a distant hum in the walls, thenâÂ
âWeâd be happy to send you home, but wouldnât you like for this to be your home?â
âŚDidnâtâ didnât they already say that?
âUm,â you hesitated, your paranoia bubbling closer to the edge of the pot. âNo, I just told you. I want to go home. My real home.â
âYou could do so much here,â the voice continued. âThe kingdom has benefitted from being able to see a human in person for the first time in many centuries. Morale has increased, and the tides of our war against the machine lifeforms have turned.âÂ
You didnât respond. It kept repeating the same lines over and over. No change in inflection. No drop in tone.Â
What you were talking to wasnât human.Â
Something burned inside your chest. Hot enough to scorch at your lungs as you turned to face the King.Â
âAre you fucking with me?â
For a moment, you stared at one another. The silence pressed on your eardrums, making them ring. Nier was stock-still, unshifting as stone. Uncanny.
An unexpected noise startled you, and that was when you saw it.
The mask dropped.Â
Nier was hunched over, his shoulders shaking. He was laughing at you.Â
âSorry,â he said, but his smile betrayed his truth. âYou seemed so excited to talk with other humans. I only wanted to give you a taste. Lift up your spirits.âÂ
A lie. You knew that now. Every word that fell from his lips was a complete and utter lie.Â
He did all of this just to humiliate you.Â
âYou were never planning on helping me, were you?â More and more pieces clicked together. âYouâ you kept stringing me along, pretending you actually cared about helping me when all you wanted to do was play these sick fucking mind games.âÂ
Why did you leave Pascal? Why did you leave the forest? Why couldnât you have stayed put for Accord to find you instead of trusting theseâthese monsters? Why did you listen to them?Â
You were so, so stupid.Â
âThe humans up there probably donât know I exist.â You mumbled to yourself, feeling your eyes sting. You stumbled back, grasping at the rail behind you for support. âYou never even contacted them.âÂ
He approached you, closing in on your space. A hand lifted your chin so he could see you, fingers oh-so gentle. Immediately, you slapped it away, side-stepping him. Neir barely flinched.Â
âIf humans were on the Moon, I probably wouldnât have gone this far,â he revealed.Â
Your scowl softened, heart dropping to your stomach.Â
âWhat does that mean?â You asked, your voice a crackling whisper.
He smiled. It lacked mirth.Â
âHumans have been extinct for millennia,â he told you. âThey never made it to the Moon. All of them perished on Earth.â
The world was spiraling around you, but he kept going, tearing down your world more and moreâone that he personally contacted with paper mache walls.Â
âThe aliens invaded after they disappeared. For so many centuries, androids warred against the machine lifeforms for Earth. At one point, aliens had taken over 80% of Earth. Androids were losing the war. We needed to fight for something. We needed to fight for someone.âÂ
He walked to the control panel and tapped on a key. Instantly, the soulless voice stopped. The room was quiet, humming gone dead, your ears ringing in its absence.Â
âMy predecessors decided to fabricate a story. Something that could motivate androids to keep fighting.âÂ
He didnât need to elaborate. The story of humanity still surviving on the Moon was all a lie. Just like everything else.Â
âAll that's up there is a bunker.â Neir shrugged, too nonchalant, as if he wasnât part of a massive cover-up. One he was dragging you into. âNothing else.âÂ
He went silent on the matter. So did you. What else was there to say?Â
âSo now what?â Itâs the first time youâve heard so much venom from your voice. Harsh, angered.Â
Terrified.Â
âAre you planning on keeping me like a puppet? Force me to perform to the other androids? Was that the plan? To keep me as some sort of freakshow?âÂ
He laughed again, shaking his head. His features warmed, eyes drawing into crescents under the smile you once found so charming.
âNo, Iâm afraid Iâm not that creative.â He admitted, surveying you. âIâm planning on marrying you.âÂ
That was the last response you expected from him.Â
âReally, you have no idea how grateful I am to you,â Neir confessed. âThe idea of humans being up on the Moon was starting to get harder and harder to maintain. My people wanted evidence. Something tangible.âÂ
His eyes bored into your own.Â
âAnd then you came along.âÂ
You felt your heart beat. Fast. Your head felt light. You thought you were about to pass out.Â
âI always thought of myself as a generous leader,â Neir continued. âIf I have just the tiniest confirmation that, yes, the numerous android deaths, the suffering, all of it was worth it, should I not take it?âÂ
He smiled at you. His tone was frighteningly happy.Â
âA human bride who came down to Earth to be with an android. Itâs a story that has the potential to bolster our armies for centuries.âÂ
No. No, you couldnât. This was all so much.Â
âNeir.â You begged. âPlease. Donât do this.âÂ
You hadnât realized you were crying until tears dripped down your cheeks. Your legs barely held up your weight, knees close to buckling. You were trembling so badly you thought youâd drop at any moment.Â
Neirâs eyes mellowed, cerulean irises melting into puddles of deep blue. He reached for you, stroking your cheek. Unlike before, you donât have the strength to turn him away. His eyes shifted from amusement to affection. It looked so sincere.Â
It made you want to vomit.Â
âYouâll want for nothing,â his voice was sickenly genuine, repeating what the AI told you. Soft, sweet. âYouâll be cared for by hundredsâ thousands, who want nothing more than to see you smile. You will be the most cherished human in Earthâs history. Youâll be a queenâmy Queen.âÂ
You shook your head, pulling away from Neirâs grasp. âBut I donât want that.âÂ
âWe canât always get what we want.âÂ
His patronizing tone struck a chord within you. Your fear burned into something brighter. Violent.Â
You didnât think, you just acted.
Your curled fists slammed against his chest, hands beating at him until they began to hurt. Nier himself didnât react to the assault, not beyond cocking his head like he was curious about what you were doing. He didnât defend himself or fight back, no. He sighed, and took your wrists in his light, unbreakable grip.
âI thought we could speak like adult humans,â he murmured, disappointed. Or maybe he was pretending to be. The condescending curl at the corner of his mouth made you feel like the child he was accusing you of being. âI see thatâs not the case.â
âLet me go!â You shrieked at him, trying to yank yourself free. His grip didnât even tighten.
Behind you, the massive doors opened, flooding the auditorium with new light as people rushed in. With dawning horror, you realized you recognized them â 73H, 5G, and 18D, the very same androids that had initially escorted you to the city. To him.
âYour Majesty,â 18D quickly acknowledged him. Stoicism overwrote her features, alongside those of 73H and 5G. None of them spared you a glance, despite the way you squirmed and tried futilely to kick against Nier.
âTake her to the tower,â he said dully, bored, âand give her space. Poor thing is overwhelmed. The Council of Humanity delivered bad news, Iâm afraid.â
You hissed like a feral cat. âHeâs lying! Let me go already!â
18D nodded, completely ignoring your spitting. From her sides, 73H and 5G advanced, replacing Nier in restraining you.
Nier frowned, putting on the perfect performance of distraught caretaker as he bent down to be eye-to-eye with you, hands cupping your cheeks. You jerked your head back, but couldnât escape far, not like this.
âThere, there, itâll be alright,â he cooed in faux sympathy. âWeâll figure something out, I promise.â
Desperate, you looked to 18D, hoping beyond hope that sheâd believe you. âHeâs lying to you, heâs been lying to you this whole time! There are no humans on the moon, thereâs nobody up there!â
Her features twitched, and your heart skipped a beatâ
Then, she looked to her King, who bowed his head as if to appear just as heartbroken as you. âThey said they couldnât help her home. In her distress, she began acting out, claiming theyâre all dead to her.â
âPoor thing,â 18D echoed his earlier sentiment, and your lower lip trembled, body slowly going slack in defeat. âDonât worry, your Majesty. Weâll get her settled.â
âThank you,â he smiled in mellow gratitude. You wanted to tear it off his face. âHave the girls know Iâll take over tending to her for now, until sheâs feeling better.â
â34PO and 34DE, sir?â
âYes, Iâm sure theyâll be beyond worried.â
Her head bobbed in agreement. âIâll inform them.â With that, she turned, and 73H and 5G followed suit, dragging you along.
Your heels dug into the ground, but your strength was nothing compared to that of androids. 73H talked to you in low tones she probably thought were comforting, but all they did was aggravate you further, her words going in one ear and out the other. On your other side, 5G was completely silent, staring dead ahead.
Down endless hallways and twisting turns, you were dragged kicking and screaming. It didnât matter, not to them. The winding staircase you were taken up at some point ended in a short hallway that had only one door. Beyond it, your prison.
Surprisingly, it didnât look like a prison. If anything, it looked like your room, if a bit smaller and more sparse. A bed, a bathroom.
No window.
And in the corner, aimed to see everything, a camera sat attached to the ceiling. The red blinking on its front mocked you. He was watching you, and he wanted you to know he was watching.Â
The moment the girls let go, you stumbled towards the bed and collapsed on it, hyperventilating. From your peripheral, you saw 73H reach out towards you, only for 18D to push her arm back down with a shake of the head. The same way you came, they retreated, leaving you alone in a hollow room with a hollow heart.Â
The moment the lock clicked, you broke down.
Your sobs bounced off the walls and echoed back into your ears, hysteria twisting your thoughts until, between one blink and the next, you were tearing the sheets off the bed and throwing them across the room. Another blink, and the chair tucked under the desk was thrown into a wall. Nightstand flipped over. Shower curtain ripped from the track.
You blinked again, and found yourself in the tub, holding your head as you cried. When you crawled out, energy nearly fully sapped, you threw yourself at one last thing. The camera.
Dragging the toppled chair over, you climbed onto it and reached up, hands wrapping around the black device to the best of your ability. Using all your strength, you pulled, pushed, and screamed. As immoveable as its owner, though, it remained, a stain of ink on the pure white of everything else.
You lumbered back down, nearly tripping, and threw the chair again.
You werenât one to pray, but that night, you prayed.
To whomever or whatever would listen, you prayed and begged and pleaded. Any deity, any God that would bother to hear your cries. You wished, both silently and aloud, that Accord would finally show up and save you from this mess. You hoped it was all a dream, and when you passed out from exhaustion and woke to find that it was all too real, you began praying again.
You yelled a lot, too. Screamed. Banged on the door, threw your shoes at the camera, demanding to be released. All you got back was silence.
The space was too still. The only time there was something different, movement not caused by you, was when a hidden slot under the door opened and a tray of food was shoved inside. It always closed too fast for you to catch it, but that didnât stop you from trying to pry it open, crying into the white blockade, forehead pressed to it. Nobody answered your pleas, nobody was there to let you out. You werenât even sure if it was an android bringing you food, or one of those pods youâd seen around.
By the third day, you understood that Accord wasnât coming.
It was long overdue, probably. Delusional, too, for you to have held onto hope for so long. You really should have known and accepted that you were completely on your own the second day you arrived here. Accordâs streak was perfect, she never, never lost anyone. At most, they were gone for a few hours, then found themselves home again, safe and sound with a fun story to tell.
You lost track of time on how long youâd been here. Two months? Three? Or maybe only a few weeks, a couple years. In the endless white of the castle, with a sun that forever clung to the horizon, it was easy for time to lose meaning. And now, in a windowless cube, no access to the outside world, a clock, people, it was impossible to tell.
It didnât take long for you to crack. Your composure was frayed bit by bit by each day that showed no signs of Accord, no signs of a way home. It wasnât hard for your will to crumble like dried sand. It all came tumbling down, eventually.Â
âIâll do it, Iâll do whatever you want, just let me out of here,â you caved, voice cracking. You swore you wouldnât, but you couldnât take the quiet anymore.
The door slid open soon after, as if heâd been waiting on the other side this entire time, ready to receive your surrender.
Your captor stepped in casually, unphased by the mess between you and him. He stepped over it all, your previous efforts to escape nothing more than discarded junk for him to nudge out of the way with his foot. The distance shrunk, and with it the air you needed. Seeing him again, being reminded of everything he had over you, from height to power to stance, made you regret giving in.
But not enough to take back your words. Youâd do anything to be taken out of this godsforsaken room.
Even if it meant marrying the very man who put you in it in the first place.
He knelt down before you, took your face in his hands like he might actually care for you. His thumbs glided over your cheeks, drawing away the tears that carved invisible scars into them.
âYou mean it, darling?â He asked, a hush.Â
You gazed up at him, peered into his eyes. The world outside ceased to exist, crumbling away until all that remained was the floor underneath, holding the last human on Earth. Your kin, and the one who wished to take said kin for himself, dug his hands under your skin until he could crawl into it. Were you someone else, you might have called it romantic.
You knew better.
But what was left, if not him?
A nod, and your fate was sealed.
His arms enveloped you, cradling you like you were something precious. Fingers tangled in your hair, stroked down your back, and held you as if you meant everything to him.
âSweet girl,â he cooed. âKnew you were smart enough to make the right decision.â
The illusion of free will.
All paths would inevitably lead back to him.
You wilted into his shoulder.
Through the ceremony preparations, you dissociated. Androids flooded into the castle, and those that couldnât fit inside the chapel sat on the outside of the arching windows, faces pressed to the glass to watch. Their hyper chattering was deafening, even three rooms down and behind a closed door.
34PO did one final pass over your face with the cotton puff, then stepped back to examine you with a hum. She must have been satisfied with her work, seeing as she stepped back and smiled at you. Similarly, 34DE finished doing up your hair, patting your shoulder to indicate so.
âYouâre so pretty,â 34PO sighed dreamily. âHis Majesty will absolutely love you.â
Love. What a joke. None of this was being done out of love.
âHeâd be crazy not to,â 34DE agreed.Â
Her twin model giggled. Your morbid, empty stare mellowed her out. âItâs such a joyous day! You mustnât let your nerves get to you.â She lightly cupped your cheeks, her hands barely grazing your skin. âThe King wonât let anything go wrong. He planned everything thoroughly.â
It wasnât nerves that had you gripping the fabric of the dress you were stuffed into, though those certainly didnât help. It was frustration, anger, fear, despondency. When you initially woke up in this world, you never imagined youâd stay past sunset. Youâd explore for a while, enjoy a break from the mundane life you led, then Accord would take you home.
But then, the sun never set, never once moved from the sky.
Her words were meant for comfort, but they only made you withdraw into yourself. Fuck, you really were a fool. How long had he been planning this? Since you arrived? Before you ended up in this world?
How could you have been blind to his intentions for all this time?
Oblivious or willfully ignorant, it didnât matter. The twins merely urged you to your feet, muttering assurances and encouragement. They spent so much time taking care of you, meeting your every need (whether you wanted them to or not), that it shouldnât have been surprising to see 34PO tearing up. You didnât know that androids could cry. Or that they would need to.
âYouâre crying,â you stated dully.
She sniffled and giggled, swiping at her eyes with her fingers. âIâm just so happy for you.â
You believed her. If nobody else was honest, you knew that at least 34PO and 34DE were true to themselves and you.
You felt like you were in your own bubble. Outside its fragile barrier, the world moved at hyperspeed; faces blurred past, passageways and rooms blended into one, all while you remained as a slow, impassive witness. Each step you took seemed like both an instant in time and a thousand years. You let 34PO and 34DE lead you, knowing itâd be pointless to throw a fit and fight back now. Wedding jitters, cold feet (âare they actually cold?â), nerves. Theyâd come up with any excuse.
But when those grandiose doors split wide open to reveal an aisle â the aisle you were meant to walk down â you realized that maybe you should have tried to fight.
A long rug, colorless as everything else, spanned out between you and the end of the crowded benches occupied by dozens, hundreds, of androids. And, at the very end, he stood there, waiting patiently as a saint.
Nier. Your groom.Â
Your husband.
The twins must have decided that you trying to step back wasnât reluctance, a useless escape attempt, but stage fright in front of hundreds of eyes. âJust pretend they arenât there,â one of them whispered. You couldnât tell who.
Before, you felt suffocated under their care, unable to lift a finger for yourself. Now, you desperately clung to them, wishing theyâd just take you far away from here. Anywhere, so long as Nier wasnât there.
34PO squeezed your hand lightly, then the two nudged you forward, and you were all on your own again.
What other choice do you have?Â
Meeting Nierâs gaze, you knew you never had one in the first place.
Heart in your throat, you began walking down the aisle, hands trembling at your sides. If you had a bouquet, all the flower stems would have been crushed beneath your knuckle-thinning grip. You would have killed to have something, someone, to hold onto, but there was nothing. Only you, him, and the infinite eyes that hung onto your every step and word.
The aisle was miles long, seconds dragging eternally until you blinked and found yourself standing across from Nier, trapped under his towering command. He smiled at you, and thankfully made no comment when you didnât â couldnât â smile back. His hands slid down your forearms to your fists and he gently lifted them, coaxing them out of the tight balls you wound them up into to intertwine your fingers together.
It wasnât a surprise to you that very little of human wedding tradition had survived the many thousands of years that they were gone. There was no pastor to officiate your union, no rings to be worn, glass to be broken.Â
Just you, and him.
Nothing needed to be said. You both knew what this really was. When he leaned into your space, you only hesitated for a moment, throwing a glance to the end of the aisle. 34PO and 34DE still stood there, holding each otherâs hands and looking at you with such pride and joy in their eyes, waiting expectantly.
Your eyes squeezed shut, blocking them and everyone else out. A solitary tear slipped down your cheek, ignored as you stood on your toes and brushed your lips against Nierâs, barely making any contact in favor of keeping it as short as possible. You felt him huff through his nose, breath on your cheek â then a hand was tangling in your hair and pulling you forward.Â
Nier kissed you properly, the connection deep and intentful, actions pulling a surprised gasp from you. His lips felt cold, yet soft, plush. They parted to deepen the kiss, and the way your heartbeat pounded in your ears drowned out the uproar of cheers that filled the space all the way up to the chapelâs vaulted ceiling.
He didnât let you pull away until you were struggling for breath, chest heaving, blood rushing. Androids were celebrating, jumping and cheering, weeping, hugging. You saw none of it, not with the way Nier shifted his hand to cup your cheek and subtly block your vision of all but him.
Only him. Itâll only ever be him.
âWeâre bound,â he told you, lips on the shell of your ear, his white hair tickling your cheeks. âForever.â
Forever.
Your hand was trapped in his, forcing you to take his lead, follow after him like the stray pup he found and put on a leash. Hands reached for you from each side of the aisle, desiring to graze the god they so worshipped. Instinctively, you tucked closer to Nier, and immediately regretted it when you felt his arm curl around your waist and his chest rumble with softened laughter.
âRelax,â he grinned down at you. âWonât let any of them touch you.â
It wasnât just them you were worried about, but you couldnât put your fear, hatred, disdain, defeat, into words. It all got stuck in your throat, tongue sticky from your undoing, from still being able to taste his synthetic flavor left behind by his kiss.
34DE and 34PO were in the hallway, waiting beyond the doors of the chapel for your arrival. They were both teary-eyed, grinning from ear to ear as they rushed to say their congratulations. Nier received them with a serene smile, the one you now recognized as a mask, him pretending to be kind and thankful.
âIâll be taking her to our chambers,â he told them. âWe wish to not be disturbed.â
âOf course!â 34PO nodded obediently. âWe wonât let anyone bother you.â
âGlory to mankind,â 34DE declared, fist to her chest, which her sister mimicked.Â
You wanted to talk to them, stay with them as long as possible to delay whatever Nier had planned for you, but by the time you opened your mouth, he was already sweeping you away from them. Your last salvation stripped away from you.
You lost track of how many steps you took, needing to lengthen your gait to keep up with Nierâs excitement. There was a click, and you were in a large, dimly-lit room.Â
Itâd been so long since youâd seen color besides the white of the castle, green of the city, and eternally setting sun, that the burst of red you saw felt oversaturated. It was on the bedâs duvet, the rug underneath the frame, the curtains of the four-poster, the tapestries on the walls. The plush armchairs placed in front of the glowing, crackling fireplace, too.Â
It all looked like blood. Freshly spilled, drained, used as divine paint. All for you.
A hand on your lower back startled you, causing you to tear your eyes away from the gory scene. Nier was already smiling at you, like he knew exactly how it looked to you. âGo make yourself comfortable, dear. Iâll be just a moment.â
The kiss he laid to your temple felt more like a threat than reassurance.Â
He moved away from you afterwards, stalking over to the low bookshelf set up by one of the walls. Left to your own devices, you turned away from him and took in your surroundings, trying to ground the rising panic trying to bubble free. What was he planning to do to you? He couldnât possibly want toâŚ
You threw the thought out as soon as it popped up, hoping beyond hope that Nier didnât have the necessary⌠equipment to take this whole marriage thing that far. Instead, you chose to walk to the full-length mirror propped up in the corner of the room.
You stared at your reflection. The dress was simple; off-white with ruffled, short sleeves, the hem reaching your knees. Not quite a wedding dress, but the closest they could get to one, you supposed. 34PO did a good job on your makeup, 34DE with your hair. If this had been a day you wanted, a wedding you willingly participated in, you would have appreciated it more. As it stood, you felt like a stranger in your own body.
Soft music began to play, likely what your husband had been messing with.
Fuck. Husband.
It felt surreal. Sure, nothing about the ceremony resembled anything legally binding, but the way he looked at you, held you, kissed youâÂ
You were never escaping his clutches.Â
Nierâs arms looped around your shoulders, pulling you into his chest as his chin settled on your crown. In the silvered reflection, his eyes glowed a vibrant cerulean.
âBeautiful,â he breathed reverently. âAbsolutely beautiful. My human wife.â
âWhat do you want?â You asked, voice cracking minutely. âIs this all? Just to marry me?â
The question had swirled in your mind a lot, but no matter which way you sliced it, it didnât fully add up. Could he want more power? Possible, but he already had a kingdom, hundreds of loyal androids. A chance to feel closer to the humanity they lost so long ago? Seemed closer to the truth, but that couldnât be all. Not with how insistent he was on keeping you by his side.
You felt his chuckle more than you heard it, a distant rumble of thunder against your fragile spine. âOf course not,â he denied. âI have a responsibility to protect humanity.â
âBut theyâre gone,â you said.Â
âCorrect. Which means now, my responsibility is to restore it.â
Your heart sank to your toes. No. No no no. âWhat do you mean?â
Nier tilted his head to the side, lips grazing your cheek, leaving fluttering kisses in his wake as he drifted down your jaw and to your neck. âSee, I canât do this with the other androids. While they may possess the, ah, anatomy, they do not possess the needed structures to support life.â
â...What do you mean?â
You regretted asking as soon as the words, half-whispered as they were, left your mouth.
His lips stretched into a wide grin, teeth almost sharp enough to bite into you and leave a mark. A permanent scar, one that let everyone know who you belonged to.
âWe androids, weâre not meant to make life, no,â he explained. âBut we can aid in it. I can aid in it. I canât create sperm myself, but I can most certainly act as a host. A medium for⌠transfer, if you will.â
Breath stuttering in your chest, you tensed up, fingers growing cold, adrenaline spiking. âNier.â
âDonât worry, Iâll take care of you. Youâll want for nothing, need nothing, and all you have to doâŚâ
His hand shifted, sliding down your front, over your breast, settling on your stomach to solidify your worst fear.Â
âIs carry humanityâs child.â
You tore yourself out of his grip, distinctly aware that he let you. He had more than enough strength to lock you in place if he wanted to.
âNo!â You shouted, backing away. He watched with a small smile, and you didnât know if that unsettled you more than if he had been completely neutral. âI wonât. I donât want that.â
He took a step forward, and you matched him in reverse, edging further back. Unperturbed by his retreat, he closed in on you until the backs of your knees were bumping into the edge of the plush bed. Balance lost, you tumbled back onto the duvet, heart hammering inside your rib cage.
Judge, jury, executioner. Warden.
There was nowhere you could go to flee from him, a fact he reinforced by planting his hands on either side of your head.Â
âItâs your responsibility, too, you know,â Nier murmured, snowy locks falling around the sides of his face. His damned, beautiful face. âAs the last human on Earth, itâs up to you, to us, to bring them back.â Then, quieter, he said, âI wonât fail to protect them this time, not again.â
âNierââ
âShh,â his thumb rested on your bottom lip, effectively silencing you. âI wonât simply use you. You are my wife, after all. As your husband, I will ensure you feel nothing but pleasure.â
Tears pricked the backs of your eyes, spilling into your waterline. âPlease,â you choked. âPlease, donât.â
All he did was kiss your forehead, so tender. Youâd almost prefer it if he wasnât.
A hand slid up your thigh, inching beneath the skirt of your dress. Somewhere in your hindbrain, you knew it was pointless to fight back. A battle already lost, a war that was projected to completely decimate your lands. A plague, famine, devastation. Give in, and heâd water your soils, keep your plains fertile. Just give in.
With nothing and everything left to lose, you gave in.
And your loving husband rewarded you for it; he cooed in your ear, gave you sweet promises of a bright future, one where you would be lauded as a hero, the one that brought back humanity when it was on the brink of complete extinction. As he did, his hand worked its way between your thighs, palm cupping the heat of your sex through your panties.Â
Experimentally, his middle finger nudged against the outline of your slit, featherlight tracing making you squirm. It wasnât a bad feeling, per se. Rather, you can only describe it as faintly ticklish.Â
He hooked it around the band of the gusset, and you were mortified to find that you were wet. His skin made contact with your sex, and his digit easily glided between your folds, coasting up and down the length of your vulva.Â
âSo warm,â he commented idly. âAre all humans this hot?â
You didnât know how to respond. He didnât seem to mind. Entranced, he explored, familiarizing your core with touch first. Curious. Itâs such a harmless, yet horrifying, thought.Â
It didnât hit you that heâd drawn your panties down until cool air was brushing against your cunt. Startled, you reached down in an attempt to stop him, but it was too late, as heâd already pulled them off from around your ankles. Reverent and careful, he folded them and set them on the foot of the bed beside you, causing you to flush with embarrassment.
You felt painfully exposed, even with the dress still technically covering you. Another barrier, another boundary, scraped from your person.
Nier lowered himself to his knees, hands on your thighs to keep them apart. You writhed in discomfort, white-hot humiliation dancing up your spine. âDonâtâ donât look at me.âÂ
Blue eyes glanced up at you. âCan a husband not see his wife?â
You tried to swallow around the lump in your throat. âI⌠please, just⌠donât.â
He angled his head to the left. âAh. I see, now. Youâre embarrassed.â The fact that he read through you like thin paper made the heat in your chest and cheeks bloom hotter. Worse, it made the heat in your stomach grow, too. âYou donât need to be embarrassed. Thereâs no part of you I wouldnât find beautiful.â
You breathed in to disagree, insist that wasnât the case, even if it was â but you were cut off by a mouth making contact with your cunt. Your hips jumped, body reacting faster than your mind could. He acted in kind, grabbing your hips to hold you down, unable to escape the tentative tongue that licked you from hole to clit.Â
The gasp you drew in was completely drowned out by the downright euphoric groan he let out. He attacked again, deeper this time, harder, licking at you feverishly to take in every drop of your slick.
âThis must be the ambrosia I read in those human books,â he sounded gutted. âHealing nectar from the gods. I thought it must have been their blood, but I was wrong. Itâs this.âÂ
Unfortunately, you were too stunned to correct him.
He dove back in, his method aimless, circuits clearly focused more on drinking you down than pleasuring you. At least, until his teeth barely skimmed against your clit. Your moan was quiet, but you failed to choke it down. And, of course, Nier noticed.
âOh?â He hummed, the vibrations traveling through your nerves to the swirling, loose mess of tangles in your stomach. Intrigued, he wrapped his lips around your clit and sucked.
You couldnât hide your whine of pleasure this time, even if you wanted to.
It rattled free from your chest as your hands shot down to dig through his tresses, torn between pushing him away and drawing him closer. Your hips yearned to move, to grind against his face and take what you wanted, what you needed, but the damned android kept them pinned in place. Anything you received was something he gave.
The tip of a finger prodded at the part of your cunt he wasnât suckling the soul out of, tracing up and down through your wet folds. It encouraged your body to produce more slick, to his great delight. His ministrations gained confidence, interest growing the more you reacted and wriggled. It still surprised you, though, when his finger slid into you without resistance.Â
His fingers were slim, but long. It easily reached the back of your pussy, petting around the ring of your cervix. The sensation was odd, albeit not unpleasant. Just weird.Â
Nier seemed to like it, like your warmth. He sought more of it, the appendage moving around to map the space within you, learn all he could. There were only so many things you could hide from him, and you were positive he was determined to make sure this wasnât one of them.Â
While the stretch around one finger wasnât too noticeable, two had your back arching and toes curling. It worked its way in with the first, parting your walls to make room. Youâd never admit it, but it felt good.
âFuck,â you groaned, teeth gritting as he carefully massaged the inside of your pussy. He was methodical, almost clinical, like he was inspecting you. Twist, press, spread, scissoring both your entrance and deep inside.Â
Then, his digits crooked up, and you inhaled sharply as he hit your sweet spot dead on. Nier grinned, smug and self-satisfied, a cat that got the cream.
He focused on that spot, repeating the motion and watching your reaction with fascination. Each stroke spur your body into motion against your will, heat building in your center from the rising pleasure. It was slow, a gradual rise, kept on a low simmer. His fingers felt very different, unique, the lack of calluses and fingerprints giving them a smooth texture. It was delicious. They rubbed eagerly, petting until the coil winding inside you creaked andâ
Snap.
A startled moan burst out from you as an unexpectedly strong orgasm crashed into your body. It passed through you in waves, the sound of Nier humming in fascination as you clenched around him drowned out by the ringing in your ears.
It didnât occur to you that he wouldnât stop until pleasure bled into overstimulation. The heels of your hands shoved against his forehead, sweaty fingers tangling into his pristine hair, but he didnât budge.
âNier,â you wheezed, straining against his unbreakable clutch. âStop, sâtoo much.â
He gave you mercy, drawing back an inch to give you a crazed, dazed stare. âMore. Need you to give me more.â
You celebrated too soon. He sank back down, lapping more urgently. His tongue lacked the texture a humanâs did, preventing friction burn, but you were sensitive. Clit swollen, walls still pulsing, nerves on fire.Â
For the next two orgasms, Nierâs mouth and fingers were all you knew. They assaulted your leaking, aching pussy, scraping out and swigging down every drop of slick he wanted. Like your body heard his unsaid pleas, you didnât stop producing the heavenly liquid he became addicted to in mere moments.Â
It took you threatening to call for help for him to finally, at long fucking last, release your poor bundle of nerves from his bottomless maw. He released it with a squelching pop, his fingers following shortly after. Where you expected to feel nothing but relief, a hint of sorrow lingered with the sense of emptiness inside you. You smothered it.
His plush lips pressed to your inner thigh, his face absolutely drenched from the chin down. Had you not felt like a wrung out cloth, you would have felt beyond humiliated to see him in that state.Â
Compared to you, though, he hardly looked mussed at all. Where you were covered in a sheen of sweat, only his hair was slightly askew, ruffled by your hands that tried to claw him both closer and away from you. Your makeup was undoubtedly smudged, but he looked as put-together as he usually did. He didnât even have the courtesy to pretend to be out of breath after drowning himself between your thighs for the better part of fifteen or so minutes.
âSweet girl,â he cooed, crawling over your body. âIf you wanted me, you should have just said so.â
You weakly glared at him. âI donât wantââ
Digits slinked into your mouth, and you gagged around the unexpected intrusion. A tangy flavor spread across your tastebuds, and it took you a moment to identify that it was you.Â
The very fingers heâd used to finger you raw now massaged the squirming muscle behind your teeth, spreading the slick that had yet to dry onto it.Â
âShh, shh, no need to act shy,â he smiled disarmingly, charmingly, horribly. His hips slotted between your spread thighs, the rough fabric of his pants scraping against the undersides of your legs. Weak and exhausted, you didnât bother trying to lift your calves from where they were draped by his iliac crests. âI know what you need.â
His free hand worked its way under the waist of your dress, the cloth drawn up, up, up by his arm as he explored your stomach, the bottom of your ribs, over your left tit.
His palm fit so comfortably around your throat.
A collar made just for you.
When your chest was exposed, he freed your neck, the cool touch of synthetic skin around it retreating to instead find home on your breast. He squeezed the flesh, watched it spill through the gaps in between his digits. They spread out, pressed closer, pinched your nipple between them. You hissed, the twinge teetering on painful.Â
It wasnât horrible when the man â android â actually listened to your tells, silent or verbal. His tweaking gentled, curious exploration softened into tender interest. It lulled you into a false sense of security, the sense that he was running out of energy (was that even possible for him?). If you were lucky, his inquisitiveness would burn off soon and heâd leave you alone.
How could you forget that your luck ran out the moment you woke up in this lonely world, where you were surrounded by so many, yet never felt more isolated?
Your eyes shot open at a touch to your core, gaze drawn to the absolute behemoth heâd freed from his pants.Â
Fuck. So he did have the needed parts, after all.
Panic resurfaced, surging forth in a tsunami of adrenaline. Any peace you found was stripped away faster than you could wrap around yourself, the lack of its cozy warmth leaving a vicious chill that prickled your skin in goosebumps.
Predicting your escape attempt, his iron vise took your hips and forced them down, keeping you exposed and vulnerable to him and the monster he kept in his pants. Your kicking legs did nothing to aid you, nor harm him. Spread so wide to fit his oversized stature, they could do little more than uselessly kick at the blanket beneath you, ruffling the fabric. You clawed at it, him, anything you could, all fruitless. It wasnât working, but you had to keep trying, the animal part of your brain screaming to get away, get away, get away.
His position adjusted, the tip of his cock sliding through your folds to notch against your entrance. Your heart beat harder, barely beating at all. Your lungs strained, breath catching at the increasing pressure, your body fighting against letting him in.Â
âNo, no, get off me, get oâah!â
Nier pulled a choked yelp from you when he unceremoniously sank two inches into your core, stuck from the lack of slick on his cock. He hadnât bothered to rub himself against your soaked cunt, and while the thought of him doing so made you blanch, you would have preferred it now if he had.
A pinch formed in his brow, confusion evident as he tried to nudge further forward. You hissed and shoved at his chest, failing to move him at all. Damned android strength.
âOw, ow, stop, youâre hurting me!â You cried out. Unexpectedly, he listened, stopping what he was doing to look up at you with worried eyes. So much like the sky â colder the deeper you went.
He drew back minutely, a hand leaving your hip to delicately cup your cheek. The pad of his thumb, forever soft by his very nature, smoothed away a tear that slipped free. Maybe, if he hadnât been so eager to shove his dick into you, you would have believed the concern he wore like a second skin.
âDid I not prepare you enough?â He questioned quietly, lips barely parting to let the words pass. You wondered if he even needed to shape the words, or if he had a voice box that could do it for him.
It was less so the lack of preparation (god knows he gave you a lot of that), and more so his enthusiasm, him forgetting that his size downstairs remained proportional to his freakish height.
You shook your head, eyes squeezed shut. âNo, thatâs not â fuck â not it. Youâreâ too big.â
Just like that, he was relaxing, shoulders slumping in relief. âGoodness, dear, you should have said so.â
Like he gave you time to object. Like he gave you a chance to see and decide for yourself.
The stretch burned, discomfort making you twist and struggle pointlessly. It was subconscious more than anything else, a mindless desire to flee the pain.
Nier himself stayed as still as a statue, unsettling eyes locked onto your movement. The chance to become accustomed to his girth, the bizarre sensation of something not human attached to something that looked very human being inside of you, was a small blessing. It took ages, your muscles wound up with stress, but given no other option, you started to settle.
When your breath evened out, pulse steadying, Nier took that as his sign to continue his pursuit. He went much slower this time, afraid of hurting you again, and while a tiny sting remained, the slide was much smoother. He focused on your face, hyperanalyzing your every expression.Â
Minutes felt like hours before he finally bottomed out, his pelvis flush with yours. You let out a sharp exhale and slumped against the bed, sweat clinging to every inch of your skin as you tried (and failed) to ignore the fullness in your core. His size stretched you to what felt like your limit, pulled thin around him, forced to accommodate something you were never made to take.
But what he spoke into your hairline in reverence replayed in your mind as his thrusts grew more confident and his circuits shorted.
âYours, all for you, all for our god. For humanity. Made for you.â
He was made for you.
As man was made in the image of some long lost god, androids were made in the image of man.
Who were you to say you werenât their god? Nier certainly worshipped you, your body, like you were. He held you as gently as he could without the fear that youâd slip through his fingers, hips canting to find the angle that had you jolting and gasping through your teeth. He kissed and laved at your warm flesh like it was salvation and damnation all in one.Â
You melted further into his touch each time, your will chipped away at âtil he could dip his hands into your pliant chest, spread your ribs, and draw out your still-beating heart.
The twinge in your stomach soon faded into pleasure, eased by his unfaltering, unchanging pace. You didnât want to fight anymore, worn out by all your earlier struggles. You didnât want to lie anymore and say youâd rather take the pain over the pleasure, in spite of the guilt that made your gut churn from the admission. You were only human, at the end.
It was because of that fact that you were here, married to an obsessive, doting, man-made creation.Â
For the glory of humanity.
You came to that thought, to the knowledge that it was you alone in this world that could do this, that could have this.
Only you.
Your walls bore down on him, spine curving upwards as your orgasm crested. Stars bloomed behind your lids, exploding into beautiful supernovae, each fizzling away in a rain of glitter.
Nier groaned in response, muttering things you couldnât understand. His voice strained, turning metallic and distorted in some places. Whatever brain cells you had left noted that he could feel pleasure, too. He, too, could be strung thin by bliss to the point that his components had difficulty maintaining normal function.
Through the sensory overload, past the weakness in your arms, your own curiosity led you to cup his cheek, wanting to feel if he would get warm from exertion the same way you would. However, it seemed the touch made his system flow over. He hunched over your body, deathly still as his hips pressed into yours as far as they could go. There was nothing initially, and you worried you accidentally caused him to shut off â then you felt liquid trickle out of your entrance.
A bolt of lightning. Dreaded realization.
He came inside you.
Yet, as much as you wanted to, you no longer had the strength to fight him off.
âBeautiful,â he hailed, thrusts starting anew. âOur savior of humanity.â
All you could do was lay there and take it. Accept this was your fate, what would become of you. Neither servant nor master; an idol placed on a pedestal, sat on the lap of the very one who put you there. Crown adhered to your scalp, glimmering steel locked around your ring finger, and a dress that shimmered and twinkled in gold and silver.Â
What more could you do but succumb to the pleasure he so desired to give you, wear the gown and let him call you his queen, and him your king?
What was left for you? What remained in your control?
Did you ever have any to begin with?
You didnât know what round it happened on, only that it happened.
Between the zero breaks and various position changes, angles he wanted to test out to get the biggest reaction out of you, you reached a breaking point. Your body had been pushed too far, the overwhelming pleasure too much to handle.
Nier had you on his lap, back to his chest with one knee hooked over his arm while his free hand danced over your clit, rubbing precise, unfaltering circles into it, making sure to swipe the underside on every pass. You were too far out of it, mind lost somewhere in the ether, to warn him. Hell, your body didnât even warn you. All you knew was that one second, there was pressure.
And the next, you were squirting.
Hard.
It splattered onto the bed, soaking into the sheets. It coated both your thighs and his, body trembling from the sheer strength of your release.Â
That seemed to be his last straw.
With two more brutal thrusts, he hilted himself inside you and pumped whatever fluid into your cunt, plugging you up to the best of his ability. There was a sputter, a shudder in his body, then nothing.
He was finally empty. Everything he had was given to you, filled beyond full. His mission was complete.
The world was a hazy blur from there. Your aching body was moved around, sore muscles cramping. A cloth to your fragile skin, the cold rim of a glass to your lips, heaven in the form of water on your tongue.
When you came to properly, you were laid on your back, a blanket pulled up to your waist. The fireplace was sparking with dying embers, but the room remained warm. A pleasant sensation buzzed under your skin, keeping you loose and unwilling to move.
Exhausted. You were exhausted, utterly spent, wrung out like an old rag. Beside you, Nier breathed easily, his thumb stroking slowly over your stomach. Not for the first time, you wondered how something so distinctly inhuman could be so human.
You looked up, and found him already peering at you, gazing like he was capable of feeling love.
It hurt too much to wonder if it was possible at all. Burying your face into his collarbone, you chose to fade into your imagination, pretending that everything was normal and okay. You fantasized that this was wanted, that he was truly as loving as he portrayed himself to be, that he wasnât made of metal and wires.
Maybe, if you pretended hard enough, it would all be okay.

My god I am obsess w/ this
The Sacrifice for Harmony Rose
Iâve never been hurt by the fact that my stepfather loved my sister more than me. For me, itâs just that- a fact.
I donât remember my real dad at all, really. He passed away when I was around two or three years old. I remember meeting Dale for the first time, although even thatâs getting pretty fuzzy. I remember the giant of a man kneeling down to my level, stone faced and solemn.
Then he reached forward and gave my hand a shake. âYou like spaghetti?â He asked. I only nodded, too shy to speak. He just grunted and headed to the kitchen to start throwing dinner together. Dale can make a killer spaghetti. And I didnât even like spaghetti until then.
Iâm not saying he doesnât love me. He definitely does, back then he did his best to connect with a shy kid thatâd rather color than talk to people. He had also been married before, married and divorced with a son that was much older than I was. Max was already seventeen when I was only six. And it was at six years old that my mom and Dale had my sister, Harmony-Rose. Just Harmony for short, of course.
The moment that tiny baby was handed to Dale I knew heâd completely fallen in love. I was little, but I could tell he was doing his best to hold back tears. An effort that was wasted, as a tear trickled down his cheek as he sat down and rocked her back and forth.
Dale took a pay cut to be able to work from home for the first few years of Harmonyâs life. Mom once said he got up for more midnight feedings and diaper changes than she did. Maybe back then I got a little jealous now and then, but Iâd only need to look at Harmonyâs sweet face to realize why he loved her so much. She was perfect. An easy going baby who laughed and cooed with everyone but daddyâs girl all the way, I couldnât be mad at her. I love Harmony too.
Sheâs never stopped being an amazing little sister either. From a sweet baby to a well mannered toddler, all the way up till spring of this year, she has always been just the best. I did get closer to Max as the years went by, when I stopped being a little kid and became a teenager you could actually have a conversation with, but Harmony was just always there.
Iâm not saying she stopped being the best. Iâm just saying thatâs when⌠well⌠she got sick.
Iâd just turned eighteen, Harmony now a go getting twelve year old. She was a part of her schoolâs gymnastics team, had all the friends, but she always gave me a tackle hug when she came home. She told me about all the boys she thought were cute, and the ones that werenât so much. Iâd promise to stomp in the faces of any that made her cry, and Harmony would make a point of poking my bicep and raising an eyebrow. No words needed. Iâm a wimp.
Mom and Dale just thought it was just a flu bug that wouldnât go away. I did too. And Harmony, well, what else would she think it was? She always had bruises from gymnastics practice, the fact they werenât going away didnât occur to any of us that there was a further problem.
By the time we went to the doctor, the damage had already been done.
Leukemia. Fucking leukemia. How could Harmony have leukemia? It doesnât run in our family and up until then sheâd rarely even gotten a cold. Leukemia diagnoses happens to other families, other kids. Not Harmony. It couldnât happen to Harmony.
My mom told me that when the doctor broke the news, Dale fell to his knees. Both her and the doctor thought he was about to pass out, his face was white with shock. Dale doted on Harmony, was always in her corner when she needed back up, and she was one of the few people heâd drop the stern outer shell for to show his soft heart. And now there was something he couldnât fight for her, no matter how hard he tried.
Harmony tried to be positive at first. âIâm a tough kidâ, sheâd said, mock flexing and reassuring her dad that sheâd beat this. She went into chemo treatments with a smile on her face, and as her hair fell out sheâd had me help shave her head, cracking jokes about how she now looked like season one Eleven from Stranger Things.
I think even then she was putting on a brave face. The doctors hadnât lied, her form of leukemia was particularly aggressive. Maybe if weâd caught it sooner, weâd be better off, but that just wasnât how the cards played out.
Harmony was dying. We all knew she was dying. The spunky girl with the energy of a lighting strike faded away rapidly, turning into a pale child with sunken dull eyes and barely a smile. She was always tired, and as the months passed with no real improvement, her sense of humor waned and Iâd often catch her lost in thought.
Two months ago she called me to her bedroom, asking if she could talk with me alone. Dale actually quit his job so he could be with her 24/7, caring for her every need. It was hard for us to get sibling time, just the two of us hanging out together.
Harmony was staring out her window as I slipped into her bedroom, clearly a lot on her mind. On her lap was a folded over piece of notebook paper. She didnât say anything, just handed me the paper and calmly waited as I unfolded it and began to read it.
It hit me like a fucking truck when I realized what it was.
â⌠A will?â I asked quietly.
Harmony shuddered and nodded, dropping all pretenses of false bravado. âYou can donate my books for me, right? Or give some to Max, I think Jayce would love them when he gets old enough.â
I wanted to say she wasnât going to die. I wanted to tell her she could still beat this. But I think she knew better than the rest of us that we werenât going to get lucky. I read through this little girlâs will carefully, having to reread every line as my vision was blurring with tears. âI can do that. Donât think this is legally binding though,â I tried to joke.
Harmony smiled, just for a second. âWell, tough, lawyers arenât cheap.â Taking another deep breath, her gaze returned out the window. âThis isnât fair,â She murmured.
I nodded, folding her will back up. âNo, it isnât,â I agreed.
Harmony sighed with relief, flopping forward and burying her face in her hands. âWhy did I have to get sick? Itâs bullshit, I didnât do anything wrong! Iâm healthier than all of you, or I was, I just⌠this is bullshit,â She said, talking so fast I could barely make it out.
I reached forward and patted her head. âIt is complete bullshit. If I could swap places with you, I would.â I meant it too.
âDonât even put that out there, you dumb fuck.â
I laughed, I couldnât help it. âDonât let Dale hear you say that. Heâll never recover knowing that his baby girl knows the word âfuckâ,â I said.
She looked back up, shaking her head but she was smiling. She was⌠at peace. I could just see the burden lifted off her shoulders. âThank you, Joel. Keep that will somewhere safe for me,â She said.
âI promise.â
I pulled her into a tight hug. I knew that this will meant the end was near and that Harmony was fully aware of that. The Grim Reaper was around the corner and she wanted to be ready for him.
When I left her bedroom, I saw that Daleâs office door was cracked open, but didnât think much of it, and didnât bother to check if he was in there. Dale was usually in bed by then anyway.
I donât think he was. I think he heard every word that passed between me and Harmony that night. That his baby girl had made a will for all her belongings, from her treasured stuffed animals to her collection of colorful rocks sheâd bought from various museums and zoos over the years. I had every intention of following that will as closely as possible when she did pass.
But that broke Dale. So thatâs why he did what he did. Thatâs the difference between me and him, really. Iâd be willing to give up anything, even my life, to save Harmony-Rose⌠but he was willing to set the world on fire and let it burn, all for her.
My bedroom window faces into the back yard, right into the forest that stretches around our property for miles. I was having trouble going to sleep that night, that day in particular had been especially bad for Harmony. It had been a week after Iâd been given her handwritten will and it was clear sheâd finally given up the fight. I was afraid if I went to sleep, Iâd wake up and sheâd be gone.
I was finally starting to doze off when I saw Dale in the backyard, cradling Harmony in his arms. Heâd not been able to really carry her these last few years, but sheâd shrunk so much she looked like a skeleton in his arms. For a second, I thought she might be dead, but I saw her shift in his arms. She was just asleep, too tired to even stir.
Daleâs face was completely blank and devoid of any emotion. Heâd spent the last few days like that, almost completely oblivious to the world around him. He hugged her tight, looked into the woods, and started walking. I watched him until he vanished into the trees.
I fell asleep after that. I didnât even know how to even remotely process what Iâd just seen, and when I woke up the next morning Iâd thought it was just a dream.
I went to Harmonyâs room after Iâd gotten dressed, expecting to walk in and see her still asleep.
Instead, I saw a glimpse of the girl sheâd been all before this diagnosis. She was still bald, but the color had returned to her face and she was up and out of bed, looking just as puzzled as I felt. She looked up at me.
âJoel, I feel⌠I feel okay. And I feel hungry. Can you ask Dad for pancakes?â
For a girl whoâd not had an appetite in months, this was mind blowing. She ended up having a whole stack of blueberry pancakes, all the while Dale looked on, pleased as could be. He took her to the doctorâs right after breakfast, and for once I tagged along since Mom had to go to work. I didnât really like hospitals and no one ever made me go anyway, but this time I wanted to see if this was just a âgood dayâ.
Instead, we were given the best news we could ever imagine. Suddenly, after months of radiation and chemotherapy doing jack shit, Harmonyâs leukemia had finally gone into remission. A complete and total 180 from her last appointment. The only explanation the doctors could give?
âItâs a miracle. It really is a miracle.â
And well, it kinda was. Just not one that came without cost.
It started right when we were heading home. Harmony and Dale were over the moon, already planning to order out for Hawaiian pizza while I openly judged them for wanting to ruin a perfectly good pizza with pineapple. We turned the corner and saw two police cars in front of our neighborâs driveway.
Like I said before, weâre surrounded by woods, but thereâs a few other families in the immediate area. Itâs the kind of place where everyone has a driveway at least a quarter of a mile long, if youâve lived in a place like that you know what Iâm talking about. The family closest to us and the one with the police presence was the Fosters. They have a son thatâs close to my age but heâs an asshole, so I tend to avoid him, but his parents are all right.
I saw Dale grip the steering wheel a little tighter but he didnât attempt to even slow down to see what was going on. Harmony frowned. âShouldnât we go make sure Mr. and Mrs. Foster are okay?â She asked.
âAfter the cops leave, we donât want to get in their way,â He said in a tone I wasnât used to hearing- the kind of sound a person has in their voice when they lie. Harmony hadnât missed it either, but she just changed the subject back to Hawaiian pizza and what to do for dessert afterwards.
Once we got back, I dropped my stuff off in my room and immediately beelined for the back door. I just barely stepped out the back door when I heard someone clear their throat. I looked behind me to see that Harmony was waiting for me, her arms crossed and giving me an âare you kidding me?â look.
âWhat, did you really think you were gonna check out what happened to the Fosters on your own?â
I did attempt to come up with an excuse as to why Harmony should hold back on this one, but instead I just sighed and started walking, my little sister hot on my heels. I imagine she was suffering from a bit of cabin fever, itâs hard going out and doing shit when youâre on deathâs door.
I might not have cared much for Daniel Foster, but since he was on the back porch having a smoke from his watermelon vape, I figured he was the best line for questioning.
Daniel gave us both a stink eye as we emerged from the woods, blowing a mouthful of sickly sweet smoke in our direction. Harmony plopped down on the swingset that was still in the Fosterâs backyard despite the fact it hadnât been used since Daniel was younger than she was. I walked up to the porch. âSaw the cop cars at the mouth of your driveway. Weâre just here to check in if youâre okay,â I said.
After glaring for a second more, Daniel sighed and hopped off the porch, jamming his hands in his jeans pockets. âSomething broke in last night, attacked the dogs, trashed the house. Dadâs out of town and you know how shit cellphone signalâs out here. We couldnât connect to 911 so mom and I just barricaded ourselves in her room,â He said.
Harmony cocked her head to the side. âSomething?â She asked.
Daniel gestured for us to follow him. âIt definitely wasnât a person. It was probably a bear, its claw marks are everywhere,â He said as we walked to the other side of the house.
My skin crawled as I saw the large score marks under the bedroom window that was still blocked by a wardrobe. Harmony reached forward and brushed her fingers against the decimated siding. âWow,â She said in her shock.
âDid you see it? The bear, I mean,â I asked.
Daniel shook his head. âNah. Didnât want to. Had the gun ready just in case it got into the room, but it didnât. It scratched up Bella and Griffin real good, theyâre both at the vet now getting patched up.â
Bella and Griffin were a pair of large rottweilers, big babies really, they were the main upside to come visit the Fosters. âWill they be okay?â I asked.
âShould be.â Daniel took a deep breath and shuddered. âI- I think my mom was really scared. She kept saying it didnât move like a bear, but all she got was a glimpse before we hid. Bears⌠bears make roaring sounds, right? Like a lion or a tiger?â
Harmony frowned and straightened up, glancing at me for the answer that she was pretty certain about herself. The description enough definitely puzzled me. âHonestly, bears tend to be pretty quiet. When theyâre freaked out, theyâre more likely to make huffing or grunting sounds, and they definitely donât sound like wildcats,â I said.
âFucking weirdo,â Daniel turned away, jamming his shaking hands into his pockets, probably hoping I couldnât see them. âWhat do you do, just go out and watch bears on the weekend?â
âHey, you asked, dumbass. Come on, Harmony,â I gestured for my little sister to follow along, not at all in the mood to deal with Danielâs shittiness.
âWait. So you know what bear prints look like too then?â
I paused. âAre there prints?â I asked.
Daniel walked over to the treeline and motioned us over. Hesitantly, I followed.
The print that was there was sure as hell not a bearâs print, and I think Daniel knew that too. The mud captured the print perfectly, long spindly fingers carving deep scratches into the mud with smaller palms. It was like a person had dragged their hand through the mud, but it wasnât quite right.
I snapped a picture of it with my phone. âYeah, I⌠I donât think thatâs a bear print,â I said, trying to keep my voice level. Something about it set the hair on my neck standing straight up.
âThen what is it?â Daniel asked.
I sent the picture to Dale with the message âfound this near the Fosterâs, what made this trackâ. âI have no freaking clue,â I admitted.
Harmony bent down next to it. âItâs so weird,â She muttered.
I didnât expect my phone to immediately buzz, Dale was god awful at responding to texts at a decent time. I turned my phone back on to an even more shocking response.
âCome home right now. I donât want you back in the woods now.â
âDale doesnât know either, and heâs telling us to come home ASAP,â I gave Harmonyâs shoulder a tap and that got her attention. âLetâs go, sis. See you, Daniel. Stay safe, man.â
He just grunted in response and jogged back into his house.
Once we got back, Dale explained his for his curt demand was that he was worried about that bear that came after the Fosters. Apparently heâd called Mrs. Foster the moment we got back and got the story from her. If it was so bold to break into a personâs house, god knows what itâd do to me wandering out alone out there⌠and I especially shouldnât bring Harmony-Rose out there.
I did hear Harmony mutter something along the lines of âscrew thatâ as we got ready to go pick up the pizza for dinner. Not that I blamed her, since she was finally feeling better to go out and about. But that track still made me super curious. So the next day, I went to the other person who might know a thing about animal tracks- my older stepbrother, Max.
The visit was first pretty normal, just light chatter about the warm weather and how things have been going at Maxâs work. I got to play with Jayce, who was ecstatic to see his âUncle Joelâ and of course Maxâs wife Lisa popped in to ask how I was doing and if I was seeing anyone (girls or boys, she always makes sure to specify), and then she had to bustle right back out because she had to run errands.
After we got all the small talk out of the way, Max set his coffee mug down and brought up the biggest news to date.
âSo, Harmony. Sheâs better?â He asked.
I shrugged. âCancerâs suddenly beating a hasty retreat. Doctors say be cautious but hopeful. Said itâs a real miracle,â I said.
âHmm. Thatâs⌠interesting,â Maxâs brow knitted in concern, âAnd sheâs going back for more tests? Just to be sure? I mean, any false hope will actually kill Dad.â
âYeah, she should be going back for more tests by the end of the week. But you should see her, it really is a complete 180 with how sheâs acting,â I shook my head, âI barely believe it. But she had like six slices of pizza last night, and sheâd eaten breakfast that morning, a stack of Daleâs pancakes. And she didnât throw up.â
Maxâs concerned expression didnât vanish as he went for another sip, âMaybe, just keep an eye on her- oh fuck that!â
I barely dodged the surge of coffee spilling in my direction as Max literally threw the contents across the table. I was about to ask what the hell was wrong with him when I saw it.
A centipede, two of them actually, squirming and writhing in the pooling dark liquid. Max quietly gagged before heading to the sink. âDidnât even see those little bastards crawl in there. Really hope I wasnât drinking centipede coffee this whole time.â He turned on the tap and looked back at me. âYou want something to drink? I promise, it wonât have a bug infestation.â
I opened my mouth to say a glass of water wouldnât be so bad when I looked at the flow coming from the faucet and the words wouldnât come out of my mouth.
It wasnât like it was just red or rusty colored water. Water and blood have different consistencies, and the thick scarlet liquid now overflowing Maxâs mug and dripping down his hand was sure as hell not water. Max looked confused at my likely shocked face and was probably about to ask what was up when we both smelled it. The smell that always shows up when you have a bloody nose, except a thousand times more potent and bittersweet, like it was rotting.
Max stared at his sink now filling up with blood, and I bolted for his bathroom to throw up. Iâm not good around blood. I barely made it to the sink before I puked my breakfast and the chocolate shake Iâd picked up at the corner store before I hit up Maxâs place.
After coughing a bit, I made the mistake of trying to wash down the puke down the drain. Thankfully it only took one crimson drop from the faucet for me to turn it back off. I sunk to the floor, my world going topsy turvy as I did my best to keep breathing so I wouldnât pass out. I barely succeeded. Max had to help me get out of the bathroom and put me up in his guest room while he went to figure out just what the hell was up with their plumbing. I was just about as useful as wet noodle so he let me be while Jayce showed me all his dinosaur toys to make me feel better. Obviously, any intention of showing him the strange tracks went out the window as I was struggling just to be a living person.
It wasnât just Maxâs house having âplumbing issuesâ. While I lived in the middle of the woods, he had settled down in a nice neighborhood that was just missing white picket fences to complete the perfect vibe. All up and down the street people were turning on the water to have blood come squirting out of their faucets. One poor person had gone in for a late shower and had an actual to god panic attack as they were coated in disgusting red fluid. The ambulance showed up and everything to make sure they were all right.
I felt like absolute garbage until I got home, driven there by Max. But when I walked through the door and saw Harmony dancing along to some song on the radio, I felt like a million bucks seeing her like this. Bright. Vibrant. Pain free. A complete and total turn around. I did tell her about the blood spewing out of our brotherâs sink and she was naturally quite horrified by that turn of events, but we came to the conclusion it wasnât actually blood. I mean, it couldnât be blood. A lot of things would have to be dead to have every faucet bleeding on my brotherâs street.
Harmony made leaps and strides in terms of recovery in the matter of a week. Every test came back with confirmation the disease that was going to cut her short life off was retreating at unnatural speeds. I encouraged her to start practicing her gymnastic moves, knowing if she kept bouncing back like this sheâd want to rejoin her team. With Harmony getting better, the house seemed generally so much happier. My mom only cried with joy whenever she saw Harmony practically skipping around the house and Dale⌠man, Dale. Truly the happiest about this all was Dale.
Plans began taking form. Trips to Disney, a vacation out west to go visit all the national parks, the future that weâd originally thought might have been robbed from us was suddenly now in our grasp again. I was just as excited as my parents to be honest. I love Harmony, so much. I wanted to just focus on her now.
But as our house began to gain life, everyone elseâs began to⌠fall apart. Rot from the corners and collapse.
Even if I was focused mostly on my little sister, I couldnât help but notice that things were different. More bloody plumbing began popping up all over town, to the point where a notice was put out about not drinking any tap water until they find the source of this. Apparently some professional talking out their ass said it was more than likely some kind of infestation of mold, and all they needed to do was find the source and all would be okay again.
Thing is, they couldnât find a source. I donât know how much time was spent or how much money the town poured into to tear open water mains or go through every centimeter of the treatment plant, but it was turning up squat.
Dale was still not letting us out in the woods. If I so much as looked at the back door he was the first to ask me to âdo the dishesâ or ârun an errand into townâ for him. Not until they found the bear, which I still didnât feel was right. Bears didnât leave prints like that. Bears just⌠werenât like that.
Then I got that call from Daniel.
I had given my number to Daniel freaking ages ago. My parents made me because they wanted us to be friends. Yeah, no, Iâd rather not be friends with the jackass who insulted me literally every other sentence. Around three AM I heard my phone start to ring and I had to scramble to get it. I nearly missed the call and didnât even check the caller ID before I answered it I was in such a rush. I couldnât even ask who it was before Daniel scream-whispered into my ear,
âSomethingâs wrong with the dogs!â
I wiped the sleep from my eyes. âThe fuck?â I managed to get out, my voice slurring with sleep.
âThey⌠they were just so quietâŚâ I heard Daniel swear quietly and the sound of someone checking the lock on a door. âWhen they came back, they looked fine and were patched up, but they were just so fucking quiet. I didnât give a shit, but I just got home from a night out, and- oh my god, thereâs so much blood?â Daniel sniffled and I realized he was starting to cry.
âI canât find my dad, my momâs⌠sheâs passed out, she got bit real bad. I got her wrapped up real good but thereâs not much else I can do. The dogs, Christ, Joel⌠the dogs. Theyâre so fucked up. They tried to get me too but Iâm hiding in my parentâs room. Called 911, Iâm freaking the fuck out, I donât know when theyâre going to get here, and fuck knows if theyâll get to the right house. Please, man, you gotta help me. I donât wantâŚâ Danielâs voice cracked, my neighbor now starting to sob. âI donât want my mom to die, man.â
Maybe Iâm not friends with Daniel, but I sure as hell wasnât going to leave him in a jam like that. I assumed rabies, because you know, thatâs the closest thing to a rational explanation I could come to.
I woke Dale up and told him what Daniel told me. I didnât want to go over there alone, and although Dale had been acting a bit off, I expected heâd help me at least get Mrs. Foster and Daniel out of the house.
He did follow me over. But he also grabbed his hunting knife, and he made sure his rifle was loaded before he swung it over his back.
Dale really didnât hunt often, only going when his buddies asking him to tag along. I thought Dale was a lousy shot, since he never brought anything home he killed himself. I figured it was just an excuse to go out and drink beer.
We entered the Foster house and it was just as Daniel said- the living room covered in blood. I barely managed to swallow my vertigo as I followed Dale, the silence so much it felt like it was going to swallow me. It was only quiet for a few seconds though, then I heard the unsettling sound- the jingling of a dogâs tags.
One of the rottweilers ambled into the living room and even with how dark it was, my initial assumptions of the dogs being rabid was immediately put out of my mind. Rabies doesnât give you large tumorous growths sprouting from under your bandages that oozed a reddish pus. The dog cocked its head to the side for just a moment before its lips curled back, a thin rusty colored film covering its teeth and tongue. It tensed up, ready to pounce⌠and Dale fired a shot right into its skull.
It dropped with not even a whimper, a perfect kill shot. The other rottweiler skidded in after its friend and I nearly vomited at the sight of even more tumors growing from its neck and back. This dog also had a tail. Yes, I know, rotties are known for those little stumpy tails, but I swear to god, this dog now had a tail sprouting from its backside, arched over its body like a scorpionâs tail. I didnât get a better look until Dale downed that dog too. Despite having to swallow down the urge to puke again, I walked up to the second dogâs body. The name reflecting back from its tag read âGriffinâ.
This wasnât the Griffin I knew. The âtailâ hadnât sprouted from its actual tail, it had come from in front of it. A closer look at Bellaâs body and I saw that skin and fur had rotted away from some of her side, revealing putrid decaying flesh stretched over cracked ribs that had were turning black.
I ended up having to collapse on the couch to avoid passing out on the disgusting floor, leaving Dale alone to stride back into the bedrooms to find Daniel and his mom.
When the ambulances finally arrived, Mrs. Foster was dead. Mr. Fosterâs body was found in the kitchen, practically ripped limb from limb. Daniel was catatonic, his eyes glazed over as he was wrapped in a shock blanket, and leaving Dale to explain that by the time heâd gotten in there Mrs. Foster had already passed, the bite must have severed her brachial artery. Her body was covered when it was wheeled out, but I caught a glimpse of her bitten arm, and how it was already growing bulbous tumors like that was on the dogs.
I also noticed that Daleâs hunting knife was now conspicuously missing.
When we got home, he pulled me aside and quietly told me one thing:
âDonât tell your mother. Or your sister.â
I didnât need to ask what he didnât want me to tell. I kept my mouth shut. Maybe if I didnât talk about it, it wasnât real. The mutant rottweilers from hell, the fact that Mrs. Foster was now dead and how I had this gut feeling that something really bad had gone down in that room when Dale went in there.
There were more attacks. Reports of shadowy, long legged beasts roaming around our neck of the woods, that moved too quickly for anyone to get a good look, and pets would vanish only to turn up torn to pieces. Probably a better fate than what happened to the Fosterâs rottweilers.
Only one person was directly attacked other than the Fosters. Mr. Green was taking his garbage out when he was pounced by what his wife described as âtwo thin beasts with overly long legsâ. They literally ate his face off, god, it makes me sick to even say that. She managed to get them away and call 911, but with her signal going in and out it took them forever to get there. They took the somehow still living Mr. Green to the hospital, but he didnât last. He developed a fever that went far beyond the livable temperatures, and even if he did live I imagined it would be kind of a shitty life, since his face was entirely gone.
I didnât get to hear if there were any more tumors, since I had to listen in on this conversation between Mrs. Green and my mom. Poor widow was clearly traumatized by what she saw.
In town wasnât much better though, as Iâd find out when I went to go visit Max. The start of the most fucked up day.
âLisaâs taking time off work. She doesnât want Jayce at daycare.â
Max looked, well, a mess. The water still hadnât been fixed, and it looked like he hadnât had a decent shave or a bath in days, probably since this all started.
âHeâs been such a fussy kid lately,â Max flopped back on his position on the couch with a loud sigh. âSame with all the other kids who go to that daycare.â
âThink itâs the bad water?â I asked, nodding to the absolute mountain of water bottles by the front door, barely contained in their garbage bags.
Max shrugged, running his hands through his hair. âI just⌠I donât know. His eczema is acting up again too, but that might just be because of the heat. Weâve been using bottled water for almost everything, including baths. I feel like I need a long shower, but every time we turn on the pipes itâs just,â he shuddered, âWell, you know.â
I patted my brotherâs back. âMaybe you can come over and stay at our house for a bit? I doubt Dale will mind.â
Max was quiet, shifting uncomfortably and staring at his clasped hands before he spoke up.
âJoel, did Dad- did Dale do anything weird, leading up to Harmonyâs recovery? Was he acting quiet, or did⌠did he go out to the woods late at night?â
I remembered what happened the night before Harmonyâs miracle. Up till then, Iâd made myself believe it was really some kind of dream. I swallowed. âWhy?â I responded, trying to keep my voice level.
It didnât work. Maxâs eyes narrowed and I could tell he knew I knew something. âWhen did he go out there, Joel?â He said, his voice quiet and icy cold.
âWhy does it matter?â I asked, still trying to avoid answering the question.
Max chewed on his lip, a small speck of blood forming when he ripped off a piece of dried skin. âIt matters, Joel. Youâre not his blood, so I donât blame him for not telling you, but⌠thereâs something you do need to know about those woods. About the far back, past the lake, through the wet cave, thereâs a patch of trees-â
Max was cut off by a loud crash from the kitchen. I just about jumped out of my skin and Max was up, bolting for the source of the sound.
âLisa!? Lisa! Whatâs wrong?â
I got up and followed behind Max, nearly bumping into him as he stood frozen in the doorway.
Lisa was on all fours, groping wildly at the floor and murmuring something to herself that I couldnât quite make out. My heart hammering in my chest, I pushed past Max and slowly walked into the kitchen. âLisa? You all right?â I asked.
I nearly stepped on it, since it mostly blended into the white linoleum floor. But at the last second I saw the red stumps protruding from the back of the small white orbs. I nudged one with my foot and I actually pissed my pants a little when I saw the light brown irises of Lisaâs eyes staring back at me.
âMy⌠my eyesâŚâ
The hair on my neck stood right up as I looked towards Lisa, whoâs head lifted up in my direction, likely hearing my panicked breathing.
âH-help me find my eyes?â
I stared into the black sockets of Lisaâs skull, her face pale as her hands continued to blindly grope along the kitchen floor. A maggot crawled out of her left eye, squirming onto her cheek before dropping onto the floor.
I screamed. I ran. I ran right into the front door and knocked myself out. Not exactly a thing to be proud of, but fuck it. I saw a woman searching for her fallen out eyes. When I came to, the ambulance was there, rushing Lisa to the hospital while another EMT was making sure I didnât accidentally give myself a concussion in my panic to get away. I didnât, but it didnât matter. Max had already headed to the hospital with Jayce and I was left in their home alone, unable to get the image of Lisaâs eyeless face out of my mind.
I had Dale pick me up, but I was too scared to ask him about the wet cave and the patch of woods behind it.
There was one other person I could ask what went down that night though. I could ask my sister, Harmony-Rose.
I found her in her bedroom that night, sitting at the foot of her bed and staring into her mirror. In her hands was clutched the light pink handkerchief sheâd used to cover her head once the chemo took her hair away.
I sat on the bed behind her, waiting for her to come out of whatever thought she was in. We sat in silence for a few minutes before she turned around.
âJoel? I think somethingâs wrong with me.â
My stomach turned. I was about to ask if she was feeling sick again when I looked at her⌠I mean, really looked at her.
Sure, she had been bouncing back, but she looked almost entirely back to normal now. The weight had been put back on in a matter of days, and her hair was already regrowing, reaching to cover her ears⌠but it wasnât really her hair, either.
Harmony-Rose had our motherâs hair, dark brown, sleek and smooth. And I had heard about how when a chemo patientâs hair grows back, sometimes it looks a bit different. The textureâs changed, the colorâs lightened or darkened.
The texture had changed, now it was much curlier, but the color was what got me. Parts were the same, but other locks had grown in a shocking shade of silver. I reached forward to give her hair a tussle and was surprised by how thick it had become. âDo you feel different?â I asked.
Harmony shook her head. âI feel⌠fine. Too fine. Recovery shouldnât- it just doesnât go like this. I shouldnât be building back muscle so fast, I shouldnât be,â She ran her hands through her new grown hair, âmy hair should be taking its time, and itâs almost normal now, except for the⌠colorâŚâ She shuddered. âJoel, whatâs happening to me?â
I shook my head. âI donât know. But I have a theory.â
I told her about what I saw the night before her recovery began. When I finished, Harmony had gone white as a sheet, but her eyes lit up with the return of some memories of that night.
âI thought I was asleep,â Harmony tugged at the strands of her hair, âAnd just had some really whacked out dreams.â
âWhat happened?â I urged her to say.
Harmony took a deep breath to clear her thoughts.
âI remember Dad carrying me out back. Like when I was little and Iâd fall asleep on the couch during a movie. I knew I could feel I was outside, because it was windy, but I was too tired to really do anything except lay still. Dad carried me for a long time, I remember hearing the leaves crunching under his feet. Then we walked through someplace⌠maybe underground? His footsteps echoed off the walls. And then when we left that he set me down on my feet. Told me to walk alongside him. There was wet needles under my feet and the place smelled like bad breath and something sickly sweet. We were surrounded by pine trees. I didnât really open my eyes, I was so tired, but when I did, I saw⌠things. Eyes looking out from between the branches. Big, yellow eyes. I couldnât even make out what they belonged to, dad just hurried me along and told me I couldnât stop.
âWe came to this large⌠rock. I think. There was someone sitting on top, with very long legs and arms. Like twice the size they shouldâve been. Dad helped me lie down in the dirt in front of the rock and told me to go back to sleep. I tried, but his voice kept me awake. I think he was talking to the person on the rock, told them he had the key, and was willing to make an exchange,â Harmony reached up, touching the locks of hair that were now colorless, âAnd something wet and slimy touched my head⌠I was too scared to reopen my eyes. And I heard⌠I heard someone else say that it would be done. Suddenly I was just so cold, I couldnât stop shivering, and it feels like thereâs hundreds of bugs crawling all over me⌠ the next thing I know Iâm waking up in bed, and Iâm hungry, and I donât feel like a pile of garbage.
I glanced out back to the forest that had surrounded my home. The very thought that something was actually dangerous in there was, well, it felt stupid. I played back there almost every day as a kid and saw nothing more than squirrels and birds, maybe the occasional garter snake or deer. But nothing like what she described.
âIâm going to go see.â
I donât know why I felt like it was so important for me to go check it out, but I had to be sure for myself.
I was barely out the back door when I heard a click and saw the beam of a flashlight. I turned to see Harmony right behind me, wearing a coat that finally fit her again instead of making her look like she was drowning in cloth. I originally opened my mouth to object to her coming along, but I shut it just as quickly and started walking.
The far back of the woods. Past the lake and the wet cave. Harmony and I walked in almost complete silence, only hearing the croaking of frogs and chirping crickets that hung heavily on the night air. Iâd been back here so often I knew what Max was talking about. Iâd only gone in the cave once, but since it was so gross I only poked my head in and never went back. When I walked through it this time, I felt Harmonyâs hand in mine, I felt it shake.
When we exited into the forest behind the cave, we were officially in a place I had never been before. Even the trees looked different, the flashlight casting long shadows along the pebbles that looked like claws. While my steps got more uncertain on the stone path, Harmonyâs pace picked up.
âI remember⌠this. I remember this.â
Harmony breathed in slowly, her gaze flicking back and forth. âWhatever you do, Joel, donât look to the sides. Theyâll eat you alive,â She said.
I knew better than to ask how the hell she knew that. âWhy wonât they eat you?â I asked, the hair on my neck standing up. Back here not even the crickets were making a racket, the only sounds were my breathing and the occasional snap of a twig past the treeline, just enough to let me know that we werenât alone.
âBecause whatever my dad did to me, it made me a part of them.â
Harmony and I kept walking until we reached the clearing, where the heavy silence was finally broken by something else. Arguing.
It took me longer than normal to recognize Maxâs voice, his words were colliding and slurring together so they were barely recognizable. Harmonyâs grip on my hand turned so tight it nearly cut off circulation, and we both ducked behind a tree before peering around to see Max.
He was so drunk he was barely standing up straight, his cheeks bright red and his hair sticking up with sweat. At the very back of the small clearing was something I recognized as an obelisk, made of a black flecked gray stone and carved with letters I couldnât recognize. And by the obelisk was Dale.
âSo all those years⌠every fuckinâ year you told me that it was the most important fuckinâ responsibility,â Max swayed back and forth, barely catching himself from just falling to the ground, âYou were just talking out of your ass? Because the moment you need something, you c-come back here and let them out?!â
Dale was quiet, his face expressionless. â⌠We were out of-â
âDonât. Donât fucking give me that shit, dad!â Max burst into messy sobs, tears rolling down his cheeks and snot dribbling from his nose. âLisaâs dead! So many people are dead, because you took the key and let them out to save Harmony!â
âSheâs your sister-â
âSo what about other peopleâs sisters?!â Max pointed an accusatory finger at Dale, spittle flying from his mouth as he began to scream at his father. âWhat about other peopleâs wives?! Other peopleâs s-s-sooonnsâŚ.â Max trailed off before he threw his head back and screamed into the sky.
Dale finally showed something other than apathy, blinking a few times in shock before he looked concerned. âWhat happened to Jayce?â He asked softly.
âI donât fucking know, how about you ask your fucking monsters?!â Max pointed up and I finally noticed there was someone sitting on top of the obelisk.
It was just as Harmony recounted for me earlier, a man with limbs twice as long as they shouldâve been, but his face⌠the gray skin was stretched so tightly over his skull, his lips parted in a painful looking smile as his yellow eyes stared down at the arguing pair.
Dale glanced up at that⌠that thing. âWhat happened to Jayce, then, Balem?â
Balem yawned, revealing rows upon rows of needle teeth in his mouth that stretched back down his throat and covered his pointed tongue that was dripping in a thick white saliva. When he spoke, his mouth moved a moment slower than the words leaving him, like he was lipsyncing along to his speech. âWhat happened to the rest of the children at that Greenhill daycare. The carpet cleaner was diluted with water- tap water. They were infested.â Balemâs manic grin returned.
Daleâs face went white as a sheet. He stammered for a few moments, trying to come up with a response. âIâm so sorry, Max, I didnât mean for this-â
âAnd you still did it!â Max cackled, his eyes rolling into his head to only show their whites as he continued to laugh without sounding a least bit amused. When he finally stopped, his face twisted in such a way I could barely recognize him as my stepbrother anymore. âYou fucking hypocrite. You traded everyoneâs lives for Harmony, the same thing you told me not to do for anyone- not even mom.â
Dale stared at his shoes. I think he knew he was in the wrong here, but there was really no coming back from what heâd done. â⌠Itâll only be for a bit more, Max, a week or two more and Harmony will be completely healed,â He said.
âAnd whatâll happen during those two weeks!?â Max shook his head. âUnbelievable. So, whatâs the deal? As long as sheâs alive and recovering in town, these freaks get full run of the place? I can think of a good way to end that.â
My heart almost stopped at the implication. Dale looked ready to be sick. âNo, no, you canât! If you hurt her, then all of this would be for nothing!â
âIt already was!â Max began winding his way through the clearing. âYouâre responsible for everyone whoâs getting hurt and killed! You did! You might as well have put a gun to their head! At least when I kill Harmony, itâll be peaceful, and sheâll never know her life was paid for with her nephewâs blood-â
It happened so fast. Max took a step too close to Dale and Dale grabbed Max by the head, slamming his son into the obelisk so hard his skull cracking sounded like a gunshot.
Max slid to the ground, his smashed head leaving a streak of blood on the stone. A shrieking laugh echoed through the clearing and I looked up to see this âBalemâ clapping, rocking back and forth on his obelisk. I now saw there was a chain wrapped around his neck, with a padlock hanging open from one of the links.
âToo good! Too good, Dale!â Balemâs chattering his jaw, his teeth making a disturbing clattering sound. âThe drama has been made perfect with the audience!â Balemâs gaze landed right where we were and he pointed one of his long fingers towards us.
Dale slowly turned, the blood of his son dripping down his hands from where he bashed Maxâs head into the stone. Harmony shoved me down into the ground before she stepped out from behind the tree, muttering âstay stillâ as she walked into plain view of Balem and Dale.
âDad?â Harmony looked at Maxâs body before back to their father. âYou killed Max?â
Dale began to shake, the once imposing man turning into a shadow of his former self. He dropped to his knees, burying his face in his hands as he began to sob, sputtering out half apologies and weak explanations about this being the only choice.
âI couldnât lose you, Harmony Rose. Iâd sacrifice the world for you,â were the only words that were really clear, since the rest was slurred out by his sobbing and crying.
Harmony just shook her head before glancing up the obelisk. Silently she approached it, where Balem leaned down, actually managing to get down to her level. âArenât you going to thank me?â The monster said, cocking his head to the side, his ever grinning face looking downright smug.
Harmony took a deep breath. âAs long as the lockâs open,â She pointed to the padlock, âyou and⌠everything else can go wherever you want?â
Balem nodded. âAnd your blood cancer will continue to fade. Once itâs gone, youâll live to a hundred and two, thanks to my interference,â He said.
For several long seconds, Harmony just stood there, still as a statue. Then she reached up and clicked the padlock shut.
Nothing monumental happened- Balem didnât start melting into goo, and I didnât hear the screams of several monsters being forced back into their forest prison. Balem didnât even stop smiling, only reaching up to pat Harmony gently on the head. âYou still stand a chance to beat it, since I healed it enough to where treatment might actually make a difference. Youâre welcome, and youâre such a good girl, so I hope to see you again. I havenât made a bargain with your family for years. It was great fun. Now go home, girl, and take your half brother with you. I think youâll both want to miss the final act of this drama.â
Nodding, Harmony backed away from Balem before turning around and sprinting back to the treeline, yanking me back up to my feet. We bolted down the path, together. I took a single look back to see Dale, still on his knees, while swarms of long legged pure black creatures began to swarm him.
Itâs been a month. Maxâs body was found, but there was no mention of an obelisk, and Dale was just gone. Harmonyâs recovery is starting to slide, but where it is now, it is far more likely sheâll beat it. Sheâs been quiet, running her fingers through the still silvery curls on her head. She hasnât said it, but we both hope if her hair falls out this time, itâll grow back the way it used to be. Momâs been a wreck, losing Dale, Max, Lisa and Jayce has really fucked her up. But weâll make it through this.
I found something though. Last night, after both Harmony and my mom went to bed, I heard someone knock at the door and opened it to find a small leather pouch on the porch. I dumped the contents into my hand and I felt sick.
Itâs a key. A key made of the same material the obelisk was, just the right size for the padlock attached to the chain on Balemâs neck.
I really enjoyed this spooky read!

You werenât a fan of your bedsheets.Â
The bed itself was fine: Large and expansive, way more luxurious than anything you ever laid on back home. The sheets and the pillows, however, disappointed you. They were this stark, bright white. No pattern, no lines or stripes. It was the color of an endless void.Â
It blended into the rest of the room. Everywhere you looked there was this colorless gleam. No spots of red. No splashes of blue. No hints of purple or green or yellow. The space was unused to personality and color. The room felt cold and clinical.Â
Only the windows contained life.Â
The sun barely touched the horizon, its permanent spot. Rays filtered out the colors of red, magenta, and blue. The wispy clouds streaked against a bright sky. It was hypnotizing. The more you stared, the more entranced you got.Â
Today marked the sixth day of staying at the android kingdom. In total, youâd been in this strange new world for thirteen days. Your journey home had been stagnant.Â
Despite your disappointments, the android kingdom was amazing.Â
It was the ultimate utopia. In a typical human city, youâd see trash and litter scattered throughout muddy roads. Here, the roads are clean and sparse of any dirt. On the castle grounds, there are plenty of plants and shrubs, each growing a different type of fruit and vegetable you could just pick off and eat.Â
Androids: 1 Humanity: 0
The androids themselves were a bit odd, but you know they mean well. You still havenât gotten used to all the staring, even if you know the reasoning. None of the androids had ever seen a human. You should give them some slack.Â
Strangely enough, the android king seemed to be the most human out of them all.Â
Neir, as he wanted to be called, kept his distance from you, physically. He wasnât as âphysically curiousâ as the other androids were, touching your face, your skin, your hair. He never reached out to grope or pet, never asked weird or prodding questions about human anatomy.Â
He was respectful, something you really appreciated after coming here.Â
Still, it hasnât escaped your notice that he avoided your questions about the moon, the humans, or Accord. It was getting a little frustrating how evasive he can be. Perhaps heâs just as in the dark as you are about it?Â
A polite knock roused you from your thoughts. You already knew who it was. Those two had a habit of being punctual.Â
When you opened the door, the two were already displaying that strange salute they liked to greet you with.Â
âGlory to mankind,â both androids said.Â
âThanks,â you told them. âYou guys know you donât have to do that every time, right?âÂ
34DE brushed her way into your room with 34PO close behind.Â
âHow else will we be able to convey our gratitude, then?â 34PO responded with a cheery smile.Â
âGratitude for meâŚexisting?â You wondered to yourself before deciding not to die on this hill. Itâs not like theyâd stop.Â
Theyâre sisters. At least, you thought they looked like sisters. Both girls had the same shade of vibrant magenta hair, though the two styled it differently. 34DE curled her hair, while 34PO kept it pin straight. They shared that signature white flower, one thatâs tucked behind their ears.Â
Theyâre your maids, something you admit with much reluctance. However, it seemed like they considered themselves your nannies. The first day you met them, both girls tried to strip you for a bath, which you vehemently rejected. They act like theyâre your arms and legs, constantly wanting to do things for you, which you could easily do yourself. To this day, they still try to hand-feed you.Â
They meant well, and itâs partially why you couldnât reject them too harshly. 34DE got this sad look on her face whenever you told her that no, you donât need her to dress you. 34POâs voice got heartbreakingly soft when you once again insisted that you can brush your teeth yourself. To appease them, you allowed them to do the little things: taking care of your hair or preparing your bath.Â
Apparently, taking care of humans is written within their code. Once they told you that was all they were designed for. Itâs instinct for them to wait on your hand and foot. Because of that, you tried not to be too freaked out by their intense behavior. Other than that, theyâre actually pretty sweet.Â
âAll done!â 34PO called from the bathroom.Â
You peeked in. The bath was already set and running. White foam floated on the water's surface. The smell of shea butter and soap was fresh and crisp in the air. They even set out oils and lotions. It was a bath fit for a Queen.Â
You stepped forward. The two girls waited side-by-side expectantly. No matter how many times you rejected them, they still hoped youâd change your mind just this one time. It was a little endearing, honestly.Â
âBye, ladies.â You smiled.Â
Their faces drooped, and you felt like you had just kicked two puppies. As a âcompromiseâ, they were allowed to stay in the bedroom to wait for you. However, you made sure to lock the bathroom after they left.Â
As always, the bath was warm and luxurious. You couldnât tell whether it's water or liquid gold. Rose petals swirled around your body as you enjoyed the soak. Youâd stay there forever, if you could. Despite how strange the androids were, you loved the android city. Youâd never felt more pampered. They treated humanity right. You could get used to this.Â
Eventually, you got out of your bath and dressed in the clothes they gave you. Each piece of clothing was soft and silky. You dressed in something light and pastel, feeling the soft weight touch and cover your skin.Â
The two girls were delighted when you made your entrance. Thereâs not much left to do, but 34PO made herself busy with your hair. 34DE worked on your clothes, adjusting your sleeves and collar so they fell into the right place.Â
Usually, theyâd come along with breakfast. For a couple of robots, they cooked pretty decent chum. Last time, they brought pancakes that were topped with rich butter and thick maple syrup. Youâd never felt more full in your life.Â
You peeked over. No dishes.Â
34PO caught your gaze.Â
âThe King wishes to eat with you today!â She chirped. âHe has prepared a very special meal for you. I hope you like it!âÂ
You wordlessly nodded. This was a first. So far, youâd only had brief interactions with the Android King. It made sense; he was a busy guy. To think that man would have enough time to sit down for a meal was surprising.Â
Then again, he wouldnât be eating, would he? He would just watch you eat. That would beâŚwierd, but youâd unfortunately gotten used to it. 34PO and 34DE were always glued onto every bite, not ever daring to glance away.Â
You kept reminding yourself that it was just how things were in this world. Theyâd never seen a human before. Everything you did was fascinating to them.Â
Finally, both androids decided that you were ready for the outside world. They led you to the door, not even letting you open it yourself.Â
You werenât surprised by the sight in front of you.Â
Theyâd already taken their respective formation, saluting with perfect angles and arches.Â
âGlory to Mankind.â The three said in unison.Â
You held your tongue. At this point, you learned to pick your battles.Â
âLadies.â You greeted the three.Â
73H perked up first. Secretly, you consider her your favorite. You adored her perky personality. Itâs like a pop of color among the sea of white. Sheâs just as human-obsessed as the other androids, if not more. Sheâs funny, though, so you let it slide.Â
âHow are you doing today?â 73H excitedly asked. âDid you sleep well?âÂ
You nodded. âI did. Did you?âÂ
She nodded so aggressively you thought her head might fall off. âI had a dream about you!â She declared.Â
âOh?â You tilted your head, prompting her.Â
18D shoved her back before she could continue.Â
âEnough.â She sternly reprimanded 73H, who instantly wilted. âThe King is waiting.âÂ
You gave a sympathetic smile to 73H. âMaybe you can tell me later.âÂ
5G stepped right behind you. She leaned into your ear.Â
âTrust me. You really donât want to.âÂ
Before you could respond, she was falling right back into place with the other two. You had no choice but to follow. After giving 34PO and 34DE your goodbyes, you headed off.Â
73H also waved them off. She turned to you with a pout.Â
âIâm jealous of those two.â She sighed. âI heard they got to feed and bathe you. It would be such an honor to serve humanity in that way.â
âThey donât bathe me, actually.â You corrected her. âOr feed me, either.âÂ
18D instantly blanched. Youâd never seen someone look so appalled in your life.Â
âThey force you to do such things yourself?â She questions, a scowl forming on her face. âWe should talk to the King, how dare theyââÂ
âI wanted to bathe myself!â You quickly cut in. âAnd dress myself, and feed myself, and brush my own teeth. I insisted on it, I promise.â You practically had to fight for the right to be semi-independent, honestly.Â
18D simmered in her spot, but she didnât look very pleased.Â
 âHm, oh well then.âÂ
She didnât look too pleased, but she didnât push any further. You were happy with that.Â
Ever since the three soldiers brought you into the city, the King elected them as your personal bodyguards. They accompanied you everywhere: through the halls, out in the garden. You werenât sure why they were even necessary. The castle looked impenetrable, and you werenât going anywhere dangerous.Â
You still werenât allowed outside of the castle grounds.Â
Not that youâre complaining. Since your arrival, there had been a hoard of androids right at the gates, clamoring at the walls and cheering wildly every time you showed your face at the window. You felt like a celebrity. There was no way youâd be able to go outside and not get mobbed. Still, itâs a little disappointing. You wanted to explore the city and get to know how androids had been managing themselves without their creators. You might not get that opportunity anytime soon.Â
From the back, the three soldiers really looked like sisters.Â
They all wore matching outfits of black. Youâre not too sure how exactly they fight in high heels but theyâre far more agile than you, so you keep your mouth shut. They all had the same shade of white hair, but they each styled it differently, showing off their distinct personalities.Â
73H bound up her hair in pigtails that reached her shoulders, reflecting her cheery, bubbly personality. 18D had a short bob with diagonally-slanted bangs, chic and refined, just like she was. 5G had wavy white hair that hung to her chest, paralleling her playfulness. They had a weird mix between diversity and uniformity.Â
You donât notice they stopped until you nearly ran into 5G. 18D surveyed you.Â
âYour steps got slower.â She noted. âAre you unwell?âÂ
You blinked. âWhat?âÂ
âAre you sick?â 73H asked, worry clear in her face and voice.Â
5G was more than happy to step forward. âDo you want me to carry you?â She eagerly asked, hands already outstretched to grab you.Â
You immediately stepped back. âNo, Iâm fine!â You quickly said. âSeriously, I was just lost in thought.âÂ
73H ignored you. She crossed her arms, glaring at 5G.Â
âWhy are you always volunteering to carry the human?â She demanded. âI havenât forgotten how roughly you handled her last time. If she needs to be carried, Iâll do it.âÂ
5G rolled her eyes. âWith those scrawny arms? Sure, be my guest. But donât tell me I didnât tell you so when you inevitably drop her.âÂ
73H made a strangled noise in the back of her throat, as though the mere thought of dropping you was horrific to her.Â
âWill you two ever mature?â 18D hissed back. âEvery time I turn my back you two are bickering over one thing or another. Besides, itâs best if I carry the human, as IâmââÂ
âIâm fine!âÂ
You hadnât meant to yell so loudly, but there was no way they would have heard you otherwise. They paused their argument to glance back at you. You gave a stiff smile.Â
âWe should go.â You urged, eager to diffuse the tension. âShouldnât keep the King waiting, right?âÂ
They frowned, but they didn't press. They resumed their journey of escorting you down the hall. Compared to 34DE and 34PO, these three were a lot harder to subdue.Â
Still, the obsession these androids had over you was starting to get a little concerning. You tried your best to understand where it came from. They hadnât seen a human in centuries, of course people will freak out. And itâs not like you hated the princess treatment. Itâs nice to be pampered.Â
But they didnât treat you like royalty, they treated you like aâ
Theyâve stopped again. You peeked out from behind them. Itâs a door, so white that it nearly blends into the rest of the wall. 5G pushed it open. She wordlessly motioned for you to go through. You obeyed, hearing the soldiers closely following.Â
The room was on the smaller side. Thereâs a desk and a table.Â
Neir sat on a velvet chair, one leg crossed over another.Â
He greeted you with a smile.Â
âYou made it.â He said.
Thereâs no salute. No âGlory to Mankindâ. It eased you.Â
He gave a nod at the other soldiers. They fell into a bow behind you. The soldiers took their respective steps behind you, backs against the wall.Â
âGood morning.â You said shyly, unsure if you needed to follow their lead. You were always confused as to how you needed to greet the Android King. He kept maintaining himself beneath you, but he was still a King.Â
âI heard we were supposed to eat together.â You decided to say. Get to the point. Short and sweet.Â
He grinned, showing off his pearly whites. âYes.â He told you. âI also have a special surprise prepared for you.âÂ
âOh?â You cocked your head.Â
âToday, Iâll be introducing you to the Kingdom.â He stood up, walking over to you. You had to crane your neck up to simply look at him.Â
âThe Kingdom?â You repeated, anxiety boiling in your stomach. âThe other androids? You want me to meet them? Thisâthis is so sudden.âÂ
You remember the crowd bustling and clamoring for just a glimpse of you. You were flattered at their enthusiasm, but getting close to that mob sounded dangerous.Â
A hand settled on your shoulder. You glanced up at Neir.Â
âItâs nothing more than a brief introduction.â Neir assured. âMy people have fought a war forâŚcenturies.â His mouth curved downwards, something simmered in his eyes. It was gone before you could truly place it.Â
âIt would be nice if they could see the culmination of what they fought for: talking, eating, and living.â He smiled down at you.Â
You glanced down at your shoes. Itâs not like you were in any position to refuse. The King and the others had already done so much for you. He promised heâd bring you home. Shouldnât you at least play along too?Â
âOkay.â You agreed. âYeah-okay.âÂ
His hand drifted until it reached the small of your back. You were hyper-aware of his touch, feeling the warmth of his fingers seep through the cloth. He lightly guided you, with your three bodyguards following.Â
The darkened oak doors sat tall and heavy, nearly twice the height of you. No human could open those behemoths.
73H and 5G opened each one with relative ease. The doors creaked under their grips as the gap grew wider and wider.Â
18D glanced back at you with a smile.Â
âPlease enter.â
It looked bigger than the throne room.Â
The ceiling stretched on for what looked like miles. Pretty chandeliers and lights were strung all throughout the room. There were large windows and bent into a delicate arch, each filled with tinted glass: blues and greens and reds. You felt like you were walking into a cathedral.Â
It didnât feel like a cathedral, however; it felt more like a banquet hall. Neir lightly urged you to walk through, to which you obeyed. The door led you into a raised balcony, where you could already see a table with seats. From your view, you could see the entire floor.Â
So many eyes.Â
There were hundreds of them. Androids of all shapes and sizes stood absolutely still, watching as you quietly walked towards the table and took your seat. Neir was more than happy to push you in, completely confining you into the table. Despite the amount of people within the hall, it was near-silent. Enough to hear a pin drop.Â
No murmurs, or chatters, or whispers.Â
You felt goosebumps prick and rise at your skin.Â
âDonât mind them.â Neir urged. âYou must be hungry, yes? Please eat.âÂ
A low whirring noise. You glanced up, watching as something metallic and clunky floated towards you. Within its robotic arms, it held a plate of something hot and delicious. A pod, you remembered one of the other androids calling it that. You watched as the pod placed the plate down and disappeared.Â
Neir had already taken a seat right beside you. There was a plate in front of him as well. You briefly wondered why. After all, itâs not like androids could really eat.Â
As always, the food looked heavenly. Perfectly cooked and displayed out like a five star meal. Itâs one of your favorite dishes. You remembered mentioning it offhandedly, unaware theyâd manage to remake it so perfectly. Just the smell alone made your mouth nearly water.
ButâŚyou couldnât bring yourself to eat.Â
You glanced down again. The mass of androids quietly stared back.Â
Youâre sure they didnât mean to make you uncomfortable. Every android youâve met has been incredibly kind and giving.Â
But their stares wereâŚstrangely intrusive. They peered into your skin, right through your cells and veins. Right into bone.Â
You forced yourself to look down at the food. Eat. Just eat.Â
You took a shiny silver fork, dipping it into the food. You slowly brought it up to your mouth.Â
You chewed.Â
You swallowed.Â
Somebody screamed.
It was so loud, you thought your eardrums would rupture. Somebody cried, almost gasping for air. The crowd turned into a wild frenzy, full of shouts and screams.Â
No, they werenât screaming.Â
They were cheering.Â
Below, each android you saw wore a large smile, wide enough you were sure it hurt.Â
âAgain, Iâm so sorry for their behavior.â You could barely hear Neirâs voice over the excitement. âTheyâre just so happy. Please, continue. Donât mind them.âÂ
Easier said than done. You forced down another forkful. Then another. The cheering grew louder and louder, as did the lump forming in your stomach.Â
The worst part was the echoes. The screaming bounced up and down the walls, making them louder than they actually were.Â
You hadnât eaten since last night, but you pushed your plate away after four bites.Â
âIâm full.â You tried to smile, but you knew it wasn't sincere. âThank you. IsâŚis it okay if IâŚ?â Run, flee, away from whatever this is.Â
Neir watched you. His expression was dimmed. You couldnât read his face.Â
âOf course.â He finally relented and you could taste the relief on your lips. âPlease, this way.âÂ
You didnât run. You forced yourself not to run as Neir stood up, gently nudging you along with a soft hand on the small of your back once more. He walked back through the wide mahogany doors, back into sanctuary.Â
Just for a moment, you glanced back down. One android in particular caught your eye.Â
She knelt on the floor, clasping both hands together. Her eyes were shut tight.Â
âŚ.like she was praying.Â
~
Even after you left the banquet hall, his hand hadnât once left your back.Â
He touched you a lot more than you initially thought. It wasn't until now, that you remembered the trickling fingers past your arm, the light grazing on the back of your neck. Fingers that itched to feel and touch.Â
Something cold washed over you. It didnât feel like dread. Not yet.Â
You pulled away first. You tried to feign a shiver, like you were cold despite the castle always being the perfect temperature for you.Â
âSorry about that.â You said, if only to fill the silence. âIâve neverâŚthat was soâŚâÂ
Terrifying. You swallowed that word down, forcing yourself to digest it. Excitement. They were excited to see you. Crazed. Wide eyes. Even wider smiles.Â
Obsession. Itâs the only word you could describe it as. So far, the outside android public had only seen a glimpse of you. What if you wandered into town? What if touching wasnât enough?
Theyâd rip you apart, wanting to take even a piece of you home. You were sure of it.Â
You felt horrible for even thinking that way. Guilt seeped into your veins, but it was impossible to shrug off.Â
âNo apology needed.â Neir told you, voice muted. When you braved to glance up at him, you found he was already staring right back.Â
âIâm grateful you agreed to it,â he confessed. âYou have no idea how happy you made the citizens. Thank you.âÂ
You smiled, but it felt fake, even to you. If Neir noticed, he didnât acknowledge it. He silently guided you on and on until you were back in his grand study room.Â
It was just as bland and lifeless as the rest of the ice castle. White chairs and white desks and white floors and white walls. Earlier, you marveled at how clean everything was.Â
Now, you felt as though youâd go crazy if you couldnât look outsideâwhere all the real color was. The color of the valiant sky, not even the androids could turn that into a husk of white.Â
Neir gestured you to sit on one of the lavish chairs. You followed, feeling the rich cushion curve and bend under your weight. He took a seat behind the desk. A hand was elegantly placed on his chin. Eyes bored into your own.Â
He always did that, you distantly realized, he made you feel like an artwork on display.Â
Or an endangered animal at a zoo.Â
Youâre brushing away those thoughts. Itâs not like you didnât come here with your own agenda.Â
âHave humans contacted you yet?â You asked. They should have by now, right? Youâre not sure how things worked on the Moon, but a human on Earth, when there hasnât been one for centuries, should be front page news.Â
Neir shrugs. âEarth isnât that high on their priority list.â He admitted, but thereâs no bitterness in his tone. âThey have far more important things to worry about. Iâll be sure to let you know if they do decide to contact us.âÂ
Your lips twitched into a frown. Not high on their priority list? Youâd think a surviving human on Earth would be a hard thing to ignore. You shook it off and changed the subject.Â
âThen, has anything about Accord come up?â You prodded. âThe android thatâs supposed to bring me back. Did anythingââÂ
âWhy are you so eager to leave?âÂ
Neirâs question stunned you into silence. Neither his face, nor did his posture change.Â
His eyes were shadowed.Â
âHave we not treated you well?â He asked. âHave we not cared and tended to your needs?âÂ
Your mouth opened and closed. Heâs not wrong. Your dimension was pretty fucked: corrupt politicians who only cared about their own pockets, rapid new threats that will end the world, so many issues that humanity created themselves.Â
On paper, the city was paradise. Everything was so clear and pristine. You were waited on hand and foot. You barely had to lift a finger before someone was running to accommodate you. You were pampered and cared for like royalty.Â
On paper, the city was a paradise.Â
âItâs not that Iâm not grateful.â You gently corrected, speaking slowly, carefully choosing your words. âReally! IâmâIâm really glad you all were so kind to me. I canât thank you enough.âÂ
âIâm so happy you feel that way.â He leaned forward. âThat means youâll stay, wonât you? Regardless of if that woman comes.âÂ
You blinked at him. Neir remained smiling.Â
Why did it take you so long to realize how cold his eyes were? Not the color of warm oceans, rather itâs an icy arctic. Dead. Lifeless as this entire castle.Â
âIâI canât do that.â You finally said. You could feel your smile melt from your face, but you forced yourself to keep it. âIâŚI mean thatâs my home.âÂ
âCanât this be your home too?â Neir suggested. âYou have a delightful castle, delicious food, androids whose sole purpose is to cater to your every whim. What more can you possibly want?âÂ
Friends. Family. Humanity.Â
âRightâŚâ You said instead. The room suddenly became claustrophobic. It was getting harder and harder to breathe.Â
âIâm sorry.â You stood up. Neir followed. Heâs so much taller than you. Most of the androids were.Â
You wondered if thatâs the point. If they were built this way to intimidate rather than comfort.Â
âIâI think Iâm getting a little tired.â You lightly said. âWould you mind if I headed back to my room?âÂ
âOf course.â Neirâs expression immediately softened. Itâs no longer comfortable. âPlease, allow me.âÂ
He didnât let you go off alone, regardless if you knew the way or not. Him and the other bodyguards lingered close behind you the entire way back. You felt their gazes on your skin, devouring everything they could see.Â
It stopped when you closed the door to your room. No more eyes. The room was bigger.Â
You could finally breathe again.Â
Through the window, the sky remained the same as always. A collision of reds and oranges. The sun kept teasing to drop below the horizon, and let the moon start its reign.Â
That never happened. Not in this world.Â
How was Pascal doing? Was he looking up the same sky you were? Was he also regretting letting you go?Â
The sky was the only splotch of color you could see, stark from the bleach-white castle. You wanted to reach up, touch the wispy cotton-candy clouds. You wanted to burn in the sun.Â
A flock of birds soared above you. They were barely specks in the horizon, flying up and up into the clouds. They disappeared from the castleâs view.Â
Something rotted in your stomach.Â
Envy.Â

Ooog this is so goood-
So creepy and satisfying to read, can't wait to read the next part!
if theres one thing that really pissed me off from my 3 years of architecture i took in high school it's learning about how we used to have all these little techniques to maximize or minimize heat or warmth and now we just merrily abandoned all those to have the same copypaste style buildings everywhere that are often INCREDIBLY unoptimized to the local weather and climate so we can just throw more money at our heating and cooling bills
where i live it is hot as balls approximately 80% of the year. i do not want a massive butt-ugly grey mcmansion with a huge echoey open-concept kitchen-livingroom-foyer-diningroom-staircase that has huge windows so i can have an hvac unit the size of a barge heaving and straining to keep it at a constant 72 the grees. i want a north indian traditional style home with small windows to force the airflow to cool, decorative grates to limit the amount of sunlight, and a COURTYARD with a POND *smashes unspecified large object*
I hate learning about instances of "oh yeah we know how to do that, we just don't".

Discord is supposedly saying this is going to affect "only 10% of users", but I really don't believe them at all. It's always going to be way worse and affect more people than what they claim.

Hello! Here is an absolute mess of a post that I hope you still find useful!
You should be able to right click and save the individual images. The pattern piece images have the 1âł and 1cm marks so you can double check that they print at the correct size. Do not choose âfit to pageâ when printing the pattern pages. I think it should fit on A4 as well as letter-size paper!
The instructions are separated into âunlinedâ and âlinedâ sections, with each section being complete, so some things are repeated, which means you donât have to search through the âunlinedâ section when sewing the âlinedâ version.
This was only barely editedâif anything is too terrible, please let me know!
(and I went with âno mention of the pattern itâs based on, but also no âDollsAhoyâ anywhere, either)
Edit: I noticed a slightly imprecise choice of words on page two and have changed that and re-uploaded the corrected page here. The change is from âFold Âźâ/6mm of the lower lining edge to the inside.â to âFold Âźâ/6mm of the lower lining edge to the wrong side.â in the lining instructions next to fig. 3, if you happen to have already printed it ^_^
looks cool, thank you!

âAre you staring at my tits?âÂ
You werenât. Seriously. But when she was dramatically huffing and bouncing like that, your stare did flicker down for a fraction of a second and that was enough to secure a haughty scoff from your tormenter.Â
âGod, do you ever stop checking me out?â Toru haughtily huffed at you, the edge of a freshly manicured nail scraping against your chin as she forced your head up. Careful not to let her fingers actually touch you, as if you had some disgusting disease she could touch if your skin brushed against yours. âMy eyes are up here.âÂ
Painfully blue. So intense they seemed to sear through you, shrink you down into something small enough for her to pick up and play with like a toy she enjoyed torturing.Â
Staring at you like you were something to devour.Â
From the very first day you started at this stupid all-girls school and had the misfortune of accidentally dropping one of your bags on her foot in the hallway while you moved into your dorm, she had decided you were the object of her animosity.Â
And despite how much time had passed, how many times you tried to clear the air and stay as fucking far as possible from her, she always seemed to find and remind you of just how much power she had here. Over you. Â
âIâm just trying to go back to my dorm,â you muttered, averting your stare as you stepped back, attempting to walk around her â and through the forming crowd of gossiping onlookers eager for some fresh rumor to sink their teeth into.Â
Toru would be happy to give it to them.Â
Tossing her soft, white hair over her shoulder, loose waves bouncing as she haughtily laughed and looked back at all the people surrounding the two of you. Any one of them ready and willing to support her when you were standing there practically as proof of what happened when you pissed her off.Â
âWhat? Sneak any shots up my skirt today to add to your perverted shrine?â She accused, your face flushing at the absurd insinuation.Â
Despite her frequent assertions otherwise, you were neither a lesbian nor hopelessly in love with her.Â
Her ego was just so huge, it was probably just inconceivable to her that someone could exist without wanting her.Â
But no matter how many times you swore you werenât secretly obsessed with her and that there was no fucking shrine hidden in your closet or under your bed, sheâd been saying the same shit long enough that no one believed you.Â
âCan you just leave me alone?â You frowned, forcing your way through the crowd to get past her as she called out some other teasing remark about you going to rub one out.Â
Loathing couldnât quite suffice for just how much you couldnât stand her.
Hate boiling and burning beneath your skin every time she hurled a new taunt your way, when sheâd find you eating lunch in a single bathroom stall just to make your meals hell too, mocking you with glossy lips and a glittering smile while the rest of your class treated her like an angel even when her antics annoyed them.Â
And when the girl that could do no wrong wished the worst for you, well, it seemed the worst was all you got.Â
The rest of the student body had started treating you like shit too. Sneering and scolding you for staring, everyone convinced you had to be some sort of predator just because she said you liked girls.Â
People didnât grin at you in the hallways.Â
Just glared.Â
Your room had been ransacked a few times, clothes tattered and wrecked with staff that didnât care to scold them. Your lunches knocked out of your hand. Stupid notes stuck to your back during class.Â
There wasnât a single person in this fucking place that wanted to be your friend.Â
But you guessed it didnât matter.Â
You didnât have that much longer left stuck here.Â
Graduation was coming up soon â and despite the hell boarding school had been, the scholarship youâd been granted to attend had set you up for a pretty nice looking future. One without Toru.Â
You locked the door to your room behind you, dropping your bag to the ground before collapsing onto your bed. Exhaling as your eyes shut, a migraine budding behind them from spending another day attempting to avoid her and failing miserably.Â
Rolling over to pluck your phone from your pocket, your mouth reflexively curled up into a smile at the name on the screen. The one bright light in the midst of this pit of misery filled with pretty girls who thought you were pining after them and tried to punish you for it.Â
All of them absolutely clueless that you were already taken.Â
By a man they would definitely be desperate to call theirs too.Â
Youâd been seeing Satoshi for two years.Â
Sorta.Â
You hadnât officially met him yet. Not when you started talking through a dating app. Back then, youâd been craving any company so much you had caved and downloaded a bunch. And you had lucked out to land an equally lonely person.Â
Your relationship had been fairly casual at first, late night conversations where you stayed up until your eyes were sore and you nearly fell asleep sitting up in half your classes. Things had picked up this past year, the photos that used to be half your face or whatever you were doing escalating to moreâŚintimate images. His questions turned more personal too, picking apart your brain until he knew probably more about you than anyone youâd ever met before.Â
Sure, it wasnât conventional. But he had sent plenty of his own questionable pictures and voice messages to quell any of your suspicions. He never asked for money either, instead showering you with attention and sending you expensive gifts (although everyone on your floor was convinced you were spending what little money you had sending them to yourself). He was wearing a uniform from an all-boys boarding school not all that far away in a lot of them â but between sports and classes and busy schedules, neither of you had been able to arrange a proper meet up.Â
Until this weekend.Â
Finally, youâd be able to do something other than giggle and grin at the photos of his pretty washboard abs and replay his thick, groggy good morning messages.Â
He made reservations at a fancy hotel nearby, promising that heâd be waiting for you there with the biggest bouquet he could buy and wearing his best outfit in blue, sending you sweet messages about how badly he was aching to be yours in person instead of just online.Â
Most people would think you made him up.Â
And honestly, at first, when you tried to dispel the rumors and whispers about you being a lesbian by protesting and bringing up that you literally had a boyfriend, but when he actually went to another school, no one would believe you.Â
Eventually, you gave up. Stopped seeing a point in swearing the truth when everyone else would always prefer the lie.Â
It gave them someone lower on the totem pole to push around.Â
Kept them safe from Toruâs reign of terror.Â
Why would they listen?Â
You told yourself that you were almost free. So fucking close to being out of her reach.Â
They could all worship at her feet and follow her around like the lost puppies they were. You werenât going to be a loser lingering in her shadow forever. Not when you still had your support in Satoshi.Â
A new notification buzzed on your phone, breath catching in your throat in anticipation as you clicked on it too fast, before you could even read it.Â
You shouldâve looked.Â
An unknown number and a nasty word stared back at you, your fingers automatically moving to block the number and delete it with a frown.Â
Immediately re-opening your messages with Satoshi as you sniffled a little, too exhausted to keep the swirling emotions inside you at bay as you sent a short message, biting your lip until you tasted the blood on your tongue.Â
Can you talk right now?
ÎľâżĐˇ
âPlease, please, please, please-âÂ
âGod, do you ever shut up?â Suguru groaned, rubbing his temple while Toru thrusted the phone in his face.Â
âBut I need your help,â she whined, pouting harder as he squinted at the messages.Â
âYou said youâd tell your girlfriend last month,â he annoyingly reminded her, brows knitting together in irritation as he reluctantly took the phone anyway, readjusting on his bed after she unceremoniously burst into his room after getting a ride all the way to their rival boarding school. âDonât particularly feel like doing this for two more years.âÂ
God, what good was a best friend if they wouldnât help in a time of need? Wasnât he supposed to be a wingman?
âIâm telling her this weekend,â Toru frowned back, folding her arms across her chest as she glanced around his dorm room. It was honestly cleaner than hers, in shades of gray and green instead of the soft blue she was used to. Books actually neatly stacked on his desk instead of scattered haphazardly on every surface. âI wanna make it romantic. Like, book a hotel room and everything.â Â
Buy you flowers, maybe an expensive set of lingerie, have them scatter rose petals over the bed and leave champagne on the table. Book a couples massage and take you out to a fancy dinner? Sure, sheâd probably have to apologize for being a bit of a bitch to you over the years, but once you saw how serious she was about being in a relationship with you, couldnât you just let bygones by bygones?Â
Suguru arched one of those thin eyebrows, giving her one of those irksome looks that implied he didnât think it was a good idea.Â
But he was a man.Â
What did they know?Â
âYou think sheâs going to take it well?â He tentatively asked, and she couldnât help scoff.Â
âShe likes Satoshi. Satoshi is me,â she simply said, gesturing with her hands as if it should be obvious. âBesides, shouldnât she be grateful for my attention? Anyone would be.â
Suguru laughed, like it was a joke.Â
But she just scowled back at him, completely serious as she tried to get what he didnât get about the whole thing.Â
Whoever got to be with her was the lucky one.Â
Toru was beyond beautiful. Wealthy. Wore the best clothes and went to all the best vacation spots every year. Who wouldnât want to be hers?Â
It was just common sense.Â
Sheâd been worshipped from the day she was born. It wasnât like she was expecting you to do the same. She just wanted you to see how fortunate you were to have her favor.Â
God, any girl would die to be in your shoes. Guys too, actually, beg for her attention and crawl on their knees for the tiniest slice of the attention she gave you.Â
Sure, maybe she wasnât always good at getting it across verbally, but she couldnât risk someone else sneaking in and stealing your attention! Besides, her mouth seemed to always speak for itself around you, never saying exactly what she intended to when all her brain could think of was the shape of your lips and how your uniform clung to your tits since sheâd bribed the office to keep sending you the size down.Â
She could admit that she could be a little aggressive, but she just wanted you to finally fucking admit that you wanted her too. Not just play hard to get and avoid her all the damn time.
âSheâs probably just going to complain about you,â Suguru warned her, jealousy flaring up in her chest as she ran her fingers through her hair.Â
What the hell did he know?Â
At least you were talking about her.Â
Toru would rather your thoughts revolve around her than to be nothing to you at all.Â
âShe was definitely checking out my tits today,â she defensively argued, even though Suguru was still making an annoying face at her. So what if he didnât believe her?Â
You had, hadnât you? This wasnât just totally in her head?Â
Maybe you didnât even realize youâd done it. Toru had been trying her hardest to get you to see that you were obviously a lesbian like her, that the two of you were clearly compatible.
âUh-huh,â he mumbled, and she wanted to yank the pillow out from underneath his head and smother him with it.Â
âAre you going to call her or not?â She pouted, returning to the point as he slowly scrolled through the messages.
She imagined you back in your own bed, maybe biting your pretty lips until they were swollen, breaking the skin as you waited for a response. Would you let Toru lick the blood off if you knew it was her on the other end?Â
âFor fifty bucks,â he exhaled, and she once again contemplated suffocating him.Â
But she was still shrugging down her purse, digging through its messy contents to pull out a hundred and toss it at him.Â
âYouâre such a dick,â she derisively huffed, even though she had started this whole arrangement by promising to pay him a couple years ago. Begging him to let her use his photos to catfish you, and despite his initial moral protests that it was wrong, blah blah blah, he eventually caved in.Â
It wasnât ever supposed to last this long.Â
She meant to tell you months ago. But there were always pesky little flies buzzing around every time she tried to talk to you at school, and she couldnât get the correct words to leave her lips when everyone was always watching the two of you together.Â
God, even when she tried to talk to you in the bathroom when you ate your lunch in there alone, people still fucking followed her.Â
âYou better pull your pants down a little and snap a pic if Iâm paying you,â she hissed at her only actual friend, just for Suguru to roll his eyes at her again from his lazy position on the bed.Â
God, did she have to do everything herself?
She climbed on top, grabbing his slacks by the hips and wiggling it down as low as she could without revealing his disgusting dick. She didn't really understand what you could possibly find appealing about the obviously inferior gender, but maybe it was just because you didn't know better yet. Hadn't seen what her pretty tits looked like without her uniform covering them or properly experienced a womanâs touch.Â
âAre you serious-âÂ
Toru ignored Suguru, tugging his shirt up too and snagging the phone back, carefully angling it to snap a photo that captured his dark happy trail, the defined muscles and ridges of his abs and hitting send.Â
It was almost instantly marked as seen.Â
She stared at the screen, willing your response, wishing for something in return and grinning wildly when you sent an image back.Â
Your uniform removed to reveal your gorgeous tits pressed together in a pretty white bra. Had you picked it out for her? Or well, Satoshi? Your face wasnât in it, but she could imagine what expression you were making. How your lashes might flutter, how your bottom lip might push out.Â
Were you touching yourself?Â
âDo you still want me to call her or do you wanna go rub one out?â Suguru sarcastically asked, his voice thick with sleep from the nap she ârudelyâ interrupted.Â
âAsk her to send a video of her doing that,â she demanded, holding the phone back out while he let out a low exhale, shutting his eyes like he hadnât meant to sign up for that.
âDo I at least get to watch the video if she sends it?â He grumbled, and Toru glared back at him, folding her arms across her chest as she gritted her teeth.Â
âFine,â she begrudgingly accepted.Â
It was only natural, she supposed. She spent almost every day bragging to him about how gorgeous you were, rambling about all the cute faces you made and funny things youâd said. Of course, heâd want to experience the little pieces of you Toru was generous enough to share.Â
He took the phone, hitting the call button as Toru gestured for him to put in on speaker while it rang. He did, and you only took a second to answer.Â
âHi,â your soft voice breathed on the other end, and a jolt of excitement shot through Toru.Â
You sounded so adorable. She just wanted to take a bite. Sink her teeth into you so deep youâd be stuck with the bite marks for the rest of your life.Â
âHey, pretty girl,â Suguru greeted, keeping a straight face while Toru suppressed actually giggling at the light sound of your pretty laughter through the phone.Â
âWhat are you doing?â You asked, all sweet and sincere.Â
âJust thinkinâ about you,â Suguru smoothly replied. Toru couldnât help rolling her eyes at him, having a hard time believing any girl could actually be stupid enough to-
âReally?âÂ
Nevermind.Â
This was exactly why you needed Toru. Sure, Suguru was her best friend, but moronic men like him would never be able to take care of you like she could!Â
âI liked that photo you sent me,â he murmured into the phone, pitching his voice down while Toruâs nails bit into her palm, imprinting half-circles into them as she heard your breathing hitch on the other end.Â
âY-yeah?â You stuttered a little bit, as precious as always. A little awkward, too, but that was part of what made you so addicting. What made Toru so desperate to be the one you were stammering and stumbling over your words for. âI liked yours.âÂ
âYou wanna show me just how much?â Suguru spoke slowly, leaving the implication up in the air for you to jump to your own conclusion.Â
To decide just how badly you wanted to please Satoshi.Â
âYou want another photo?â You asked after a moment, temptation teetering there. Toru was dying to touch you. Be there in your bed as she heard your sheets rustling underneath your body through the grainy line. Replaying all the pretty expressions youâd worn in the hall earlier, imagining how different the one you had on now was.Â
âI want more, angel,â Suguru replied, immediately reminding Toru that you still didnât know you were hers yet, still enveloped in this boy version of her that she and Suguru fabricated. âAre you touching yourself for me?âÂ
âMaybe,â you shyly said, close enough to a confession.Â
âThink you could record it for me, sweetheart?â He hummed, careful not to sound demanding, just issuing a little dare she knew you would take out of fear of disappointing him.
âIf you really want me to,â you hesitantly replied, all light and airy. Barely needing to be nudged to agree to send a video of your breathy moans, one where your fingers would slip underneath your matching panties as you cried out after someone that never really existed.Â
âGood girl.âÂ
You didnât even ask him not to show anyone else.Â
Just blindly trusted him.Â
Would you still feel the same when you knew it was really her? Follow her lead and stay on her leash?Â
Sometimes, you sorta reminded Toru of a lost little lamb. One she had to shepherd back into place. It wasnât like she was trying to put the crook around your neck, to pull you close, but sheâd do what she had to just to have you.Â
ÎľâżĐˇ
Be there in five. Canât wait for you to finally be mine. Â
âCan I help you, miss?â A hotel employee startled you, blinking hard a few times in surprise as you swallowed hard and shook your head.
âIâm, um, just waiting on someone,â you answered with a tight smile, grateful when they seemed to accept that answer, nodding politely and walking away as you rested against the wall rather than taking a seat on one of the stiff couches clustered together by coffee tables nearby.Â
You were too anxious to sit.Â
Nerves racing under your skin as you continuously checked the time, smoothing out the skirt you picked out and glancing down at the revealing shirt youâd chosen after he made a comment about how much he was looking forward to burying his face against your breasts.Â
But as minute five came and passed, you still hadnât spotted a single sign of him.Â
You felt like an idiot, chewing on the inside of your cheek as you kept scanning the lobby for a glimpse of blue like he promised. Pulling up your phone to read and reread his latest message for comfort.Â
Fingers tapping the keyboard, typing out a message to ask if he was close only to delete it and try to reword it, wasting another few minutes struggling to come up with something not totally desperate to say only to come up empty.Â
A familiar giggle made your blood run cold.Â
In a single instant, your mood was spoiled, rotten, head snapping in trepidation as you saw the blue you were searching for at the receptionistâs desk. Just on the wrong person.Â
A tight blue dress clinging to the hips of your least favorite person, pushing her boobs up and riding high on her thighs as she turned towards you, eyes locking onto yours like she already knew youâd be here.Â
The receptionist passed her two keycards, and she had to readjust the huge bouquet of flowers in her hand to grab it before she started walking towards you, her tall heels clicking against the tiled lobby.Â
âDonât you look adorable?â She smiled at you. Smiled. You were pretty sure your brain short-circuited. Overwhelmed by the fact a compliment had left her lips with not a hint of cruelty. Perhaps a sliver of condescension, but unless your stare was suddenly deceiving you (and you so badly wished it was) she actually appeared genuine.Â
âW-what are you-â You started stammering, heat rushing up to your face as she stepped even closer, looking down at you with amusement glittering in her pretty eyes as she pushed the flowers into your arms.
âI'm Satoshi, silly,â she hummed, her mouth curling up in a smirk that just screamed she was proud of her scheme.Â
âNo, no,â you bluntly said, struggling to breathe when her words threatened to unravel years of a relationship youâd been clinging to, counting on to keep your sanity intact. âHe called me. Sent me voice messages, photos-âÂ
âI had to get my friend Suguru to help,â she admitted, fake sympathy in her practiced smile as she reached out and touched your cheek. Caressed it with her soft fingers while you stood there in too much shock to recoil. âBut all the conversations were me, sweetheart.âÂ
Sweetheart.Â
The word had never made you feel so fucking sick before.Â
Satoshi had called you that all the time. But he was apparently her, and the realization that all your raw vulnerabilities, all the times you poured your heart and soul out just for Toru to be on the receiving end. All those reassurances youâd hung onto, the pretty words you copied down into diaries and woven into your brain, they all belonged to her.Â
Betrayal burning through you as you tried to process the depth of their deception. How many layers to it were there? How much time had she spent just to keep up this charade? Pretending to be a fucking man to what? Â
Humiliate you even more than she did on a daily basis?Â
âAm I just a sick joke to you?â You asked, voice thick with hurt you couldn't hide anymore. She tormented you for years. What the hell else were you supposed to think?Â
âYou're my girlfriend?â She retorted, tilting her head to the side as if she couldn't understand what you were confused about.Â
âYou hate me,â you pointed out, mentally replaying every mean word out of her mouth from the day you met. All the times she accused you of wanting to have sex with her and basically being a lovesick loser.Â
âI like you,â she corrected you, and you got the distinct impression this wasn't exactly the reaction she'd been expecting from you.Â
And in the next thick pause, the silence where you stared at her with an open mouth, you realized that perhaps she'd been projecting.Â
That maybe the obsessed one had been her all along.Â
You stepped back, shaking your head as you heard yourself scoff.Â
âDo you just want me to say sorry?â Toru asked, her glittery lip gloss catching the light as she dramatically pouted. âI am, you know, I just get so excited when I see you, itâs hard to hold it in.âÂ
You blinked.Â
Her eyes shifted down to your chest, openly ogling you as pink bloomed against her pretty cheeks, her fingers slipping back into your hair like you were a couple.Â
As if, in any universe, this could be considered normal.Â
You wanted to scream.Â
To storm off and slam the glass door behind you.Â
Go back to your room and cry into the pillow after you scrubbed every stupid photo and video you ever saved of Satoshi from your phone.Â
This wasnât supposed to happen. You were supposed to graduate and get as far from Toru as possible, find a place with your boyfriend and start a new life where you could forget about the past few years youâd spent here.Â
âWhat did I do to ever deserve you doing this to me?â You breathed, a hot lump forming in your throat as you tried to hold back the sob that wanted to break out. Hyper aware of how hard you tried on your makeup this morning, how much time youâd spent picking out what to wear and how to style your hair, desperate to impress someone who apparently didnât even exist.Â
The tears were welling up anyway, heavy in your lashes and collecting in the corners of your eyes as you felt the stares of people passing by. The whispering youâd gotten used to whenever you were around Toru.Â
Her face scrunched up, her annoyingly pretty mouth parting as she moved her hand to drag her thumb underneath your eyes. Wiping away your tears while she tilted her head to the side, loose waves bouncing in time with her huff, âAre you seriously crying?âÂ
âYou catfished me,â you said, hating how crushed you sounded. But you were. In a handful of seconds, she had decimated any ounce of your confidence you had left. Reduced you to rubble under her stupid red-bottomed heels and then rubbed it into the glossy tiles you were standing on. âYouâve been calling me a lesbian for years, but you-âÂ
âThatâs because you are one,â she said, perfectly plucked brows knitting together tightly as she took a small step closer. Almost enough for both your chests to touch, her eyes drifting back down for what felt like the twentieth time at your shirt. âI mean, I am too, was it not obvious?âÂ
No, it absolutely wasnât fucking obvious, but the way she said it was enough to make you freeze.Â
Honestly, if anything, you thought she was a little homophobic before this, but you didnât know how sheâd take that.Â
âCome on, you can just admit that you were crushing on me, you donât have to keep-â You made some sound at her insane statement, pure disgust mixing with the scoff that escaped.Â
âI hate you,â you half-whispered. Loathing burning in those three short words as you tried to find the strength to move. But she didnât flinch. Just pursed her lips together as she batted her soft, white lashes at you.Â
âYou told Satoshi you loved him last night,â she so unhelpfully reminded you, speaking slowly as if she was giving you time to think between her words. âThat means you love me.âÂ
âI-âÂ
You couldnât even get out what you wanted to say when she started twirling a loose strand of your hair around one of her long fingers.Â
Was she actually trying to seduce you?Â
Her chest pressed against yours, not sparing so much as a glance to anyone else in the lobby despite how much attention she had to know she was drawing as you felt her tits through her thin dress rubbing against yours like you were playing the starring role in a cheap porno.Â
âThink about all those late nights we stayed up together,â she purred, looking down at you the same way she always did, and you wondered how you ever could have missed the hunger in them before.Â
Well, that wasnât quite true. Youâd seen it.Â
You just hadnât realized what she was starving for.Â
âAll those times we talked about our families and our lives and what we wanted to do with them. All the stuff we wanted to do together,â Toru hummed, her nose nearly brushing against yours now too. You were struggling to wrap your head around the idea of her being the one you spilled everything too. Fuck, how many times had you complained to her about her?Â
âI didnât know-â You started, but she made a soft shushing sound that somehow shut you up.Â
âWe can still do all of it,â she promised, like you had any interest in any of it now that you knew what a fool youâd been for putting your trust in someone you never actually knew. In her. âMe and you.âÂ
You got the impression in your already flustered brain that she was trying to be romantic.Â
That this was all supposed to be some grand gesture to show you that her feelings were genuine.Â
But it just felt like fresh embarrassment.Â
Your heart slamming against your rib cage while your thoughts ran in the same panicked circles, falling apart in front of a room full of strangers.
It sort of felt like you were being proposed to in public. Forced to say yes to not seem like a total asshole when everyone else was probably convinced she was earnestly confessing to you.Â
And after years of being around her, you already had the experience to know the universe would always side with her.Â
âWhat do you expect me to say?â You finally spoke, flat-out dumbfounded as your voice trembled. Her treachery was already twisting into something else in your stomach, your body attempting to turn it into something flattering just so you could cope with it. The intoxicating scent of her perfume stuffing your nostrils and clouding your thinking as you struggled to sort out all the different emotions rattling around inside you.Â
The hurt and the heartache and the conflicting feelings of loss and longing for someone that wasnât there. The scariest part was that some sliver of you was starting to consider Toru.Â
Starting to want her.Â
Acknowledging that you couldnât actually have Satoshi, and coming to the conclusion that she was the closest fucking thing you had.Â
The thought itself was incredibly depressing.Â
âI love you, Toru?â She offered, doing her own impression of your voice.Â
âI donât,â you argued, although you werenât sure how convincing it actually came out when her proximity left your voice quivering.Â
âWhat? You only loved me as a boy then?â She grinded her sharp canines, not quite glaring, but clearly unhappy as her blue eyes bored into yours.Â
âHow was I supposed to know my boyfriend was you?âÂ
Other than the fact he was obviously too good to be true. A guy like that would never be interested in you. No, the only person who was, apparently, was your insane classmate whoâd been pretending to be a man for two years just to get you to fall for her. Â
You almost wished this was simply blackmail. That she just wanted to hold your humiliation over your head.
This felt so much worse. So much ickier.Â
Especially when your body was beginning to betray your mind just with her touch, her scent, warping what your senses with her cruel fingers and soft skin.Â
âA girlfriend is way better than a boyfriend,â she huffed at you, rolling her eyes like you should already know that.Â
âYou want to be my girlfriend?â You asked, meant to be rhetorical rather than serious. But her eyes lit up, lips lifting up into a blinding smile as she nodded.Â
âDuh.âÂ
No. No. No.Â
This could not be-
âLetâs go check out our room,â she hummed, effortlessly changing the subject as she backed off only to grab your wrist. Throwing an annoyed look over her shoulder at all the passerbys who had not-so-subtly paused to watch whatever was happening between both of you. âSo annoying how people are always obsessed with me.âÂ
Too blind to see how much of a hypocrite she was being.
You were too stunned to stop her. Feet uselessly following after her as her pale fingertips dug deeper into your skin, dragging you around like you were just an accessory on her arm.Â
Feeling almost like you were floating along, trying to tell yourself that this was all just some fucked-up dream youâd wake up from before you got there.Â
But you didnât.Â
Just standing there like an idiot when she was holding the keycard up to the door, glancing down to realize you were still holding the flowers in your other limp hand.Â
The saddest part was you were pretty sure no one else would give you anything as remotely nice as these.Â
âI wasnât trying to ask you to be-â You tried one more time, but she was already opening the door and pulling you in.Â
âYou know, youâre kinda being ungrateful,â she huffed, shutting the door with a heavy thud as she dropped her designer purse on the floor. You didnât even think she knew how much it cost. Probably just purchased it without considering how many meals that much money couldâve bought someone else.Â
âIâm ungrateful?â You echoed, hurt coiling hot in your core as you stared in disbelief at her in front of you. You wanted it to be hurt, at least, forcing yourself to look away only to find rose petals all over the floor.Â
She reached around to start pulling down the zipper of her dress, stepping out of her heels without pausing before shimmying her clothes off.Â
Shit.Â
She wasnât wearing a fucking shred underneath.Â
You werenât a lesbian. At least, you were pretty sure you werenât a lesbian. But something was fluttering inside you against your will at the subtle bounce of her breasts when she bent over to pick up a rose petal and pinch it between her fingers, pouting like she was disappointed by the color of them.Â
âI mean, you have me in front of you, and youâre not even appreciating it,â she complained.Â
âIf youâre expecting me to beg for you-â you started, awkwardly turning to place the flowers on the closest table, but that only gave her the opportunity to move closer. To bridge the gap between you.Â
âIâm not,â she argued back, but the mischievous little grin on her face was enough to cast doubt. âBut you will anyway.âÂ
Your mouth fell open, and it felt like she had your heart in her fist, squeezing it to watch the blood slowly drip out.Â
âIâve seen how pretty you look begging,â she murmured, and that heat simmering inside you just creeped higher, flooding your face as you realized what she meant. Remembered all those videos youâd sent her thinking Satoshi was seeing them. âWanna hear it for myself.âÂ
And before you could even deal with the notion that Toru had a plethora of videos of you masturbating stashed away, that she probably had fingered herself to you, she was kissing you.Â
She tasted like candy.Â
Sugary sweet gloss melting onto your lips as her mouth messily collided with yours. You froze for a few moments, but your lips started to kiss her back. Parting to let her tongue slip in as you were torn between telling her to stop and letting this continue.Â
What could you do?Â
What should you do?Â
If she sent those videos to anyone, your life would be fucking ruined. But you didnât want to just be Toruâs pet, something she doted on in secret and embarrassed in public.Â
And at the same time, your body was reacting to hers almost instinctively, leaning forward instead of pulling away, despite your arms falling to your side, unsure if you could even touch her back.Â
Toru, on the other hand, was grabbing a handful of your ass â and one of your tits too. Groping and squeezing while her tongue explored your mouth like she owned it all.Â
Maybe if you gave into her now, if you let her have this, have you this once, you could still just leave anyway after graduation. Change your number when you changed cities, fuck, maybe changed countries if it meant getting away from the war she was waging between your head and heart.Â
âYouâre such a bitch,â you breathed when she broke the kiss, knowing that if she kissed you again, you werenât going to stop her either.Â
She laughed. At that, or maybe just at you.Â
And then she was grabbing your hips, twisting you around and guiding you back to the bed, pushing you down on it hard enough to knock the air from your chest.Â
âDonât be a brat,â she pouted, pushing her glossy lips out as she easily rolled up your little skirt around your hips. Grinning at the sight of your lacy little panties, the pure white shade that came a little too close to her hair that she quickly pulled down around your thighs next.
âIâm not a-âÂ
Your words died in your throat as she slipped a delicate finger inside your warmth before you could protest what exactly you were. No better than a bitch in heat when just an experimental circle had a broken gasp escaping your mouth.Â
She smiled at you again, pride and amusement shining like stars in her blue stare. You supposed sheâd just found a new way to play with her favorite toy.Â
âYouâre so cute,â she complimented, climbing on top of you, her knee nudging your thighs further apart as her other hand trailed underneath your shirt.Â
You swallowed hard. You knew you should say something else.Â
Tell her to fuck off.Â
But nothing came out.Â
All the words dried up as she dragged her finger even deeper inside you.Â
And then added another digit. Slowly getting to work stretching you open, feeling the way your walls started to squeeze down reflexively as she held your stare hostage.Â
âYou wanna tell me just how much you donât like me?â She condescendingly hummed, daring you to disagree with her.Â
âDo you hate me?â You asked instead, still struggling to wrap your head around the fact this was happening, no longer confident in something you had been certain of an hour ago. That somehow, you were proving her right. That just by being underneath her like this, with the taste of her candied lip gloss on your mouth and her fingers stuffing you full, you had become exactly what she said you were.Â
A loser in love with her.Â
You tried to tell yourself again that you werenât.Â
âIâm literally, like, in love with you,â she pouted, a hint of a familiar whine in it like she was sick of saying the same thing in different ways. âWhat do I have to do to make you see that, hm, pretty?âÂ
Probably erase the past few years from your memory, but you had a feeling she might engineer something like a car accident if it had the chance to cause retrograde amnesia â and force you to let her take care of you.Â
And then her thumb drifted over your clit, and you forgot what you were thinking anyway with the soft pressure she applied.Â
âDoesnât it feel good?â She hummed, begging to rub careful circles over it, your body tensing as your chest tightened at the sensation. Your overheating core threatened to send shivers down your spine as her fingertips prodded deeper, faster.Â
âT-Toru-â You didnât know what you were even trying to say, brows knitting together as sweat started to drip down your forehead, everything inside you quickly grew all fuzzy.Â
âYou know, no one else could make you feel this good, sweetheart,â she said, teasing you as her thumb pressed that sensitive bud between your thighs like it was a goddamn button.Â
Activating an embarrassingly primal part of your brain as you felt the pleasure build closer towards a climax you couldnât believe you might be having.Â
âNo one else will ever know you like I do,â Toru continued, and you loathed that she might be correct. You told her everything. Every thought. Every secret. Every dream. You didnât think youâd ever be able to trust anyone else like that again. âLove you like I do.âÂ
You wanted to hate this as much as you hated her.Â
But her fingers were longer than yours, hitting spots you couldn't on your own as she slipped a third one in, swirling it around to tease you with that pretty, lilting laugh of hers.Â
âLook at you,â she cooed, still mocking you even when you were in her hotel bed. âSoaked on my fingers like a slut.âÂ
You were.
Shaking and squirming as her fingers pumped in and out of you, whimpering weakly as she played you like a goddamn instrument. You knew you were going to cum.Â
Knew that sheâd won.Â
Toru had made a mess of you. Unravelled you into a million little pieces that probably would never be put back together again.Â
âThatâs it, my pretty little lamb,â she cooed, and you wished your head was a little clearer to understand what she giggled about next. Your thighs trembling when she finally crooked her fingers just right, her thumb dragging over your clit with the perfect amount of pressure to finally make you cum for her.Â
Your eyes drifting down to her bare body over you, her perfect tits, her flawless skin, the shape of her hips and thighs as her fingers worked in and out of you, her thumb working you through your orgasm as you broke.Â
Bent into something unrecognizable under her pressure, her presence, blinking as your brain basically stopped functioning when she filled it with just thoughts of her.Â
Watching numbly when she stood up and walked to her bag and back, white hair spilling over her shoulder as she tilted her head to the side to look at the phone in her hand, squinting at the screen as she angled it to capture where you were splayed out in the bleached white sheets.Â
âSay cheese.âÂ

âAre you staring at my tits?âÂ
Watching numbly when she stood up and walked to her bag and back, white hair spilling over her shoulder as she tilted her head to the side to look at the phone in her hand, squinting at the screen as she angled it to capture where you were splayed out in the bleached white sheets.Â
âSay cheese.âÂ

my self-respect when femjo:
I feel like ever since normies started to come into fandom spaces they ruined it for everyone else, like what happened to don't like don't read or how about an artist draws a ship or character you don't like you just block them or better idea just scroll away.
Tumblr getting rid of NSFW didn't help with this, either. I started the blog the year it happened lol so I have no idea how things would've turned out, back then was rough, but nothing like it is today. People are reactionary to things they see first online, so if they see "This fetishizes this-" they don't look into it, they simply agree.
They don't even care to look into any studies saying that what we do is harmless. They don't care about being right, they care about being superior because they have an identity complex and can't handle that people enjoy things in a way they personally don't like. They bring up arguments that can be easily disproven, and when they're cornered, they call you an abuser or pedophile to further weaken the meaning of a serious crime and continue to hurt victims like myself.
Taboo fetishes of all walks of life are harmless, especially in a fictional world. Humans have always had ways of imagination to escape. It's been like this since we could walk upright. Thought crimes aren't a thing, and expression in art and writing as well as sexual endeavors have been demonized through all of history.
Saying anything else makes it sound like my mom when she thought listening to angry music would make me evil rather than actually giving me a healthy outlet to heal some mental wounds. No, I just like the aesthetics, and think blood and yandere's are neat.
I don't think people into Yangire and gore are actually out here trying to "normalize" murder. I think they're neat individuals who are into stuff I get squicked about, and that's it. I don't think furries want to have sex with actual animals, and I don't think people into diaper play want to do anything other than live their lives in a safe place.
So I block and move on. (Not the furries, I love furries <3 )
This goes for things that make anyone uncomfortable. Minor x adult is another one, often compared to the horrors of actual child abuse, which as a victim myself, I don't appreciate the term being watered down.
It's just art you don't like, plain and simple. It's often a tool used for therapy from other victims, but even if it isn't, I don't care. No one real being hurt? No signs of concerning real life danger? Then leave it alone.
I don't want people thrown in jail over cartoons, I want them in jail for actual crimes. This goes for everything in fandom and fiction. Monster fucking is bestiality, gore is murder porn and snuff, and I've been told in MY OWN INBOX that I glorify rape and deserve what happened to me when I was stalked and harassed, on top of being assaulted. Anything in fandom is illegal under the guise of what these people put it under, and it's legitimately the video games cause violence argument but remixed.
These tropes and creations are things that could be considered grounds to arrest someone for art wise, which is never ok, because no one in these scenarios are REAL. (not to mention conservatives use it as a way to harm queer and trans creators, especially if they're POC.)
It also takes the responsibility away from actual monsters, pointing fingers at art and saying "This made me do it!" Rather than accepting the fact they made the full cognitive decision to do what they did. The people who hurt me didn't hurt me because art and fic told them do, they hurt me because they wanted to.
Fiction hurts no one. If someone pulls the evangelical "if someone reads it they want to do it." card, it's bullshit. It's used to infantilize AFABs mostly, as anything dark romance or otherwise is seen as enabling abuse instead of a fun steamy scenario to have fun with, or even to help with trauma.
To some, BDSM is considered noncon and rape despite it being around for as long as humans have been, and adults who consent to it are still seen as horrible people despite it just being Matt from accounting who likes hot wheels and ropes. Calling someone Daddy/ Mommy has incestuous terms and vibes, yet we all know it isn't anything more than some roleplay with power dynamics.
Supernatural has millions of incest fics and everyone knows incest IRL isn't ok. Game of Thrones has nothing but rape, incest, war and murder, and the millions of people who watch still know it's fantasy, and therefore, not ok to implement in real life.
I write for incest. I write for noncon / rape, as that's literally tied to what yandere's do. I write for bull hybrids and werewolves and scp monsters. Y'all know this shit isn't ok in real life and are able to enjoy a fantasy setting, so why other people can't, is frustrating. They're looking for a scapegoat and don't realize that the "freaks" they hate so much are the ones trying to keep fascism out. I can't sit on a soapbox and pretend I'm some holier than thou writer when my shits on the chopping block too.
I'll always stand by the ship and let ship, and stand by anti censorship. Even the shit I find gross deserves a place to be labeled appropriately and exist in a way I can block it out, and leave it be.
Even saying this, right now, this lukewarm take of "Well if no one who is real is hurt who cares." has me questioning if it's even safe to post over harassment. Fairytales and playing dolls has become so vile and toxic I can't even say the bare minimum of fandom rules.
TL;DR: You don't have to like something that brings genuine discomfort, but acting like real crimes are happening isn't ok. It waters down the severity a lot of actual crimes deserve, and makes freedom of expression, even expression you dislike, more and more conservative and fascist. Don't like, Don't read, and move on.

you'll feel like a total dipshit train wreck and no matter what some girl is gonna see you and think "role model". you can't kill yourself you have to go be clocky in the gas station so a 14 year old can have the trajectory of her life altered forever
as annoying as it is to work fast food, at my previous job one time a kid recognized the theta delta pin on my hat and was so fucking excited because i was the first other therian they had ever encountered offline.
"hey....are you a therian?" "yeah!" "what kind of animal?" "eh, some kinda dog" "đ˛đ im like a wolf coyote hybrid" "that's fuckin awesome"
to be weird is to cast lifelines all around you

what really drives me nuts is that like. this happens an average of x times per year as a visibly weird person, but we only get made aware of it a small fraction of the time. you can't kill yourself you have to be clocky in the gas station.
Being clocky when i was working as a barista was one of my big joys. Being clocky when i was teaching high schoolers how to play the marimba was my reason for being for half a decade. It sucks how scared I am to leave the house I live in now. But I still need to try and be clocky at the grocery store. I wish i had a job to be clocky at. Being visibly me is one of the most radical acts I'm capable of, and I hope that one day we live in a world where it isn't radical at all.
that's exactly what I was feeling when I wrote this. we all find ways to defy our fear, love is an excellent motivator.

(Warnings: implied kidnapping, captivity, implied punishments, yandere, non con touching, a bunch of mermaids drag you down into the ocean so they can stare at you all day WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME)
Merfolk and humans share many similarities.
Humans love animals, many often make great strides to ensure the pets they keep are healthy. You knew of many cat owners and dog owners in your time on land. A few humans also opt for taking care of more exotic creatures: reptiles, birds, insects. Though they aren't the most traditional, it's clear they love their animals just as much.
Merfolks also enjoy being pet owners. They mainly keep humans.
You stare at the mirror. The dress looks more like it's wearing you, rather than the other way around. It's frumpy, with frills and bows in every place you look. Impractical, is the only word you can describe it as. The heels weren't any better, already constricting your feet. You'd fall if you took two steps. Luckily, you didn't have anywhere to go.
If it were up to you, you would have burned the dress a long time ago. Unfortunately, your owner would not appreciate your lack of gratitude.
There's a soft tap on the glass. You'd like to ignore it, but you know better. Merfolk are prideful as they are beautiful. You remembered the last time you stubbornly ignored a visitor. Some nights, you can still feel the water in your lungs, the taste of seawater in the back of your throat.
You reluctantly rise up from the vanity mirror. The walk to the end of the room is short and yet daunting. It's not so much of a room than it is a bubble. The space is larger than a house, with a ceiling that stretches tens of feet above you. It's more of a ballroom, packed with things that resembled a home: a bed, a mirror, a desk, a bathtub.
There were no walls, nothing but crystal clear glass. Why would a pet need a silly thing such as privacy?
Scarlet red hair and a long tail greet you. He looks enthusiastic as soon as you meet his gaze, spinning and bobbing in the water.
"Eiji." You greet, hoping your voice and smile is soft and sweet-just the way he likes it.
Kirishima seems satisfied with your act. His grin deepens, showing you his sharp teeth.
"I missed you!" He says your name with a happy thrill. "Did you miss me? It's been so long since I last saw you. Is Momo treating you well?" He frowns, clawed hands scraping at the glass that divides the both of you.
His voice is slightly muffled, but you can hear him just fine. Unlike the others, Kirishima is specifically prohibited from entering your terrarium. He's too brash, too reckless, uncontrollable. Those are the traits Momo often complains about. You've seen the way he ripped apart a human ship with his bare hands, all with a smile on his face.
For once, you and your owner share the same sentiments.
"She's been well to me. Everyone has." You insist.
He brightens. "Oh! I have a gift for you." He unveils his hand.
A pretty necklace sits in his palm. It gently floats in the current.
"It's beautiful." You awe. "Is it for me? Thank you."
He nods excitedly, preening and your acceptance.
"Is Momo here? I'll give it to her." He suggests.
You give an apologetic smile. "She's out with Jirou. I'll let her know you came by." You suggest.
"That's okay!" He tells you. "In that case, why don't you let me in?"
You can feel your smile freeze on your lips.
"Oh..." you trail off, pretending to think, pretending that your heart isn't pounding in your chest. "I'm not sure if Momo would like that."
"It's okay." Kirishima tries to assuage your concerns. "She won't have to know. It'll be our little secret." He winks.
When you continue to hesitate, his smile starts to fade.
"Do you not like me?"
"What?" You backtrack. "It's not like that. I just-"
"I'm the only one not allowed to come see you and touch you." His voice drops. His tone shifts from a whine to something more akin to a growl. "I can only talk to you with this wall stuck between us!" He presses harder against the glass. You swear you heard it crack.
"I don't get it, why don't you want to let me in, why don't you want to-"
He's cut off by a hand yanking on his hair.
"You're not allowed in 'cuz you're a dumbass." Bakugou gruffs out.
Immediately, Kirishima reverts back to his original self. He whines as he holds his hair, complaining about how rough the other merfolk was. Bakugou hardly seems to care about his grievance. His red eyes focus on you.
You stare right back.
While Kirishima was built like a tank, Bakugou was built for agility. Heâs far longer than Eijirou, with an orange and black tale that glimmers like gold in the sunlight. The fins on his face and hands are the same pattern. His neck is often covered in necklaces covered in gems and shark teeth. He never fails to stand out.Â
Much like Kirishima, Bakugou also seemed to respond well to your placating, though he isn't as expressive. He and Kirishima often visit you at the same time. You think it's intentional on Bakugou's part. He seems to like to step in and play hero when Kirishima grows too erratic. You arch your lips in a smile, trying to look relieved and happy to see him, despite the flip-flopping in your stomach. His red eyes simmer a bit.
Then, he looks down at your outfit and scoffs.
"The fuck are you wearing?" He asks.
You glance down, looking at the ridiculous amount of frills and bows.
"Momo gave it to me." You could only answer.
"Course she did." He sneers. "Always had a shit sense of fashion."
His lips curl as he surveys you a bit more. You don't like the look in his eyes.
"You need something that shows more skin." He decides on.
Kirishima floats next to him. He tilts his head as he looks at you.Â
âThatâs a good idea.â He agrees. âMaybe something a bit more red.âÂ
Itâs odd how naked they make you feel sometimes, like youâre nothing but fillet freshly served and ready for them to eat.Â
Thatâs probably how they saw you.Â
Bakugou retreats slightly. They exchange glances.Â
âWe have to go,â Kirishima says, clearly disappointed. âIâm sorry. I promise to visit you as soon as I can tomorrow.âÂ
You wave him off as he disappears into the murky sea. Bakugou starts to follow but he hesitates.Â
He looks once more over your dress.Â
âIâll find you something.â You donât know if that promise is to you or himself. Heâs gone with the flick of his orange tail.Â
You finally take your first real breath of air in minutes.Â
~Â
In the center of your terrarium, sits a large pool of water that gradually seeps up from below.Â
Itâs where most of the merfolk like to visit you. Talking behind the glass is mostly reserved for quick visits. During their leisure, most of them like to sit at the edge of the pool, swishing their tails back and forth as you obediently sit beside them.Â
Though youâd never admit it, you did have your favorite share of visitors. Perhaps favorite isnât the best term. Most tolerable. You liked Jirou, the more musically inclined of the merfolk. Sheâs not a big fan of touching, happy to sit at the pool and hum tunes.Â
Sometimes, she goes a bit overboard, gets caught up in her songs, and starts to really sing. She typically stops when your nose bleeds and your head feels like itâs about to crack open. Mermaid songs arenât made for human ears.Â
Iida is another one who is on the tolerable side. You donât like how coddling he is sometimes, but heâs pretty respectful. He isnât too keen on touching, either. You canât tell if itâs the genuine lack of desire, or the fear of never getting enough once he does. Sometimes, you can see his fingers twitch and his mouth clench in a way that you force yourself to ignore.Â
Midoriya and Ochako have no such regulations.Â
âIs that the dress Momo gave you?â Ochako asks when she floats up to you. Without hesitation, she reaches out and lightly tugs on a bow.Â
âItâs adorable!â She squealed.
Beside her, Midoriya grins. âThe color suits you.â He compliments.Â
âThank you.â You tell them both, allowing Midoriya to fiddle with your shoes with scarred hands.Â
Youâre pretty sure itâs his favorite part of you. When you first became Momoâs, Midoriya could not take his eyes off of you. You often wondered if you were the first human heâd ever met. He always seemed to watch your every move, memorizing every action you did. At least, he has the decency to look bashful every time he gets caught looking up your skirt.Â
Ochako is a bit more obvious with her interest. Her hands often stop lingering right at your thighs, mostly because she knows sheâs not allowed to go any further. You have this scary thought that if Momo was any less restrictive of you, Ochako wouldnât ever stop exploring every nook and crevice your clothes hid away.Â
Eventually, you fade into the background as the two friends catch up with eachother. They talk about their lives, what theyâve been up to, small talk. It reminds you of the talks you had with your own friends all those years ago, before you were dragged down into the depths by slender hands and pretty lips.Â
âDid you hear about Todorokiâs newest human?â Ochako asks.Â
Midoriya gives her a sympathetic look. âI heard. Poor thing. He only had that one for a few weeks, too.âÂ
From your brief glimpse into merfolk culture, it seems only a certain type of merfolk are able to obtain and keep humans. Momo is one of them, which is why so many flock to her terrarium, eager for a glimpse of you.Â
The other is Todoroki.Â
Unlike the others, you never knew how to treat Todoroki. He never seemed to respond to your placating, or your feigns of appreciation to his appearance. His face remained blank every time he approached your terrarium. He hardly ever spoke. Despite being allowed to, heâs never once entered your terrarium.Â
He just watches. Every move you make. Every breath you take. He catalogs it all.Â
He keeps humans, too. Multiple. You hear he replaces them once a month.Â
Ochako seems to finally catch on that youâre listening. She coos, reaching out her hands. You obediently lean down to rest your face in her cradling fingers. Her claws ever so slightly scratch your checks.Â
âDid I scare you?â She asks. âIâm sorry. Donât worry, nothing like that will happen to you.âÂ
âOf course not.â Midoriya assures. âYouâre so sweet. Momo would never replace you.âÂ
Ironically, you often wished Momo would get bored of you and replace you. Especially in the beginning. You used to hope sheâd find another human and forget all about you.Â
Maybe itâs a good thing you continue to hold her eyes to this dayâ considering what getting replaced means down here in the depths.Â
~
You never know what time it is.Â
The merfolk have no such thing as clocks, and sunlight does not reach this far in this ocean. You have no idea if the sun or moon is out. The only light you have comes from the terrarium itself.Â
Itâs scary to think that all thatâs between you and the tumultuous sea is delicate glass. One tiny crack, a miniscule chink in your frail armor, and it could all come crashing down. Millions upon millions of seawater would descend on you. You wouldnât drown. You would be destroyed. Not a trace of you would be left behind.Â
Thereâs no way to tell time here, but you know itâs the end of the day when Momo comes back.Â
She slowly eases her way into the pool with the grace of a ballerina. Water drips from her pretty face and hair as she peers up at you with adoration. Silently, she lifts her hand out.Â
You step forward, uncaring about soaking your dress as you float into her arms. Momo grabs you when your feet can no longer touch the bottom. She brings you into her chest, face pressed into your neck.Â
âWelcome back.â You murmur.Â
âThank you, darling.â She coos, inhaling your scent.Â
âDid you have a good day?âÂ
You nod. She pulls back, searching your face.Â
âI heard Kirishima made a scuffle a while ago.â She frowns. âDid he scare you?âÂ
You shake your head. She doesnât buy it.Â
âIâll be stricter on him going forward.â She tells herself.
A part of you hopes this means you wonât have to see him for a while. Thatâs usually what she meant.Â
She hums as she spins you around in the water. It feels like the two of you were dancing as she holds you against her, like sheâs leading the waltz.Â
She glances down at your dress. âDo you like the dress?â She asks.Â
You nod. âI love it.â You tell her. âThank you for giving it to me.âÂ
âI ran into Bakugou, earlier. He certainly wasnât a fan.â She rolls her eyes. âI believe his exact words were âa lump of shitty bowsâ.âÂ
âHe mentioned heâd bring me something else.â You offhandedly mention.Â
âDid he?â She wonders. âWhat do you think of that?âÂ
You smile. âI appreciate anything everyone gives me. Especially you.âÂ
She likes that answer. âWhat do you like about the dress?â She asks.Â
You look down at the soaked fabric. Itâs ruined now, but neither of you care. Sheâs planning on getting you a new one tomorrow. And the day after that. And the day after that.Â
âI like the color.â You tell her, trying to sound eager. âI just really love the shade. I also like the shoes. They may not be practicable butââÂ
You stop as soon as you hear those words. It was too late.Â
Momoâs eyes darken.Â
âYou donât like the shoes?âÂ
âNo!â You immediately backtrack. âI adore them! IâI meant they just werenât the best for swimming, thatâs all. Theyâre so beautiful, Momo. Every part of the dress is so beautiful.â The words rush out like vomit. Momo doesnât seem to hear any of them.Â
She sets you down at the edge of the pool, pulling away. She refuses to look at you. In desperation, you try to reach her, trying to escape your fate.Â
âIâm sorry,â you tell her. Your voice trembles. âIâI didnât mean it like that. I love the dress. Iâm so sorry.âÂ
Eventually, she sighs. She takes her hand in her own, pressing it to her cheek. Her skin is several degrees cooler than yours and stiff. It oddly feels like sheâs dead.Â
âNo, Iâm sorry.â She tells you and she looks genuinely remorseful.Â
Your shoulders are about to sag in relief, when she continues.Â
âI havenât trained you well.âÂ
You try to smile. It comes out like a grimace.Â
âThatâs not true,â you say.Â
She nods, continuing to lavish your body heat. âIt is. You wouldnât be so ungrateful, if I had.âÂ
She hesitates at this next part.Â
âI was talking to Todoroki a while ago. He mentioned he had some experience with training humans. I think it would be a good idea if he kept you for a few days.âÂ
Something lodges at the back of your throat. You want to scream.Â
âYou want me to leave?â You ask instead, already on the brink of a breakdown.Â
She shakes her head, leaning up to give a kiss on your freezing cheek.Â
âIâll never abandon you,â she tells you with unwavering eyes that almost make you want to believe her.Â
âBut, itâs not good for either of us if you keep acting up like this. We need to deal with that somehow.âÂ
Outburst. She considers a hint of criticism as an outburst, of you lashing out. Any hint of disobedience is shot down because pets arenât allowed to complain.Â
She looks heartbroken as she looks at you. You feel her lips against hers as you remember cold eyesâone blue, the other black. Always watching. Never not watching.Â
âMaybe in a week." She hums. "Youâll see all that I do for you.âÂ
"everyone should get more aromantic" can appeal to tumblr's sensibilities but I genuinely think everyone should also get more asexual. I don't mean everyone stop having sex, what I mean is
Sex is not essential. You can live without it. Full stop.
Not having sex isn't shameful or a sign of failure. It also doesn't make anyone boring.
You are not entitled to having sex with anybody and nobody is entitled to having sex with you.
Sex is not what makes someone an adult.
Nobody's worth is defined by how much sex they have or don't have.
Sex is not equally important to everyone.
You can have fulfilling and happy relationships without sex.
You should only have sex on your own terms, not because you feel like you owe it to someone, or because you feel like you'd be incomplete without it.
Know your boundaries around sex and be firm about them. Know how to respect other people's boundaries.
The previous point also applies when it comes to discussing sex. If someone doesn't wanna talk about it or hear about it you have to back down.
Anything can be sexual but not everything has to be sexual.
Firmly convinced the world would be a better place if we started treating sex the way we'd treat any other mundane preference in life, like what kind of chips a person likes to eat with their lunch.
The only person who needs to know how much sex I am or am not having is your mom

SEBEK ZIGVOLT is a man who prioritizes duty above all else. He has his duty to Malleus, to be the protecter of the Valley of Thornsâ future king. He has his duty to his parents and grandfather, to make them proud as a student of Night Raven College. He has his duty to himself, to be the very best version he can be with due diligence.
He has no duty to you.
Itâs laughable truly, to even consider a mere human worthy of his fealty! And a magickless one at that, lugging around a tasteless and brazen beast leeching off your hard work. You might as well be a carpet, with how you just let everyone walk all over you. Exactly. Yes, yes! Thatâs what you are! A carpet that happened to be⌠everyoneâs favorite carpet⌠including his young lordâs. Hm. Aggravating.
Ping!Â
Whatever that buzz in his pocket entailed, he ignored it in favor of getting lost in his thoughts. Ping! Clearly, you might not be as magickless as you claim. Perhaps you had some enchantment placed on you, with how you drew men to your side like it was nothing. Ping! Sebek had once assumed that you were at least aware of this enchantment, but with how miserable you were with anything magic-related, he quickly waved the thought away. Ping! Someone else, then. But what for? All it did was bring you misery, but surely there are other better ways to curse someoneâŚÂ
âBE QUIET!â He roars as he whips out his phone, scaring the people near him as he glares down at the screen. It was that inspid group chat again, the name âDRACONIA FAN CLUB đ˛đ˛đ˛â scrawled across the top in a futile attempt to pique his interest. He had tried numerous times to change the name, but that Trappolla was the admin and refused to give him any privileges.

ACE TRAPPOLA added JACK HOWL to the group chat. SUPREME LEADER (ACE TRAPPOLA): nuh uh
What did he expect? Of course it was Trappola up to his shenanigans. Sebek had also tried to leave the group chat many times before, but Ace was so adamant on keeping him there that he decided that putting the group on mute was a better use of his time than trying to push the point. Just as Sebek was about to put his phone away and head to the library, another grating ping came from the group chat.

The image attached was a picture of the prefect, tears welling up in their eyes as they nurse a bruise on their cheek. It was clear that they were forced to hold up a peace sign by whoever was behind the camera, their oversized sleeping shirt dipping from their shoulder to expose their clavicle and the sliiighest hint of their chest. It was not a picture that Sebek was interested in, and he was sure that Jack Howl shared the same sentiments.
What was it with these humans and their overly sadistic tendencies? Trappola had made it their favorite hobby to torment the prefect both physically and mentally, Felmier liked to switch from sugary-sweet to downright devilish just to knock their guard down, and even Spade who tried to his best to become the prefectâs protector couldnât hide his glee when they were vulnerable and in need of someone stronger. Howl, for all his beating around the bush, did not goof around when it came to the prefectâs safety. Sebek shook his head. Humans were truly the worst.

Just as the entire group chat begins to blow up about how Sebek is online, he shoves the phone into his pocket and finally looks upâ just in time to bump into the person who has been occupying his thoughts as of late.
âFfngah! Henchman, are you okay?!â Sebekâs sturdy chest has you sprawled on the floor and your familiar is fussing over you as you try to get your bearings. The contents of your messenger back has been spilled, and Sebek lets out a frustrated long sigh before he bends down and picks them up.
âHuman,â he starts, same scowl on his face as always. âIt is absolutely irresponsible of you to inconvenience people like this in the hallway! You best look where youâre going!â He picks up the papersâ for history you held high marks, but another paper with your magical alchemy after-report depicts an embarrassingly low grade. Disgraceful.
Grim leaps on his four feet, hissing at Sebek. âWhaddya mean âlook where youâre goingâ?! My henchmanâs been calling out to you since awhile ago before you decided to bump into them! This is all your fault, you stupid pompadour!â Sebekâs eyes widen at the insult of his very carefully maintained hairstyle and opens his mouth to yell at the inspid cat, but your visibly tired face catches his mind and he composes himself. Heâs no stranger to the absurd rumors around youâ heâs even in a group chat of the perpetratorsâ and he decides to grant you some mercy. You are already overwhelmed as it is, and while that is no excuse to slack off on your responsibilities, even Sebek has to admit that your situation is far from ideal.
He forcibly pulls you up by the wrist with no grace whatsoever, but his hands are gentle when he smoothens out your hair and fixes your uniform. âYou are a disgrace to look at, [Y. Name],â he bluntly states, stepping back to assess you. âI have heard that you stayed at a time in Pomefiore. Why is the condition of your skin severely lacking?â
âThatâs because Iâm staying in Ignihyde now,â you say, picking up Grim and giving Sebek a grateful smile. âCanât sleep. Not with all that clicking and clacking andââ You visibly pale before shaking your head and feeling the lobe of your ear for something. âSorry. Shall we go the cafeteria together?â
Unlike the others, Sebek has always noted how you donât feel offput by his overbearing demeanor. Ever since the events of his young lordâs overblot, he has built a⌠rapport with the other first years. Nevertheless, they liked to complain of his tendencies. Absurd! When clearly he was the only one among them who knew how to hold himself in a dignified manner! At least you had the decency to heed his words. You smile thoughtfully when he tells you to straighten yourself, you listen attentively when he teaches you even with all his smug remarks, and when he tells you to go behind him, you do without a single peep. He would think that you enjoyed being nagged. But since you had the nerve to hang around his young lord, then you should at least have the humility to listen to his retainer!
Walking side-by-side with you, he feels his role of a protector more than ever. Even though he is one of the knights of Briar Valleyâs next prince, he is keenly aware that his young lordâs power exceeds his own. You, however, lost and afraid and an alien⌠you could not even lift a finger against him if you tried. He thinks back to the picture sent by Ace in the group chat and shakes his head. The pathetic human is already pathetic. Why drive them further into their own misery?
âYou should stay away from the others for a while,â he says, sounding more than a demand rather than a suggestion. âI am sure you are no fool, [Y. Name]. None of the other dorms act in your best interests. Until Ramshackle is restored, it is best you stay over in Diasomnia for your own sake.â You seem to eye him warily, but you soon shake whatever thoughts are forming in your head. âMaster Lilia has voiced his thoughts last night over⌠ergh, dinner.â He had to brush his teeth for half an hour to get the taste out. âYoung Lord and Silver are of the same sentiment.â He thumps his chest with his fist proudly, a smug look crossing his features. âDiasomnia will provide you with more hospitality than those other fools. After all, we conduct ourselves with actual dignity.â
This unfriendly sentiment earns looks of ire from the other dorm students as his voice booms down the hall.
âWhatâs that about dignity, Sebek?â From behind you, Ace clicks his tongue in annoyance. Heâs glaring at the fae with hands on his hips, followed by the rest of the first-years.
âYeah,â Deuce nods, cracking his knuckles with a dangerous look on his face. âYouâre speaking real loud for a guy whoâs about to go 1v4.â
âHold on, I wasnât agreeing to a fistfight, you fucking idiot.â Epel and Jack sighs, moving forward to leave behind the bickering fools as your group enters the cafeteria. âYou got a lot to say about hospitality, huh?â Epel leans forward to peer at Sebekâs face, sticking to your side as you all fall in line. âWhat could you possibly know? I think I did a good job with my hospitality.â
âHarassment, more like,â you snort, piling food on your tray every time Grim points out something. Epel elbows you in the hip and you jerk, but Sebek takes note of how you donât seem bothered by it in the slightest. Jack, meanwhile, casts a disapproving frown towards Epel. The boy just shrugs and sticks to your side even more.
âGotta take advantage,â Epel says out loud, increasing his volume for the newly-arrived duo. âIf I gotta share my bed, I should at least get something out of it, right?â His smirk looks out of place on his angelic features. âI know I got something out of it. Or something out of you.â This time, you were the one to elbow Epel.
Ace peeks his face from out behind Jackâs towering build, eager to butt into the conversation. âWhyâre you acting like youâre the only one who slept withââ Jack now elbows Ace.
Now, you look mildly uncomfortable. The conversation had attracted the attention of the people you were in line with, and Aceâs outburst continued to turn the gaze of others. You already knew about the rumors circulating about youâ how easy you were, how much of a Jezebel you must be. You averted your gaze from one leering Ignihyde student, who squeaked when five boys glared him down with the same ferocity of a lion. Even Sebek felt the teeniest bit mortified for you.
âYouâre too loud,â Sebek stiffly addresses the others. Jack looks miffed to be lumped with the others. The others look similarly miffed to be called loud by Sebek of all people. âIf youâre going to be indecent, do so in private.â You flash Sebek a grateful smile before heading to find yourselves a seat. The other boys took note of the bright blush tinging his cheeks before he follows you.
âCheat,â Ace mumbles. Everyone except Jack nodded in agreement.
âYou look tired, [Y. Name],â Deuce comments as soon as the group settles down on a table far from the other students. You seem to have caught on what would be the topic for the remainder of your lunch, so you decided to think ahead and save yourself the impending embarrassment. âHave you been sleeping much since Heartslabyul? You can always go back if you want.â Jack scoffs. âIâm pretty sure they didnât get much sleep either over there.â Deuce blushes pink before erasing whatever image he had brewing. Ace shoots a knowing grin his way.
He points a fork at the beastman, who guides it down and scolds him for the rude gesture. âYou stole them away from meâ er, us.â He amends his mistake when Deuce scowls at him. âEager to play knight, huh?â
âI actually got some sleep over at Jackâs, by the way,â you chime in. Jackâs tail starts to rapidly wag. âPerhaps the most normal night this month.â
The conversation devolves into idle chatter, comparing the dorms youâve stayed at and commenting on your hostsâ quirks. You carry yourself nonchalantly, as if youâre not describing being harrassed and being drugged. This amuses and delights both Ace and Epel, while Jack shifts uncomfortably in his seat. Deuce is currently squirming, desperately trying to stop himself from imagining how each night went. It is clear to everyone (except maybe Deuce) that youâre omitting some things, but only Ace has the audacity to push for more details.
âSo whatâs that pervy dormhead making you do, huh?â Ace leans in with an eager grin.. âIs he making you cosplay his anime waifus in his mancave? HmmâŚ?â
There it is again, you feeling the lobe of your ear for something that isnât there. Sebek catches on as your eyes nervously flit everywhere, until your eyes catch his probing ones and you force yourself to settle down. âIâd rather be anywhere than in Ignihyde right now,â you say, voice the most seething heâs heard you. It also feels like a plea, as you throw him a glance before going back to your food. âThen just leave,â Jack suggests, as if it were ever that simple. âStay the night at the infirmary. Or you can come back to Savanaclaw.â Ace. âYouâre not fucking slick, Jack.â
âI tried, okay.â Brushing off the suggestion, you purse your lips. âBut that creeâ Idia is er, surprisingly insistent. Pushy. Forceful. Take your pick. Ortho wonât even let me step out of the mirror for classes unless heâs with me.â Everyone nods in understanding. After all, who could outrun an android that can laser beams out of his hands?Â
âAt least Orthoâs taking good care of you,â Deuce tries to comfort you. You respond with a sardonic smile and choose to not comment any further.Â
âPoor Sebek canât say anything~â Ace teases, pointing at him with alternate fingers. âJealous? If you can manage to get Ortho outta the way, then itâs gonna be Diasomniaâs turn. You exci~iited? A sleepover with our pretty lil prefect~?â âAS IF!â Sebek yells, shooting up to glare daggers down at the unfazed redhead. âIT IS UNCOURTLY TO SHARE A ROOM MUCH LESS A BED WITH YOURââ He catches himself before he can say something he does not want to let slip. He calms himself and sits down, leveling everyone with mocking gaze. âI am not as beholden to beastly urges as you lot. [Y. Name] is to get the most hospitality in Diasomnia and have their own room. In fact, Master Lilia has already arranged for it. As for Orthoââ His face takes on a smug look. âHe is not a match for Master Lilia. We will welcome [Y. Name] and Grim by morning light as soon as we finish up preparations.â
Epel furrows his brows, tilting his head as he thinks about something. âHm⌠but doesnât Lilia seem the type toâŚ?â
Sebek feels the urge to yell at Epel for having such disgraceous thoughts about Lilia, but even he finds himself frowning as he considers the possibility. âWell⌠Master Lilia has his⌠quirks, but he is a great man nonetheless. A gentleman, even. I have the utmost faith that he will handle [Y. Name] with the manner befitting a host.â
Ace leans in to whisper in Epelâs ear. âYeaaaah Lilia is up to no good.â âYOU ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY, DONâT YOU?!âÂ
You are comfortably more at ease during Sebekâs whole tirade, though some of the tension is still there. âWhatever the case, anywhere is better than Ignihyde right now.â Your gaze narrows slightly, your voice dropping to an angry whisper as if something heated had angrily grasped your chest. âAnywhere is better than here.â
Sebek and Jack exchange a glance, sensitive hearing having picked up on your heated words. They purse their lips and look away.
âWhere are you going?â Epel calls out. You have abruptly stood up and taken your tray with you, barely even having touched your food. Grim is all too eager to finish the rest of them as you begin to walk. âYouâve barely even eatenâŚ!â
âGoing to Headmasterâs,â you say. You try to keep your tone light and airy, but your throat is still tight. âDonât wait up for me. Iâm not attending classes today to attend to the Headmasterâs task. See ya.â
Sebek lays in his bed, thinking about that look on your face this afternoon. Youâve always worn this passive mask, always placating the more temperamental mages with half-hearted assurances and forced smiles. Itâs a mask that has clearly already been worn before.Â
He thinks about traversing dreams with you and Silver, that same look of bitterness as you played audience to the dreams of many. He had stood shoulder to shoulder, unwillingly watching the absurd dreams of these humans play out before you. Humans have always been ugly creatures, but they had this alarming ability to pretend that they werenât. You were especially great at that, yet even you couldnât reign in the jealousy from distorting your face.
He had never commented on it. There were bigger things at hand. He needed to save Young Master, Master Lilia was dying, Silver was the child of his landâs colonizers⌠But what could there possibly be jealous of? Were you so eager to lay your soulâs deepest desires bare just like the rest of them?
With a groan, he rolls over and buries his face into the pillow. Curse you! Restful sleep evades him yet again tonight, solely because you preoccupy his thoughts!
His phone buzzes and he hesitates for a second before reaching for it. It is not a good habit to use gadgets before you sleep, but his mind is too busy to sleep that he might as well use some of its energy on whatever nonsense the group chat has cooked up.

Abhorrent. How can one be so shameless with their lust? And in front of others as well? If one could see Sebekâs face right now, the disgust may leave such a lasting expression on them that youâd think he came across a defacement of his Young Masterâs portrait.Â

Sleeping with the human
Sebek shuts off his phone and places it on the bedside, groaning to himself as his thoughts grow louder. Itâs all that everyone talks about these days. He had heard Floyd bragging about it to Riddle in the library, his voice echoing through the shelves as he droned about what he had done to you. It was nothing short of harassment, and Riddle seemed to agree because he decided to furiously cast Off With Your Head on Floyd. But even Riddle had retorted about having you in his bedroom for a tea, talking about marriage talks that even had Floyd looking dangerous (if it werenât for the collar around his neck).Â
Silver and Lilia even insisted on not bringing Malleus out to eat anywhere publicly as long as these rumors went around. The three of them knew all too well about his fondness for you, and that heâd surely strike down the rumormongers who liked to comment on what your performance could be like in bed. You must have been elated to have Ramshackle destroyed, they say, because now you have an excuse to whore yourself out as much as you wanted. Sebel had struck down a few students for saying that within his earshot. How much more Malleus?
Still. It vexes him how much one humanâ and a non-mage at that!â could stir up an entire school like you do. You liked to play the unassuming part, a supporting role as you set up the stage for the mages to take center. Not to say that you were unassuming. You are on the prettier side⌠but⌠Sebek hides his blush deeper into his pillow. The fact was! You were nothing special! Nothing special, indeedâŚ
class idiot (DEUCE SPADE): i wish i couldâve slept with [y. name] đ
He thinks back to Deuceâs message. To prostate themselves over a mere magickless⌠how humiliating for a student of Night Raven College! What was there to wish for! To have your body nestled next to his, sharing your warmth as you shielded yourselves from Diasomniaâs cold? To have your fingers clasped around his sword-calloused hands, comforting yourself as you experience a nightmare? To open your eyes and see Sebek, relief flooding you as you know that there will at least be one man in this world who wouldnât hurt you? To press your lips on his forehead, then on his cheek, then to his cold lips? To have your lips sweetly say the words heâs beenâŚ
Sebek shoots up, absolutely mortified at these dangerous thoughts. Sebek Zigvolt! A trained warrior from birth, heir to the noble and dignified Zigvolt line! How could he let his thoughts fall to depravity! For his temptations to succumb to one (albeit pretty-looking) human! He shakes his head as if trying to loosen all the blockage from his brain, massaging his aching temples. Tomorrow dawn, he will swing his sword a thousand times to atone for this weakness!
But tonight, he pouts to himself and squeezes his eye shut, traitorous mind wandering off to when he might see you within the halls of Diasomnia again.
a/n ! im gonna be real w u idk what i was going for either... i wanted something that would be an insight into what mc was going through... but rather it seemed to be an insight on a perverted gc and a more (normal) sebek [hes gonna have his yandere moments in his section dont worry]. i was hoping to use sebek to provide a more normal perspective on whats going on... but hmmm :/// also jack doesnt talk in the last gc convo bc its way past his bedtime and hes sleepy lol. i think rushed thru this intermission too much. ill take my time and perfect the diasomnia one! promise!

the fact that "eco" and "ethical" are two separate concerns in the global north, and that "eco" is a much more popular concern, with many "eco" products being made in actual sweatshops, is a big part of why i am The Joker
if you think this is an exaggeration or splitting hairs where it doesn't matter:
i used to work at a Local Organic Produce store that's popular with the lefties in my city who are interested in food justice. i quit for a lot of reasons, mostly the boss, but something i will always remember is one of our suppliers coming in to drop off produce, being told her check wasn't ready, and her laughing and responding it didn't matter -- even a low bank account was more than enough to pay the migrants who picked her produce. i am not filling in any blanks here. she said this.
after quitting, this was a common story i told people about my time there. some then became annoyed at me, acting like i was a wokescold trying to undermine the store's "eco" mission with unrelated "ethical" concerns. but, like -- if food justice isn't for the people making food, who the fuck is it for?
like, don't get me wrong. my contention here is that the things go hand in hand, and that something which is unethical isn't actually eco. after all, humans are a part of the fucking ecosystem, and if a product can only be made by unsustainably exploiting humans, then it's unsustainable. doesn't matter which chemicals were used in making it, or whether or not animals were factory farmed.
they *cannot* be separated. a product cannot be either eco or ethical â it must be both. a product that is made through human suffering cannot be eco for the reasons you said; a product that causes human suffering by contributing to the destruction of the ecosystem cannot be ethical. it must be both and we must insist on both
