Henry taking care of Reader (who is in pain or sick) Headcanons!
A/N: Definitely not the valentine’s day post i had planned but that’s life haha. Finally feeling better myself and not in pain anymore so I thought I’d be a little self indulgent!
-Henry notices immediately that you’re not seeming yourself and gets super concerned
-So you tell him what happened/what’s wrong and he’s instantly ready to take care of you
-He’ll ignore whatever he had to do today and for as long as he needs to because you feeling better is now his only priority
-Henry carefully lifts you up and takes you back to bed, taking care to prop up pillows, tuck you in, he’ll make sure you’re as comfortable as possible!!
-And then he’ll kiss you on the forehead and say he’ll be right back.
-So he runs down to the kitchen a throws your fave soup together for you, doing it in the crockpot so when you want it later it’ll be perfectly warm.
-And then he gathers whatever you might need. Heating pad, a ice pack, a thermometer, water, any medicine and comes running back to you.
-In pain: if you’re in pain he’ll give you pain reliever and start applying heat/ice intermittently. he’s so diligent with it, always asking if it’s too hot or too cold (even testing it on himself first to double check), and watching your face to see if there’s any change in your expression. and oh how relieved he feels when that crease of discomfort between your brows lessens and you seem a little more comfortable.
-also if your pain is muscular he’s so happy to gently massage where it hurts to try to get the muscle to relax and release
-Sick: if you’re sick he’ll take your temperature, and get worried when he sees you have a fever. so he gives you medicine and of course tissue to help your nose. and he’ll insist on continuing to check your temperature to see if there’s any change.
-(And no he doesn’t care if he gets sick, he wants to take care of you)
-Either way! he’ll cuddle in with you, holding you in whatever way feels most comfortable for you wether that’s actual cuddles or even just holding your hand.
-He’s always making sure you’re drinking water too so that you’re staying hydrated.
-When you start getting restless from having to be in bed he’ll find ways to entertain you. He’ll read out loud the book you’ve been reading, watch your favorite movie or series with you, or make up completely ridiculous stories to make you smile…and then makes you laugh which consequently either hurts or makes you cough and he starts apologizing profusely and kissing your face. but you promise him he doesn’t need to apologize for making you laugh.
-When you start getting hungry he goes down and gets a bowl of soup for you. and then even though you assure him you can eat it yourself he insists on feeding it to you (he loves feeding you, so he’s not going to pass the opportunity up)
-Inevitably when night comes and you feel worse (because why does that always happen?) he’ll lay there and hold you, trying desperately to soothe you. He feels awful that you feel like this :(
-To his relief you do fall asleep, but he stays up the whole night in case you need anything
-He keeps taking care of you for as many days as it takes you to feel better. In fact you’re pretty sure he only leaves your side to make you food or grab you something you need.
-And when you finally feel better he’s so relieved and you go outside together so you can stretch your legs and feel the warmth of the sun. and he wraps his arms around you and says he’s happy you’re feeling better and you smile and say “how could i not? you took such good care of me”
