Hi. What if...? SJW is Ashborn's son this au. How exactly that would work is an entirely different question but! Igris and some platoon get send to keep Jin-Woo safe and then the gates open and Jin-Woo for the first time ever decides to try talking to the strange people he can sense hiding in his shadow.

Well, Jin-Woo is the oldest child, so it’s possible Park Kyung-Hye could have been pregnant with him before getting together with Sung Il-Hwan. I don’t know her age, but twenty four years ago (Jin-Woo's canon age at start of canon), she would have been a young adult, which is an age range where people are more likely to have flings or one night stands.

Ashborn could have been visiting Earth out of curiosity, trying to learn more about humans. Or maybe he was just bored. But he sees humans getting together and becomes curious about relationships and sex. And he either has a short fling or a one night stand with Kyung-Hye. He also tells her that he lives overseas and is just on vacation, to give an explanation for why he’s not staying longer.

Afterwards, Kyung-Hye either meets Il-Hwan or they were already in the same friend groups and know each other. They end up dating and he doesn’t care that she’s already pregnant. He’s smitten with her and wants to try and make things work. And later, when they’re sure that they’re going to stay together, he adopts Jin-Woo as his son.

On the other end of this, we have Ashborn who has no idea he has a son. And probably doesn’t figure it out until toddler Jin-Woo accidentally ends up in the shadow realm, to the astonishment of everyone there. Not only did not they not realize Ashborn could have kids, especially with a different species, but they had no idea his powers could be passed on! (That, he actually finds a bit troubling. If the other Monarchs could do the same thing, there’s no telling how their army would increase.)

He can’t have baby Jin-Woo showing up in the shadow realm all the time, so he reluctantly seals his powers, thinking that he’ll train Jin-Woo when he’s an adult. But then the war with the Monarchs happens on Earth and he gets caught up with that. We know the time loop is a ten year limit, so it probably doesn’t start until Jin-Woo is fourteen. Ashborn doesn’t quite forget that he has a son, not when he has some of his summons guarding him, but it doesn’t occur to him to unseal Jin-Woo’s powers to fight in the war.

Then the last loop happens and the Rulers enact their plan to give humans magic. Perhaps the seal on Jin-Woo’s true powers could be why he only awakens as an E-rank Hunter. But his awakening could have loosened the seal on him, so that he catches glimpses of the summons in his shadows.

He thinks he should be more freaked out by this, but it feels like they’ve always been there and he just didn’t notice before. Like he’s seeing an old childhood friend.

I imagine there’d be a major canon divergence from here, as I don’t think the summons would stand by as Jin-Woo risks his life for four years as an E-rank. Maybe they’d finally come out of the shadow and talk to Jin-Woo, maybe they’d contact Ashborn first and be like ‘hey, your kid’s about to do something reckless!’

There’s different ways it could go from here, from Ashborn contacting him directly, to unlocking his powers, to assigning specific summons to help him fight. Maybe a bit of a combination.

Ashborn may not want to unlock Jin-Woo’s full power all at once in case it strains his mostly human body. After all, if he had grown up with the power, it may have grown with him, but he’s not sure how it’ll affect him now.

Maybe he’ll have a similar thought to canon and consult with the Architect for advice. He suitably threatens the Architect not to share the information about his son with anyone else and then they get to work, creating something similar to the system. But maybe instead of quests and instant dungeons, its main purpose is just to control the flow of his mana and slowly make him strong. Plus, the inventory system maybe, with Ashborn dropping healing potions into it every time Jin-Woo gets injured.

In addition, Ashborn could assign a couple of soldiers to act as his summons. Not too strong so they don’t stand out while Jin-Woo is an E-rank, but strong enough to protect him in E and D rank dungeons. He’ll have a hard time hiding the fact that he’s getting stronger from everyone, though, so maybe he eventually has a conversation with Chairman Go Gun-Hee.

Not sure how that would go, but just consulting with the Chairman, both of them trying to puzzle through why he’s different than other Hunters. Maybe they get even closer than canon, developing a grandfather-grandson bond. It would be good for Jin-Woo to have someone to talk to about his stress of suddenly having to raise his sister on his own, worrying about whether his mother will ever wake up.

Ashborn would want to help with that, but maybe he doesn’t know right away how to wake someone up from Eternal Slumber. How do you use mana to cure someone of a condition caused by too much mana?

There’s also the fact that Ashborn could be communicating with Jin-Woo through the system, maybe explain why the gates and monsters are happening. It’d be both a relief and terrifying to know that these gates are meant to help them because a larger war is happening. As for why Ashborn is contacting Jin-Woo, I don’t think he’d reveal that Jin-Woo is his son just yet. He might be worried about shocking him with too much information, but instead he’d say that Jin-Woo is uniquely suited to this type of mana, so he’s trying to help too, and created the system to help regulate the mana.

Perhaps one of the biggest changes that would result is that Ashborn would be sticking around. He’s got a son to look after, someone immortal like him, so he’s not alone. He won’t feel quite as much of the oppressing despair that made him want to go to sleep and never wake up. Which, all in all, means that Jin-Woo will actually have someone to help him fight the Monarchs in the end. Neither of them has to be alone anymore.

Jin-Woo would end up having a mentor in magic too. Someone who could teach him how mana works, how to create things from it, and what skills are available. In canon, after Jin-Woo had access to all of Ashborn’s mana, he was basically left to learn everything by trial and error. I think he would like having a mentor/father-figure, especially one to share his eternity with. And they’d probably offer to extend the lives of Jin-Woo’s family too.

It would just all around be a happier au. Maybe Ashborn would get together with Kyung-Hye and Il-Hwan too. Since in this au, he had already had a fling with Kyung-Hye, there might be some lingering attraction there and if that attraction ends up extending to Il-Hwan...well, eternity is a long time, so feelings could develop.

(I think this is a good stopping point, so I’m going to end it here. It took me a while to get this done, but I have been working on the asks people send. It’s just in general, writer’s block, and I tend to focus on my fanfics when I do have the energy to write. And I recently started a new job, so that’s been an adjustment. But I haven’t completely given up on this blog, it’s just lower on the priority list (but still on the list). Thank you guys for your patience.)

5 times that Sung Jinwoo misused the latest internet slangs in an attempt to sound "cool" and "up to date" because Jinah told him LIES about how to actually use the latest slangs... and he did that right in front of the press.

But instead of a million articles of the media (and public) laughing at Sung Jinwoo's mistake, they instead interpret his words to mean something very very different.

Example: Sung Jinah told Sung Jinwoo that LOL meant "lose one's legs" after Sung Jinwoo told her that he nearly lost his leg in a gate. So in an interview, when Sung Jinwoo was asked what was the most defining moment in his life, he replied "When I nearly LOL'ed in the Red Gate."

Walking into Yatora's room was hectic. Oil paints and paint brushes were thrown about the floor, along with many different canvases and any other tools he could use for painting. Previous things he's also drawn and painted are thrown about as well, and you can't help but wonder how they're still in good condition. His mother had called you to come knock some sense into her son, telling you how he's been up for hours every night working on new projects. She figured that since you're his, oh so loving boyfriend that you'd be able to convince him to get a good night's rest.

Little did she know that hearing your boyfriend was overworking himself again, put you in a more of a lecturing mood. Considering the fact that you've both had this conversation at least a million times due to him over studying. So when you saw him sitting on the floor, a pencil in hand with an sketch book laying on his lap, you couldn't help but sigh, even if a small smile found its way onto your lips. He didn't even acknowledge you as you entered the room, his mind to focused on the new project he was starting.

It was when he picked up the fresh cup of coffee that you made your presence known, "Yatora." Poor boy nearly dropped his mug when you said his name, it was rare, something you only did when you were about to give him an earful. "Oh, hey [Y/n]-" He chuckled nervously as you looked down at him, "Your mother ratted you out, and I'll be taking this." Before he could even protest you took the coffee from his hands, and luckily it looked as if it was just made. "You know damn well you'll be puking this shit up in the next hour or two, and I get you do it for the sugar high, but you need rest."

He knew you were right, but he really didn't want to stop working on this new project, "Let me finish this first, please?" You wanted to tell him no, but he looked so happy when doing it, and those damn puppy eyes always made you weak. So with a reluctant sigh you lightly kicked his thigh, "Make some room" Yatora smiled brightly at that, moving forward so you could sit behind him and hug his waist as you usually did. It was then that he realized you two haven't had much, if any time together. His schedule before already made it a bit difficult to spend time together, but now that art is added to the mix, your time together seemed nonexistent.

So without thinking, he leaned back against your chest, letting your comforting warmth engulf him. The built up stress that he didn't even realize was there, slowly faded away, letting out a quiet hum when you pressed a gentle kiss beneath his ear. He nearly forgot how nice it felt to be in your embrace, wanting nothing more than this moment to last. Though, you couldn't help but notice how his eye lids slowly began to droop shut. His head now laying back against your shoulder as he turned his face towards you, and you couldn't help but smile as you both leaned in for a quick, but soft kiss that left him with a somewhat dopy smile.

"I love you" Was the last thing he said before dozing off, the pencil in his hand softly falling to the floor as you kissed his head. Carefully moving the sketch book to the floor you lifted him up and put him in bed, taking off your coat before laying next to him and gently holding his waist as he cuddled into your side.

"G'night handsome, I love you too."

I’ve been thinking that for Shigaraki’s purposes, Katsuki is Izuku’s weakness because he is the one person who causes Izuku to act selfishly and without reason, like Orpheus looking back at Eurydice. If anyone else were in danger, Izuku’s response would be heroic. He would be able to think rationally enough to realize he could sacrifice himself, and his death would keep One for All out of Shigaraki’s hands and keep his friends alive. But Izuku is possessive of Katsuki. All thoughts will be gone from his mind and replaced with a primal, nameless need. That instinct will present him with a false dichotomy between having Katsuki and having and One for All. And he will choose Katsuki, damn the consequences.

"I did, but I finished it already --" Why should I tell him I snuck part of my work into his pile?

He added, "Then assist me with mine so we can finish it faster."

"Hmph, no thanks, it's dull," I muttered, my gaze falling on his plump lips, I then smirked.

"Then get out of my office right now," Cassy warned.

I pushed his stack of papers off his desk cautiously, looking for any signs of rage on his cute face. I sat on his lap, my head resting on his chest.

"Please, for your cute lovable boyfriend stop working," I pleaded, kissing his cheek.

"You are lucky I love you, Jules."

"I'm not sure about that," I said making a funny face.
