The woman says "Ridiculous..."
If you want to spread it elsewhere, here's the official link
[Video Description: An ad with piano music over it all, showing an elderly woman in her home, knitting, when two younger men walk by her window, which catches her attention. She stares out her window at them as they kiss each other while walking, the old lady staring in disbelief. Cut to the old woman approaching a residence with a broom in hand, staring up at the second floor window where a small rainbow Pride flag is hanging. The old woman stares up at it and mutters "Ridiculo", before getting up on a ladder with her broom to remove the flag. Focus on the flag fluttering to the ground as church bells chime. The scene then cuts to the couple from before, approaching their home with grocery bags in hand before one stops and stares at the second floor, stopping his partner who then drops the groceries as he too stares up. It's then revealed that the small pride flag had been replaced with a gigantic, hand-knit pride flag. It then cuts back to the old woman's home, where a tin of rainbow-colored yarn sits on her table. The hands of the old woman are holding and fondly touching an old black and white photo of two young smiling women, leaning against each other. Cut to the old woman's face as she stares out with a look of happy pride on her face. At the end of the video, the name "Idealista" appears on screen, followed by "buon pride" along with a rainbow. End VD.]
One correction:
The old lady is not in her home. She is at work. She's meant to be what in Italian is called "la portinaia", aka a cross between a doorwoman and cleaner of a residential building. She's in her small "office" space, at the entrance of the building, from where she can survey the coming and goings of the inhabitants. It's a job that has mostly disappeared, but is culturally very clear to us as having the connotation of "potentially gossipy, one-million-percent judgmental woman who sees everything that goes on in the apartment complex, knows everyone and their secrets, and has Strong Opinions™️".
In this case, thankfully, the Strong Opinion™️ is that those two men are ridiculous with their teeny tiny flag for ants.
More from the amazing photo shoot where Istvan actually survived 🖤

I like how I scrolled, saw this photoset, went "Oh, wow, that's a FANTASTIC Istvan Toth cosplayer he looks perfect--" And then double-taked because I realized that is literally the actual actor who played him in the costume. The Kingdom Come Deliverance cast is another level, I swear. Also props to all the people involved in the costumes/props in this shoot. What is with the incredible artisans in this particular fandom...

ProCube
i've officially been online for way too long. because last night i had a dream about a 20 year old fandom overview for a comic that never actually existed:
It was YouTube retrospective of this supposed comic in the early 2000s, and the YouTube was like "so bet you are all wondering why people are posting 'we did it!" On post it notes today...."
And you find out its this comic by this reclusive French American guy who started it as just a series of post it note sketches made from little life drawing studies he used to do when walking home from work. He'd apparently take the ones he liked and make little one or two panel stories with them
The comic itself was just called Pro Cube, which was just the brand of the post it notes (also not a real brand of post it notes, thanks brain).
And it started out as this largely plot less little slice of life thing usually depicting general cute nerdy things or people doing funny nerdy things. But as he improved he'd start creating regular characters and little storyline for them.
The artist got incredibly creative with the post it note format. Like occasionally using them as windows or setting them next to each other to show parallels between characters or making characters argue like they're individual panels. big drama happened in fandom when he did stuff like, switch to artists pens instead of ballpoint, and at one juncture people got into a heated debate as they speculated whether or not he'd done something audacious like CHANGE THE SIZE OF THE POST ITS HE WAS DRAWING ON!!!
And he eventually had two main characters. Ed and Justine. They lived largely separate but parallel lives. At first it seemed like it was a manic pixie dream girl story where Justine was sort of Ed's muse in that he tended to see her aeound town and imagine all these fantastical stories for her since she just seemed like such a strong proud person. But her comics were actually about her insecurities and her crush on her best friend, which over time progressed into a full blown relationship which did in fact include a bit of light erotica because artist still loved boobs (he WAS French) but there was still more real human slice of life stuff with tits.
Ed meanwhile had a buddy who was in a lot of his comics and usually it was typical nerdy bro humor but over time that started getting more whimsical and thoughtful. Talking like post-it sequences of Ed watching the dude sleep in the window. Deep conversations while walking along the beach. These two also eventually moved in together. It did not help the chemistry.
Ed and his bro roommate...god his name was something incredibly French like Jean Baptiste but I can't remember it now. They had an insanely huge following of slash fans because of course they did
And those fans starter getting tin hatty because they were like. Viktor and Jayce levels of chemistry and so there was heated debate on whether or not we were supposed to read into it or not. With the dude nerd fans being bro you must be new lol they talk about hooking up with girls all the time!!! (In the early comic)
Well. Apparently (and again, all of this is being related by a Youtuber) in the last year of the comic there'd been a huge shift as Justine and Ed suddenly directly became friends by chance when they found themselves meeting in a community art class.
And the dude bro fans thought thus meant they'd finally hook up despite the fact Justine had been with her girlfriend for years at this point. the queer side of the fandom was terrified their much invested established lesbians were about to enter into a tripped on a dick situation....
(This included lame fan takes like "well I always got a more fwb vibe from Justine and Annette anyway..." "THEY BOUGHT A HOUSE TOGETHER.")
But, no. That is not what happened. It turned out to be Ed having a gay awakening after having a lovely post it back and forth with Justine. Coming over to see his bestie, and asking if he could kiss him. And yes. Bestie was like o.o yes?!?!?! And it was the most beautiful kiss to ever be boarded on goddamn post it notes
And the fandom lost its goddamn mind
So that was what my dream was about. Watching a 2 hour YouTube video profiling this 20 year old comic that never existed
There were also funny details asides like everyone was constantly asking to buy the original post its and the artist (who never posted much beyond very short sentences) would say "sure" and quote some astronomically absurd number and it was the most French bitch thing
Only for you to find out he'd just give the post its away to fans he liked at cons in Canada
Anyway the fans of the ship started posting shit on social media like "we did it!" And "love is love!!" And "EJ nation is real!!!" On post its To dunk on the homophobic deniers. Anyway thats the time my dreams created a whole fake long running media project that never happened.
I just woke up mad this French New Wave ballpoint pen comic from the early 2000s isn't actually real.
Now I'm logging the fuck off.

don’t abandon joy because it is brief. don’t commit to solitude because happiness is fleeting. it’s okay that good things do not last forever. it’s okay to simply enjoy a thing for as long as you have it.

Sooo who wants some extreme nerdery?
I am obsessed with solar sailing. So obsessed that I wrote three books about it. So obsessed that they invited me to Trek Long Island to talk about it there.
And, after much effort, I have managed to put all the basics of that knowledge into a single post you can read.
At Trek Long Island, I gave a presentation on solar sailing. Here is the same material in written format.
Not enough fiction uses it, and maybe that's because it's hard to gather enough information about it. It would make me very happy if anybody took this guide and was inspired to write, draw, or design something.
Yesterday I told a guy I was ace/aro and he asked what “aro” meant, so I told him, and he responded, “Oh, I thought it might be like A-E-R-O and I was confused.”
Yes. I am asexual/aerodynamic. At the slightest hint of sex or romance I launch myself into the air and land several miles away.
Happy 10th birthday to the most popular post I’ve ever made. I have learned about so many aroace characters with the ability to fly from this post and I love that.
