Representation is so important and honestly I love seeing people gush when they see great representation, so I'm gonna do the same.
This is Sechs, he's from the Battle Angel Alita manga. He's a clone of the protagonist Alita who hungers to be more than just a copy, he wants nothing more than to be a warrior and to find himself. And a big part of that is getting a new body. Naturally, because he was a clone of Alita, he was created as a female.
However, Sechs never sees himself as a woman. From the beginning as we know him, he uses masculine pronouns to refer to himself. It's very clear that he doesn't see himself as being a woman, not like the other female doubles of Alita. Once he meets her, he ends up getting the freedom to explore himself, and even the opportunity to get a new body. Being given this opportunity, he himself chooses a new male body, one that suits him more.
Sechs wants nothing more than to be a warrior, and importantly, to be himself. That means learning from others to what being a true warrior is. That's why, as a trans man, his story is so impactful. Watching him grow into who he's always wanted to be was so moving when I read it for the first time. He grows from wanting to be more than Alita, and instead, into who he wants to be. That he's more than the sum of his parts. He wants to show everyone that he exists, and who he is, is important.
In short, I love Sechs. He means the world to me and is such an important character to me. He makes me feel seen when so often you don't seem to see trans male characters in media.
