Jae was more than a little eager to find himself back in Moonās presence again. Heād found her to be comforting, a great conversationalist, and maybe, just maybe, the center of some interestingĀ thoughts. Which most of the time the young chef could keep in check no problem. Above all else, Jae simply enjoyed her company and the time he got to intimately see how her mind worked. If he could get her to laugh in the process than that was even better!Ā
Seems that day they were both in need of a bit of a break from the agitations of business, and what better way to shake the day off, then to hang out with a like-minded individual? Jae gave himself a quick once over before exiting his car and making his way up to the cafe door. He wasn't too dressed up. Just enough to impress any higher-ups at the meeting, but also comfortable enough that he could find himself at a bar if the day called for it. Today, he'd be ending his day with coffee and Moon. A perfect combo. Better than any frosty mug of beer in his book.Ā
Jae made a short trip of finding himself behind the cafe door and knocked to be let in for extra measure. He could see her pretty red hair through the glass. His smile was tugging at his lips before he could stop it in its tracks.Ā

For some reason the dumb locks seemed to take longer to open and for the first time Moon cursed their apparent complexity until the final one came undone. It was then that she looked up at the man on the other side of the glass and just then that she caught his smile. It made her pause for a minute before she could grip the handle and pull open the door.
Uncharacteristically, Moon was a little stuck. She didn't have a clue why this particular moment and this particular meeting were causing it but sure enough, the woman was briefly silent. Instead her eyes kept on him, in that split second she suddenly and very visibly shook her head. "Um, hey sorry come on in..." She drifted off and turned to begin locking up once again. This gave her the opportunity to silently curse herself and try to gain the composure she apparently needed. After a deep breath she turned around, and yes, of course he was still there. Of course he looked good.
Losing her sanity for a moment, Moon was certain if he looked at her in just the right away or stepped closer even by an inch, she'd have to blame being cooped up in her office for her next move.
Moon had expected to be locked up alone in her office for the entire night and the idea didn't bother her. In fact, this was how the owner spent most evenings when she wasn't out meeting with business partners or potential ones. Everything revolved around her cafes and play could wait. While the books in Japan were left in professional hands, Korea was a different story. It was all up to her and she was finally fuck up free after years of practice.
The offer she extended to Jae was impromptu but she'd had him on her mind anyway (though in a potentially inappropriate way). He was nice to look at and nice company in more than conversation but also contemplative silence. She wasn't sure if she looked fit for company, her hand going over her face in number crunching frustration more than once could have left a mess but a quick glance in the mirror told her otherwise.
It wasn't long before her phone chimed and soft butterflies rose while Moon smoothed out her skirt, giving a tug to her sweater and heading towards the door. She could see only his silouette until she was closer, and then closer, now turning the locks with red hair guarding her face as she nipped at her bottom lip.

scrmbledeggsā:
Jae had wiggled out of work thirty minutes earlier than schedule that evening. Which was a miracle in itself and a rarity for the young chef. While some would scream nepotism, and theyād be a quarter correct in their thinking, Jae was just damn good at his job. (and had sense enough pull in a favor when the time was just right) He had hurried home to knock the smell of the evening special off his skin and pull on an outfit that he deemed worthy of Moonās attention. They were headed for Thai. The restaurant was no five-star establishment, but it was good enough in his books. The kind of place that clientele made the atmosphere, or so he had heard. After checking to see that there were no stray wrinkles in his forest green button down andĀ that his dark wash jeans fit right, Jae was out the door in slipping inside his cab.Ā Moon had him curious with talks of codes and alcohol, and he wondered how much truth sheād be able to pull to the surface. He was by no means a lightweight, but alcohol and good company had a habit of dropping his guard. Tonight could take many turns, the chef thought. Heād hoped they were good ones.Ā The black cab had been just approaching the curb when his phone alerted him of Moonās arrival. Three minutes prior. (stupid technology) Jae wondered if she were just as excited as he was? It was with a warm smile that he exited the vehicle and made a short time of meeting her inside.Ā āHey,ā His smile still in place,Ā āIām glad you could make it out.āĀ
She wasnāt waiting long but if sheād been made to wait any longer Moon would start to question the situation.Ā Really that was the businesswoman in her and this wasnāt exactly a business meeting.Ā Wait - that thought was enough to bring eyes up from her phone with a question. What was this exactly?Ā This wasnāt about food for her cafe at all, this was about trying out food together at place he thought to bring her. Moon had been so caught up in the banter of their conversation that she hadnāt considered if this was a meeting between business people, friends or something else she didnāt know about yet?Ā Suddenly she felt a little self-conscious and more than ready for alcohol.
When the taxi arrived Moon could see it through the glass doorway and she smiled in response to his own, appreciating the warmth just as much as the view of him walking towards her.Ā It was just then that a member of staff kindly took her jacket as he spoke and revealed the dress that was no big deal at work but suddenly Moon was very aware of.Ā Ā āThanks for inviting me.Ā Did you come straight from the restaurant?āĀ She only asked because he wasnāt much different from her in this way; dedicated to their work.Ā Ā āThe table is ready for us but I wanted to wait for you here,ā she noted as the waiter guided them to a quiet spot by the window.
When they took their seats Moon placed her bag on a small ledge by her seat and took some time to look around the restaurant.Ā Ā āIām liking the look of the place, what about you?āĀ She was mostly curious about his reactions to things like that.Ā She had her opinions but she always had a very particular taste and knew she wasnāt the best judge; she wanted to be blown away and inspired at all times. āIāll have a glass of white wine but nothing dry.ā She informed the waiter before he turned to take Jaeās drink over.Ā So it begins.
Code for code. Was that really wise? They were playing off each other but Moon could probably take the blame for the present promise of a reveal.Ā Normally the woman with her fiery red hair kept herself in check and was unmoved by the idea of straying from professionalism.Ā It was a rule made at her beginnings but for some unknown reason this fledgling chef was causing her to crack.Ā Sheād been around handsome men, even ones close to having statues erected in their godly honor but even when she was faced with gifts and proposition; Moon wouldnāt budge. So what the fuck was this?!
The question wouldnāt leave her mind the entire time she spent freshening up. She had worked all day and her current attire seemed fitting enough for their evening.Ā It was possible she was overdressed but Moon couldnāt care less and the pair werenāt at the level to witness a dressed down business woman so this would do nicely.Ā With a final tug through her bright strands, she slid on a long blue coat and slipped into the taxi (a requirement when drinks were waiting).
Moon knew the neighborhood.Ā She knew the owner of this restaurant and that club and could even parrot some drama told to her about scattered family owned businesses in the area.Ā She didnāt do much to hear and to know but instead made herself a place that allowed her to keep pulse on the community.Ā Or more like, pulse on opportunity.Ā That was partly how she found out more about Jaehwan after their first meeting but that wasnāt worth mentioning.Ā Slowly the vehicle came to a stop which prompted soft anticipation as she left the taxi and relocated into the restaurant, sending a text to her food bro and waiting patiently for him to appear.
