California becomes the first state to ban racial discrimination against hair

On wensday the govner of California gavin Newsome signed a bill into law that would protect citizens agianst racial discrimantion based on natural hair.

The Creating a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural hair Act, or CROWN Act, updates the states anti discrimantion act so that the term race and traits historically associated with race are protected.

"Workplace dress code and grooming policies that prohibit natural hair, including afros, braids, twists, and locks, have a disparate impact on Black individuals as these policies are more likely to deter Black applicants and burden or punish Black employees than any other group," a text piece from the bill.

America's first drag queen politician plans to run for congress

In May 2018 Maebe A Girl became the first drag queen to be elected into public office in California. The performer became the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council representative of Region 5.

Now the trans/genderfluid performer has announced that she will be running for congress her plate form will be based off of

1) Protecting minorities, immigrants, women and the environment;

2) Advocate for diversity, inclusion and representation to reflect the entire community;

3) to legislate for progressive action.

Her statement for why she is running:

"I'm running because representation matters. California’s 28th District has a diverse demographic and as such requires a representative that can relate to the oppression experienced by so many of its constituents. In a political climate where so many people’s civil liberties are at risk, I want to be on the front lines fighting for them.”

I have a concept for a hidden camera show: where I meet with studio executives and pitch them ideas for shows and secretly film their reactions.

Twist, every show I’d pitch would actually be the general outline of a classic (and successful) show, but with a genderbent cast. My main goal is to see if they’d call it “unrealistic” when it has a female main character.

Double points if they call the MC a “Mary Sue!”

“Concept A: She possesses a genius intellect. She completed high school at the age of nine, graduated from Princeton University at age 10, and finished medical school four years later, at age 14. The series opens up on her 16th birthday. She’s the countries youngest doctor.”

Too unrealistic Such a Mary Sue.

“That’s the concept of Doogie Howser, M.D. It ran from 1989 to 1993 and launched the career of Neil Patrick Harris.”

“Concept B: A series revolving around three women and their one male friend. He’s straight and doesn’t date any of them by the way, he’s just a friend. They mostly just hang out and do things normal people would do. Nothing sexed up or exaggerated about it. Really, it’s a show about nothing, many of its episodes are just about the minutiae of daily life.”

Too unrealistic Too boring, no one would watch it without sex appeal.

“That’s the concept of Seinfeld. It ran from 1989 to 1998 and is considered one of the most successful shows of all time.”

“Concept C: She’s a doctor, a medical genius. She’s an unconventional, antisocial woman, a little rough who, despite her dependence on pain medication manages to successfully lead a team of doctors in solving all kinds of baffling cases.”

Too unrealistic, too unlikable a character.

“That was House, M.D. It ran from 2004 to 2012”

“Concept D: The show chronicles the events of Mother, a reporter, who enlists her sister-in-law, a musician, and her best friend (another woman) who’s a stand -up comedian, to help raise her three sons in San Francisco.”

No male influence on these boys at all? Too unrealistic. Conservative America won’t stand for it.

“That was Full House. It ran 192 episodes from 1987 to 1995.”
