Tags: Reupload from my last blog! For kurotsuchiweek2026, Maggots Nest. PTSD without calling it PTSD.
It wasn't often that Mayuri mulled on his past, or let it get to him. Not on the surface. Not where prying eyes could see. The date of his release from that place, the Nest, was approaching. The thought made his skin itch. As much as he'd despised working for Urahara, he despised the Nest more.
These thoughts, ugly wiggling worms, squirmed through his brain as he trudged into the house he shared with you. The blessing, though he never said it out loud, that was you. His partner, his darling pet, the one thing that hardly ever disappointed him. He showered off his paint, scrubbed off the day, dressed, and sought you out. The smell of your cooking tickled his nose as he entered the kitchen.
When you looked at him, the distraction in his eyes was obvious. No one could read the mystery that was Mayuri Kurotsuchi like you could. The empathy he'd been annoyed with at first was the same thing that eventually won him over. You smiled, soft, knowing. Served dinner quietly.
Blessed quiet. Mayuri wasn't entirely sure how you could read him so well (witchcraft or womanly intuition or some such nonsense, perhaps) but he appreciated it. Appreciated you.
The two of you ate in silence, Mayuri's troubled thoughts nibbling through his head. You watched him carefully. Cleared the table but abandoned the dishes.
"Let's go to bed, master Mayuri." You murmured, watching his eyes.
He tsked. "You know I have work to do. A report to finish on-"
You cut him off, taking his hand. "Just this once. Work can wait, just one time. Please?"
Golden eyes narrowed, Mayuri held his tongue. Relented as you pulled him to the bedroom you shared.
You crawled into bed and held the blanket up, inviting him into the warmth. Mayuri followed, settled with an arm around your middle. Closed his eyes when you turned and pressed your back against him, flush to his body. He squeezed you gently. Your body heat seeped into him, straight to the bone. He lay still as a statue, listening to your breathing. Feeling the life of you under the hand he held against your stomach.
You fell asleep first, and after what seemed like hours, Mayuri succumbed as well.
Sleep felt short lived. Shadows plagued his dreams, icy steel around his ankle, walls closing in, leering darkness. A cold that struck him to his core. His face may have been collected but his insides were twisting. Idle hands but a brain that never stopped, couldn't stop, couldn't-
Mayuri woke with a jolt. Sweat made strands of his hair stick to his forehead. He must have made a sound in his sleep. You were stirring against him, turning in his arms, eyes fluttering open.
"Mayuri...?" Sleep made your tongue heavy but the concern was right there. You looked up at him.
The sight of the softness in your eyes made his chest tighten. "I'm fine." A lie.
"No you aren't." You mumbled softly back. "Tell me? Please?"
Mayuri sucked in a breath, clenched his jaw. He had told you he'd spent time in the Maggots Nest, but never about these thoughts. He'd always put on an air of nonchalance. His past was his business, his burden, his curse. But now there was you.
"The Nest." He finally uttered.
"Oh, Mayuri." You shifted in the bed, adjusted yourself so you could pull his head to your chest.
Mayuri wasn't going to fight this. Wasn't going to fight your warmth or the grounding sound of your heart beating under his ear port. He sagged against you, and you stroked his hair, rubbed his back.
"Do you want to tell me about it?" You asked, voice tender and quiet.
"No. Not yet. Not now." Mayuri answered. "Someday. Perhaps."
You hummed softly, palm running up and down Mayuri's back until he relaxed completely, his arm locked around you. You held him until he was asleep. His answer was enough for you.

Mayuri was becoming increasingly frustrated. You could tell by the huffs, the aggressive typing, even the way he clicked his mouse. You were flitting about one of the bookshelves, but from the corner of your eye, you watched Mayuri. His mouth was turned down in a scowl. An eyebrow twitched.
Mentally, you started counting down from ten. When you hit three, his slammed his hands on the desk and slumped back in his chair, rubbing his temples.
"Pet. Here. Now." He snapped.
"Yes, master Mayuri."
You padded to him, watching as he removed his headdress and chin ornament. As soon as you were close enough, he snatched you by the waist and buried his face between your breasts. His breaths were coming in short, angry puffs. He growled softly, the sound muffled by fabric and flesh.
"Morons. Simpletons! I'm surrounded by incompetence!" Mayuri hissed, "I should make them carry around little bonsai's to help replace the oxygen they waste!"
You bit your lip to keep from smiling, gentle fingers working his shoulders. "I know, master."
"How hard is it to locate and replace my surveillance bugs!? The damn things have trackers! How stupid are these people?" Mayuri continued his tirade, directly into the valley between your breasts.
You worked your way up to his neck, gently massaging the tense muscles. "You're going to give yourself a migraine."
"Don't tell me what I already know." He mumbled back, sounding almost petulant. A sigh passed his lips and he finally started to relax. "I just need to rest my eyes before those nimrods make them explode."
You hummed softly, running your fingers into his hair and gingerly scratching his scalp. "Is this helping, master?"
Mayuri relented, nodding against your chest. "... Yes. You and your delightful breasts hardly ever disappoint me."
A giggle bubbled up your throat, soft and sweet. "I'm glad, master Mayuri."
Mayuri groaned softly, kneading your lower back like a content cat. He was unwinding, the tension slowly leaving him. Breaths calming and body beginning to melt under your touch. He reached up and unscrewed the cones covering his ear ports, tossing them onto the desk.
That was a first. Your eyebrows quirked up a touch. Mayuri never removed those unless the two of you were at home. You stared down at him, perplexed. Watched as he turned his head like he was listening to your heart. His eyes were closed, and you smiled.
Mayuri nosed softly at your breast, cheek pressed against your chest. "You and your breasts really are the least disappointing thing about my daily life." He muttered. "I should take a density test and make a pillow for myself that's the exact firmness of them. Yes."
Mayuri really was an incredible man. You kept stroking his hair and scratching his scalp. "Whatever makes you happy, master Mayuri."
He hummed, the sound reverberating through your chest. A ping from his computer made him open his eyes. He snorted softly and let his eyes close again. "Whatever it is, it can wait. I'm busy."
You smiled at that. "Busy resting your eyes?"
"Exactly."
You smiled. Your master could stay this way for as long as he liked.
