It was as if the ancient magic in side of the vampire knew it was being spoken of. The force of it swelled- not nearly enough to be a threat- and then lessened again. It did it again, like slow heartbeats, but quieter and then quieter, until once more Magnus could only just feel the oddness of it.
For Hope.
That wasn’t surprising in the least. Of course Elijah would sit calmly with a piece of a very powerful and ancient magic inside of him… for Hope. But even with his resolution Elijah looked tired. And Magnus began to think perhaps the topic should be left for a different day. The answer he needed had mostly been given. The magic was clearly contained. And if he was concerned with Elijah taking care of himself then it seemed best Magnus help him by bringing up lighter things.
”Perhaps I do,” he murmured, drinking from his glass. “I do have some idea of how wicked you can be though,” he pointed out. “Perhaps we can find a way to distract from all these worries. Remind you that you are alive and well? I do know how you love a trip to Pandemonium. But maybe that’s too much for tonight?”
Elijah has no wish to speak of it, no wish to even be around another, but if he was to be alone he wanted to be alone with Magnus. Challenging the very definition of alone and it certainly brought questions to his mindset. In truth, he was unsure if he was ready to be completely alone.
“Yes, I suppose you do.” Elijah rarely hid behind anything when in the presence of Magnus. He never bothered to be something he wasn’t, unlike with Hayley. He did make attempts to live up to the man she saw him as. That had not worked out, given the judgment cast upon him. If the man to his side did pass judgment he did not make it known, or at the very least, not as seriously.
Hayley was not one he wished to think of.
He finished the rest of his drink, standing to set the glass on the table, a turn so he could see Magnus. “Let us go.” He didn’t smile, not that the absence of was entirely uncommon. At least Pandemonium would provide with noise, something he needed in order to not allow the thoughts of his fate and recent events cloud his thoughts. His mind needed to cease, even if it was only for a few hours. “I promise to not eat any of the patrons, or at least I will make attempts.” A joke delivered as serious as ever.
