Oh, all the beautiful & breakable things we hold together using nothing but love.

In February, when this piece happened, a random pumpkin vine appeared in my back yard. Within a week, it took over a good portion of the grass, growing huger and huger every day. When I think of that particular month, I think of steady rain, the dogs playing catch in the pumpkin vine and rolling around in glee, and I think of my husband stretching huge rolls of watercolor paper over plywood so that I could paint as large as I want to. I think of the way love is most powerful when it manifests in the littlest things. This painting will always shake me to my core with love and gratitude for the gloriously brief and blinding moments we are sometimes blessed with, in this life.

This piece is currently on display at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts, San Fernando.
