You are a shadow organization whose goal is to dominate the world by waging war. Not by yourself, but making others fight. Place silos, factories and workshops on the ground and watch them fight endlessly till death. Your job is to keep the war going, if any side wins you get exposed. Sounds like a conspiracy theorist's wet dream come true? It gets even better. Watch an incessant array of soldiers and tanks batter each other while you carry airstrikes to even the field out.
The game is easy to pick up, but hard to master. You get to move after every 5 seconds, where you can get to place a helipad, factory, barracks or turret on either side of the board. Helipads produce helicopters, factories produce tanks and barracks produce soldiers. Turrets provide static defence. Additionally there are numerous power ups and boosts- bonus damage, defence and production. Finally an occasional air strike clears the whole field out. Both sides have a ‘Nexus’ like missile silo which must be protected all times. Imagine a game of reverse DoTA where your objective is to prevent either side from pushing. As the conflict escalates the Threat meter rises. When the bar becomes full your objective is reached - mutually assured destruction. Both the sides will now unleash their nukes and your evil dream will finally come true.
There are many nuances to the game, like the mechanics of the "minions". Tanks are the slowest and mow down the soldiers. Helicopters are the most agile and a bane for tanks. Soldiers move with medium speed and counter the helicopters. The point turrets are a formidable line of defence. Watch out for the placement of missiles in start. The position of the nukes change with every game. A diagonal placement means a longer battlefield, and missiles placed face to face means a smaller war ground. The power ups must be used carefully as they can turn a side into an overpowered juggernaut. Finally, an air strike can pulverise an entire wave or a complete production line potentially tipping off the balance to defeat. All choices and decisions must be quickly made or you are exposed!
The game was designed and developed by Josh Sutphin with an original soundtrack by John Axon. It was awarded 1st place in Ludum Dare 18, themed "Enemies as Weapons". This game is hardly 20MB in size and completely free to play. Happy warmongering!
