You're Just Mad The TV Show is Making Changes!

No I'm mad the show keeps resetting everything to zero. Fallout 2 has massive changes occur between the end of Fallout 1 and the start of that game.

Fallout 2 is the best game in the series.

Fallout the TV Show and the bethesda Fallout games are obsessed with the Wasteland just being a violent shitheap where nothing gets better. Ironically its not making enough changes.

Because when asked the question of "What happens next" the chucklenuts in charge of the show went "Nothing. Everything is shit and will continue to be shit. Eat your slop consoomer."

Rethinking this and i wanna add that i do think bethesda's writers are competent and they knew what they were doing and what imagery they were invoking (one of the main factions being called the railroad says as much) but because bethesda's main design philosophy is that the player is always right and videogames are a fun little amusement park the writing never really commits to anything. For example, I think it's very interesting that they decided to push the BoS towards fascism (the FO4 BoS being a discount Enclave was a brilliant move) but because they never want the player to be even a little bit wrong, they never follow through on anything, it's all "wweeeeeeeeeeeeellll, there's goods and bads to every faction!!" so it ends up saying nothing at all, and saying nothing at all when it comes to these topics just looks like you're endorsing them

I have come to think that the most catastrophic of the game's many, MANY missed opportunities is Piper's interview. If I were in Piper's shoes, and someone who fought in the war that destroyed the world approached me for an interview, I might have exploded at them. How could they let this happen?! How could they have been so comfortable in such a corrupted world?! How dare they walk in here and wax eloquent about their role in the events that condemned me and my sister to a life of poverty two centuries before we were even born?! I feel that Piper's interview should have been extremely uncomfortable for the protagonist to sit through, a furious, heartbroken demand for accountability.

I've said it before in other places but Bethesda does not understand Fallout. Nate was a special ops soldier in a fascist regime. Nora was a prosecutor in a fascist regime. She probably sent people to fucking Big MT for being communists.

Does the game ever interrogate this? No. Instead you wax nostalgic about Baseball.

Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas all show that trying to rebuild the old world is doomed to failure. That instead of Old World Blues there must be New World Hope.

Fallout 3, 4 and the TV show are obsessed with redeeming America. No you see it wasn't the Enclave/US Government that started the war. It was mean old vault tech!

No you see the NCR didn't collapse due to making the same mistakes as Pre-War America, it was due to Mean Old Vault Tech!

No you see the Legion are just goofy cosplayers inspired by the writers' pet character.

No you see the Courier building a new nation, a new world in the Mojave free of the baggage of the old is like, dumb because "War Never Changes" its always gotta be mad max raiders and people being gross cause its the apocalypse, see?

I mean when has an apocalypse story dealt with the rebuilding of a new world?

I mean apart from The Postman

And the Walking Dead comic

Another thing I hate about Fandom

Is the need for the things you like/are into to be not just a thing you enjoy, but morally righteous.

It leads to stupid posts about how by just being into darker media you're somehow a more mature, morally correct person and the opposite happens just as frequently.

No one can just enjoy anything anymore. No, they have to ascribe some moral weight to it.
