Let's take a look at what Baek Saheon is like at work!
We hope it helps you prepare to #GoatToWork starting May 12th! See our carrd for more info on the event.
1. Baek Saheon in the wiki
According to Kim Soleum's memories of the DER wiki, Baek Saheon was the employee of Daydream Inc.
wiki : 'Final rank was section chief. Total exploration 106 times. Among these, 17 special cases are recorded on the wiki. His nickname is Viper.'
So, in the wiki, Saheon's final position was section chief. To reach that position, he'd have been promoted to supervisor (μ£Όμ) β assistant manager (λ리) β section chief (κ³Όμ₯).
The field exploration team section chiefs we've seen so far were all squad leaders, so it seems reasonable to assume that Viper must also have been a squad leader.
We don't know what happened to him after the 106th exploration.
2. Baek Saheon now
The Baek Saheon we know also works at Daydream, as part of Squad F of Field Exploration Team.
Squad F also includes Jang Heoun (Bison) who started at Squad Y but managed to be transferred after a few months.
Eventually, Baek Saheon was promoted to supervisor, one of the early ones to be promoted according to Kang Yihak (Ep 219).
As supervisor, he'd have gained access to the fox counseling room. He'd also have been assigned his own darkness, just as Kim Soleum was assigned the tarot cards.
We don't know if he was transferred to another squad along with the promotion, as Lee Seonghae was.
3. What do other people say about Saheon at work?
<Part 1>
Jang Heoun, ep 84 :
"He's a kind person."
Kang Yihak, ep 158 :
(to Jin Nasol) "Why don't you order Mr.Goat over there to do it? He's being quiet like a dead rat."
<Part 2>
Kang Yihak, ep 219 :
That employee who was so obsessed with information and items from the very beginning, who was always cajoling his superiors, eventually even got promoted first.
'He seemed like he was investing quite boldly in extracting information from his seniors right from the start!'
Recently, he has been quiet for some reason. He must have realized the truth that investing in Darkness is the best way to go.
Eun Haje, ep 259 :
"You mean Roe Deer's batchmate? That slick, sly guy."
"When you hear 'Daydream Inc. employee', a series of stereotypical keywords pop into your head, doesn't it?"
Terrible personality, self-preserving, selfish, calculatingβ¦ (β¦) "That's the kind of person he is."
Kim Soleum, ep 318
'This guy is really committed to the corporate life.'
To think he was coming to work this early all this time. No wonder he eventually gets promoted to section chief.
Again, we hope this helps you prepare to #GoatToWork starting May 12th!
Even If You Got Dropped In A Ghost Story, You Still Go To Work: A visual primer for English speakers
This took me a week. I did this for ORV like 4 years ago so it felt like my moral obligation to make one again.
Some notes on character designs and images without text:
It's not clear what exactly Kim Soleum's mask is; the fact they call it a Roe Deer means the horns go straight up, and it's made of wood.
Gorals and domestic goats look very different, but in Manor of the Blind attention is put into how these two are similar and contrasting; the truly noble Go Youngeun with the white goat and the sinister Baek Saheon with the black goat. I also picked a literal goral instead of a mountain goat (which are naturally white) because gorals look more like roe deers than goats, making the 3 of them more closely linked.
Hear ye hear ye; Baek Saheon canonically has curly hair.
I am not giving Park Minseong brown hair. There is nothing wrong with a good warm black
Lee Jaheon is often depicted as an adorable little newt, but a huge part of why he is so hysterical is that he is scary, so I picked more intimidating lizard traits so he works for both dramatic heroic scenes and eating granola bars with the wrappers still on. He gets to keep the newt mask though
Braun canonically has white gloves! Sad day for leather fans
According to the emergent traits of J3, it seems like the strongest details are that he's slender, disheveled, always got that damn hat on, and he looks very haggard.
Trying to keep it utilitarian with Jin Nasol; a severe woman who relies on efficiency would probably not have bangs.
Ho Yuwon is described as looking very young, and considering his whole kit I've decided this one's an anime character
Seonghae's design (curly white hair) was kind of a jumpscare but I didn't need to change much. Just feels good to look at
Kwak Jekang apparently looks weirdly young for his position and considering everyone else is 25+ i think somewhere around early 20s/fresh grad is the best fit. He gets treated like a greenhorn so I think he doesn't have the gravitas of an anime character.
Choi is a reliable senior type, so making him look more mature. He's described as a sleek office worker type, so also making sure he looks like he uses pomade in his morning routine π

Hello! My country recently banned Tumblr after mistakenly classifying it as a gambling app or site. Tumblr is currently accessible for me through a different internet connection, but even after several hours, it still appears to be blocked for others.
So if there's a chance I can't use Tumblr again, I'll link my other socials here just in case.

Could you kindly fill us in on honorifics generally used between characters in the novel? I can see director Ho using -nim referring to Soleum but otherwise English fan translation usually opts for "Mr." or "sir" etc.
Ok so when I say honorifics I usually refer to μ‘΄λλ§ which not only includes how people refer to each other but also includes the vocab they use, how they end their sentences etc,. I looked it up and the whole thing is apparently usually translated as 'honorifics' π€·
Also, if you just want to look at how they all refer to each other, this document has the full list. I'm also looking at the document as I write the below.
With that out of the way...
How people talk to Sol (use of honorifics)
* for characters that refer to each other with their rank, sometimes they add surname or full name to the rank. For example, Assistant manager Eun-nim (eun daeri-nim). I've omitted all these, it's there in the document.
* contains spoilers up to 277
* Soleum, when talking to other people, usually uses respectful sentence endings, and usually the more formal form of it (~μ΅λλ€).
- Sol to LSH uses Supervisor-nim (juim-nim) -> later he was told to refer to her just as Dolphin (dolgorae-nim/ssi)
8. J3
- uses respectful sentence endings (~μ)
* squad B leader used casual sentence endings.
- Hey (jeogi), Roe deer-ssi (noru-ssi)
* squad B leader used 'employee dragon' (yong sawon)
- Sol to J3 initially used Sergeant-nim (banjang-nim) but now mostly uses Jay-ssi
9. Kwak Jegang
- used old fashioned sentence ending for referring to your youngers (~νκ²) -> now uses respectful, formal sentence ending (~μ΅λλ€)
- You (old fashioned way of referring to your youngers) (jahne), Soleum-ssi, Roe Deer-ssi (noru-ssi) etc -> 130666, you (more respectful) (dangshin), employee-nim (jikwon-nim)
- Sol to Kwak used to use Chief-nim (gwajang-nim), now no longer of course lol he just orders him around without referring to him
10. Ho Yuwon
- uses respectful sentence endings, a mixture of ~μ and ~μ΅λλ€
- Soleum-nim, Roe deer-nim (noru-nim)
* he uses -ssi for other employees so this is notable
- Sol to Ho used to use Director-nim (isa-nim), again he hasn't since becoming 130666 lol
11. Cheong Dallae
- Uses old fashioned sentence ending for referring to your youngers (~νκ²)
- Supervisor Soleum (Soleum juim), You (old fashioned way of referring to your youngers) (jahne)
- Sol to Cheong used Managing director-nim (μ무λ)
12. Braun
- uses respectful sentence endings, a mixture of ~μ and ~μ΅λλ€
- Roe deer-ssi (noru-ssi), Soleum-ssi, Friend
- Sol to Braun initially used Host-nim (sahoeja-nim), now it's Braun, you (casual) (neo), friend
* Sol uses casual speech to Braun. Braun offered right after their initial meeting that he could, and Sol accepted. Braun himself always uses respectful sentence endings due to his profession (with a couple of notable exceptions when he got mad at LJH)
