It was only seconds that lingered between them before Tyki turned away from the door, but it seemed to stretch as Armin stood in the hall, staring at the man who had gone from being so dear to him to being someone that made his stomach flutter in nervous dread over the course of only hours.
He had tried to reason with himself, tried to convince himself that it wasn’t something Tyki was hiding from him, that it had been a mix of atmosphere, alcohol and seeing what those thugs had done that had snapped something inside of the older man but no matter how many times he told himself the same story over and over it only took one moment of remembering that blood thirsty look that had filled his eyes, that twisted smile he’d had as he’d beat Armin’s would be aggressors senseless… That voice that didn’t seem his.
His over active mind hadn’t been kind enough not to let him imagine what would have happened if that side of him had snapped at him instead, what if he’d been the trigger for that anger… What might have happened?
When blue eyes settled on the smile that was forced across Tyki’s face, he couldn’t help but wince. He knew it wasn’t real, something only confirmed by the artificial tone in his voice. He was as reluctant about this encounter as Armin was in spite of how he’d initiated it.
“….Wait” He spoke, his words leaving his throat before he had time to think of the weight of them, but it was too late. Despite how much he didn’t want this conversation he knew it needed to happen.
“I want to talk to you…. Will you, come in?” He asked, nodding at the door to his room, finally moving the distance between them.
The look on the other's face was all Tyki needed to see. Their friendship was ruined, there was no fixing what was broken. So why should he even bother trying? It never bothered Tyki before when people declared they wanted nothing more to do with him, so why did this one have to bite him so badly? He'd just need to get out of there and never think about Armin again. That shouldn't be too hard if he threw himself full into his old lifestyle, right?
Before he could even take a step away, the boy had called out to him. Golden gaze slowly trailed back the boy, his expression remaining stoic. He couldn't allow the other to see his emotions, to know just how much this was bothering him. A wide grin forced it's way onto his lips, his acting skills working to make it seem seamless and realistic.
“ Hm~?
Well, I suppose I have some time to spare. ”
He wanted to say no, he wanted to get out of there and never think back on the other ----to completely get the other from his mind. But it appeared that wouldn't happen until the other had given him a piece of his mind. Fine, perhaps that would help to fuel his desire to forget all about the other. He stepped up to the door, waiting patiently for the other.
“ What did you need to talk about? ”
