Black Tongue Postpone Upcoming US Tour with Traitors
Earlier this year Black Tongue reemerged from a breif hiatus to announce a US tour and a new album in the works. It has been four years since Black Tongue has toured in the United States and they were set to come back to tour alongside Florida’s own Traitors. What would have been their first US tour since 2014 has been postponed indefinitely due to issues gaining work visas (again). Black Tongue released a statement via Facebook this afternoon letting fans know that the tour will not be going as planned:
“We deeply regret to inform that our upcoming US tour with Traitors is being postponed. Unfortunately, we have encountered devastating last minute issues with our work visa documents that makes it impossible for us to move forward with these planned dates.”
This is not the first time Black Tongue has had trouble entering the US for touring. In 2015 they were forced to drop a tour with Carnifex, Lorna Shore, and The Last Ten Seconds of Life due to the same issue. Now, three years later, it has happened again. It is uncertain how long the tour will be postponed, but the band is hoping to have another tour planned later this year.
Chelsea Grin Part Ways With Vocalist Alex Koeler
After having to drop a tour with Motionless in White this year due to his alcoholism, it comes as no surprise that Chelsea Grin is parting ways with frontman Alex Koeler. “Alex Koeler has opted to part ways with the band following his recent time spent in rehab and the life changes he’s made in newley found sobriety. We are all at a mutual understanding that the nomadic and tiring nature of touring is too volatile of an environment for a recovering alcoholic” the band wrote in a statement via Facebook.
Contrary to all expectations this is not the end of Chelsea Grin. In an interesting turn of events, Tom Barber of Lorna Shore will be filling Alex’s shoes from here on out, but it’s not the end of Lorna Shore either. While it is unclear who will be replacing Tom, Lorna Shore has made it clear that they will be continuing as a band. “A chapter of this band has been shut forever. However, our story has just began to unfold” the band wrote in a statement via Facebook.
This news comes as a shock to fans of both Chelsea Grin and Lorna Shore. Tom’s replacement of Alex has garnered mixed reviews. Fans of Chelsea Grin are upset about Alex’s departure while fans of Lorna Shore are upset about Tom leaving. Regardless, these changes open a lot of doors for both bands. Chelsea Grin gained a vocalist who can bring a lot to the table and there are a lot of possibilities for Lorna Shore’s replacement vocalist.
