Ch 24 snippet:
“Hood!” Babs said immediately. “What happened, your signal went dark?”
“Two minutes out,” Tim informed him, and Jason could hear him running.
“Sonic attack, I don’t—I don’t know what kind.” He finally pushed up, swaying on his feet and out of breath.
A white-suit tried to take advantage of Jason’s apparent distraction and came at him with a tazer. Jason tiredly shot him in the leg and he fell screaming.
“Hood,” Bruce barked in his ear, “Report.”
He looked up to see Danny flying at one of the planes, hitting a green barrier and attempting to claw his way through before mechanical arms reached to grab him—Danny wrestled those instead, gaining hold to swing the entire ship around and send it colliding with another—they exploded spectacularly, raining fire and metal. He hovered in the air, periodically backlit by bursts of lightning, as white hair whipped wildly in all directions. Thunder obediently followed a few seconds later, snapping him back to attention.
He heard a heavy cranking sound and turned to see one of the vans aim a canon at the sky.
There was a blinding flash coupled with a deafening crack—lightning struck, shattering the offending van to pieces. Jason jumped at the proximity, momentarily overwhelmed by the back-to-back assault on his senses.
“Hood!” B repeated more firmly, “Report, now.”
“Hostiles are these guys in white,” he began rattling off, “their weapons are energy-based, there’s invisible ships everywhere—”
Another explosion cut him off.
“And the Unknown is here and he’s on our side,” he finished.
