best way I have found to comfort people who are endlessly apologetic of things outside their control (often as a result of shitty relationships) is the jokingly hyperbolic accusation of [gasp] "so you're behind it all!"
like someone giving me directions who starts apologizing profusely when I miss a light as if it's their fault--[gasp] "it was you who petitioned city council to build this intersection in 1893!!" because it snaps them out of it and they laugh like. oh yeah. that's a ridiculous thing to blame someone for. I'm not that guy. you're not that guy. it works.
i read an amazing article by wannasworld and i decided to put together a small piece based on it. just a daily reminder to speak black women.
here’s a quiz i made: allow me to assign you a beloved character trope.
7 results: femme fatale, queen, prophet, poet, witch, gentleman thief, and otherworldly spirit in human form. enjoy ✩
people who arent punctual freak me out im so stressed. what do you mean the event starts at 6 and you’ll pick me up at 5:50 even though I live 20 minutes from the venue? what do you mean being 10 minutes late is “no big deal”? what if there’s no parking and nowhere to sit? what then? i need to be there at 5:45 just to be sure and you’re like Oh Whatever Dude… ARE YOU OKAY
She is soggy
Oh shes so good at that

the little jog in place to get hyped up before drinking! perfection!
[Tweet from @/fozmeadows: "human gender and sexuality are very much like animal taxonomy, in that both look structured and simple on the surface, but once you start investigating, it turns out there's actually no such thing as a fish despite the fact that we all know what a fish is, and that's okay"]
As a biologist, that is a fantastic comparison.
We talk about “fish” (which, cladistically, do not exist, there is no monophyletic group of “fish” that simultaneously includes all organisms we understand to be “fish”-like while also excluding, say, humans) because, despite the utter fiction that is fish, it’s still a useful label when we talk about certain features that “fish” tend to have in common.
Gender is absolutely the same way.
people don't seem to understand that the effects of hrt can vary from person to person. some of you may develop your cat ears and a tail more rapidly than the average, others may get paws first etc
Important question: no matter how embarrassing the answer is, tag or comment with the first song you can remember really liking as a little kid. The one you tried to listen to as much as possible and thought was really profound. Bonus points if you say how old you were.
i’ll start. the song “i talk to the wind” by king crimson was my favourite song when i was 7 years old … I thought it was so Moving. and it still slaps
every time a major conflict happens in a foreign country an american teenager makes a masterpost of links or some carrd about it and then 20k people reblog it w/out actually reading any of it until someone does and points out that OP is linking to straight up open neo-nazis. how many times will this repeat before people accept that maybe this method of getting and spreading info just fucking sucks
i feel like people are under the opinion that it’s ok to purposefully trigger a psychotic person IF. IF they’re a bad enough person. IF it’s funny enough. IF you’re friends with them. IF you’ve got a personal vendetta against them. IF they’re acting crazy. hell, even if they’re just existing or talking about their struggles in a public space. or even a fucking private one. which is so incredibly fucked up. your support for psychotic people should not be conditional.
you're t4t? cool, i'm actually t5t, so. one more than you. no big deal though

your 20s are about fucking up your hair and getting long overdue medical diagnoses actually
I think everyone should make dumb ugly zines and bad music and write shitty books with weird premises and publish them for pay what you will online. I think people should write plays that are only ever intended to be performed with their friends in their living rooms. I think people who like ttrpgs should explore bizarre itch.io games and new systems that have no affiliation whatsoever with any major publishing house. If youre lucky enough to have a cool local community radio station nearby you should listen to that and what people close to you have to say and what they're creating that has no focus on being nationally appealing. I just think creation should be more joyful and local both in a geographic sense and a personal and social sense and unconcerned with whether or not it will be commercially viable or slick or even good beyond your own pride in it. And I think it's good to seek out art that exists for its own sake or to appeal to the community it was created within
