people aren't even exaggerating indeed is literally like that. walmart attendant $13 an hour, target attendant $13 an hour, AI dick sucker $40 an hour, home depot attendant $13 an hour, guy who designs bullets that can only kill children $160k a year plus benefits, gas station manager $18 an hour

The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love (Maria Maggenti, 1995)
Although yes obviously it’s cheaper to make meals at home and always has been I do think that the response to increasing food prices (and prepared food in particular) from a certain group being “well just make all your food at home, every meal, with cheap ingredients bought in bulk!” fits very nicely into the agenda of regressive “complementarian” politics. Who is making all these meals? Who is spending hours every week planning balanced menus and going shopping and prepping ingredients and cooking and plating and storing?
If prices rise to the point of pressuring consumers to spend their time instead of their money, whose time ends up getting spent? What happens when your time to do this work, in addition to all the other labor you’re already doing for the home, becomes more valuable than the money you’d be making at a job? :/

I’m honestly surprised I’m not #triggered by the ariana fiasco and I don’t even consider mysef properly Recovered like I haven’t really gone to therapy about it I just stopped being severely anorexic somehow idk lmao
But one thing that is… not “triggering” to me but is definitely prompting a lot of Thoughts rn, is people saying that during her eternal sunshine era she looked thin but healthy (ok first of all no she didn’t but that’s beside the point lol)
And it made me think about how the difference for my family and friends between thinking I looked amazing, like the best my body had ever been, and them expressing concern over me looking visibly ill, was LITERALLY LIKE FIVE MAYBE SEVEN POUNDS. AND IM 5’11” THAT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF WEIGHT ON SOMEONE MY SIZE!!!
Just something to chew on (pun intended)
i also have a lot of things to say about eating disorders and celebrity in general that this is stirring up but not much of it is coherent yet and even some of what i feel is contradictory! i'll get it out later maybe. but i feel like more broadly pretty much everyone who has ever had an eating disorder will Feel Something about the ariana situation unfolding before us all and it gets messy fast bc a lot of projection (sometimes fair sometimes not) will inevitably happen
Another thing I keep running into in trying to put my thoughts into words is that so much of what I think about what might be going on (as I said yes I’m projecting, I don’t know this person so maybe that’s wrong of me but we’re all doing it) sounds positively insane to ~*normal people*~ like the mentality of someone with a restrictive ED is hard to get across to people who have never had one. so things floating around in my head sound positively melodramatic and nonsensical, even batshit crazy at times. But that’s what it is!!!
i live in the south and recreational weed is illegal but a medical marijuana card is so laughably easy to get and not even in like a "well anything medical in the US is easy to get if you have enough money" way like it's a free 90 second phone conversation where some nurse practitioner working from home asks how often u have panic attacks and whatever u say it automatically gets approved. <cheeto as door lock.jpeg>
I was born in the exact right generation I love being an unmarried woman in my twenties with my own bank account and no children

Going back to work next week 💔💔💔💔 unspeakable horrors await me
