These days, lots of public libraries have a "library of things" collection where you can check out kitchen appliances or yard tools or toys, and, as a children's library assistant, the most popular library of things item that I handle regularly is a plastic scepter thingy called like "unicorn princess magic wand". And whenever I check it out I make a big show of looking at the little kid and being like "do you solemnly swear to use your unicorn princess magic powers only for good and never for evil?"

And pretty much without fail, the little kid will get the world's most mischievous grin and go "I'm gonna use it for EVIL!!!"

please wear sunscreen!!! I've seen "fuck the beauty industrial complex" posts about complicated skincare regimens and am 100% with them except sometimes they mention sunscreen and no. no. absolutely not. sunscreen is a wonderful supportive friend who wants to keep you safe, and you should let her do it. throw out all your other cosmetics and skincare products if you want, but keep your sunscreen. and if you're not wearing sunscreen, start wearing it!!!! this is not about terror of aging, this is not about every tiny imperfection our fucked-up culture has made you feel insecure about, this is about protecting yourself from skin cancer. wear the damn sunscreen.

And LISTEN, if you are hesitant. i know sunscreens can be pricey. and theres a lot of fearmongering around cheaper sunscreens. and i know they make your eyes sting. and i know it can feel gross is u have sensory issues. but please hear me out. invest in 1 big tube of cheaper sunscreen and 1 smaller tube of any 'new generation' sunscreen that won't sting (reddit is a great place to look for recs). both at least spf50 and pa+++. use the more expensive one for the UPPER PART OF YOUR FACE. and the cheaper one for the rest of your face and body. apply generously and reaply.

If your skin is darker and you're worried about the white pasty sheen that sunscreen can leave on your skin, stay away from the mineral ones and look for the ones that say "clear" or have good reviews from other poc! I use Neutrogena Invisible sunscreen on my face and Hawaiian Tropic on the rest of me, and it works for my sister too -- for visual clarification we span the following skin tones:

If you still find it looks a lil ashy on your face, mix in a dot of tinted moisturizer or foundation. You need barely any at all and you can use a BB cream or something else that's super light coverage if you don't care for makeup.

So @shaneholeander mentioned that you SHOULDN'T mix sunscreen with other makeup because it affects the SPF which is something I didn't know! Lol I was raised first with "if you're not white, you don't need sunscreen" advice and then later the foundation trick because every sunscreen made dark skin look weird and ashy. But there's enough of them now that you shouldn't have to do that even if you have darker skin 🙏🏽 so it shouldn't take too much experimentation to find one you can use unadulterated.

You all should totally not get NoteBurner Spotify Music Converter to rip songs off of Spotify, converting them into mp3 files on your computer with all the album info and art. And you should absolutely NOT then use Musicolet, a free offline music app with all the playlist features of spotify and more and a shuffle that actually works, in order to ditch Spotify!

All of that would be completely illegal and you should absolutely not do it!

i cannot stop obsessing over what kind of government is operating in the film One Night Only. pre-martial sex is illegal but to what extent? if you break the law do they execute you gilead-style or is it more of a parking ticket situation? also they apparently imply gay sex doesn't register as a crime so are they only counting heterosexual PIV sex? what about oral sex? what about handies? what about fingering?! how are they tracking this through microchips that monitor your dopamine? these different sexual acts are impossible to differentiate between if you're just looking for spikes in someone's pleasure hormones! how could the boozy flirty culture of 20somethings in new york city be identical to ours with these kind of harsh purity laws seemingly aimed at reproduction in wedlock a well-established part of their society? is it play-acting, people desperately pretending they have the freedom of their former, more liberal society for...one night only before going back to their saudia arabian-esque lockdown?
