Tea? Gaster hadn’t had tea in over a hundred years. He actually hadn’t consumed anything actually. 

“That would be nice.”

He wondered if he could even taste anything now. His void life meant that he didn’t need food or sleep so he had never actually tryed to eat anything. He probably could considering he had all his other senses, but that didn’t make the idea absolute. 

“I assume we need to go to your house then?”

The mothlady brightened considerably at his acceptance of her offer. “A-alright! Do you have a, a favorite kind…?” Tea was something she could definitely do well, and she had a good number of flavors she could offer. One of the perks of being a flavorist, she supposed, and having tasted almost every plant in the Underground. 

“Oh, I guess so, h-huh? If you’d rather not, I could, uh, b-bring it to you, too. B-but it’s not far!” She waved a hand to gesture vaguely out into the gloom. “Just up the shore, here…” There was a thin strip of land at the base of the cavern’s wall that was (mostly) out of the water thanks to a low tide; it would lead to her home’s grotto, but it wasn’t the smoothest path. She certainly wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t want to go tromping through the marsh.

“I don’t really have a favorite so just make whatever you feel is best.”

Back in the days when he was in the lab Gaster would have drank any tea that was available. 

“Also I don’t mind walking there. Besides it would be rude of me to make you do so much.”

A little water and mud wouldn’t bother him. His normal composition was usually goopy anyways.

He was going to trust her to make him whatever tea she felt like? Mothmum was both flattered and slightly intimidated at the thought. What if she made something he didn’t like? Well, she’d just have to guess and do her best. He clearly was a monster who dealt with some…intimidating, stressful people, if the tone he’d snapped in when he’d appeared was anything to go by. So maybe something stronger? Oh, no, maybe something soothing!…Maybe she’d just make one of her favorites and leave it at that.

She tried to lead him along a dry path, one that hopefully wouldn’t result in any slips or tumbles into the soggy earth and water. “S-so…can I ask? Who, uhm. Who were you talking to? I mean, w-when you …n-no, never mind, th-that’s rude of me!”

To be honest the mothwoman hadn’t even remembered that that was today; it’d never been a day she was terribly keen about, and later she had all but forgotten it. Then she’d nearly tripped and cracked her head wide open over a loose bundle of something that had turned out to be, of all things, roses that had appeared on her doorstep. There was no note, no card, no name attached to the gesture, but still she took special care with them, tucking them in a vase and pausing to gently pat and primp the petals of the vibrant blooms. For all her skill with plants, she’d never been able to coax roses to grow in her garden.

Unfortunately it looks like work tonight is going to be too busy for me to really have Mothy attend the ball. I did a really fast (read: lame) mock-up of something she might have worn...maybe next time!

Mun: Not really, nah. Hubs and I have a long-standing open-with-our-feelings policy, so we’re well past the jealous/clingy stage. I trust that he’d never do anything to make me feel that way, so I don’t get riled over like OH NO HE SPOKE TO ANOTHER LADY AHHH.

Muse: No. She’s too placid, accepting...too passive to feel that sort of thing. That’s not to say some things that might trigger jealousy wouldn’t make her feel anything, but what she’d feel would be more self-directed, and sad.
