I’m a 22 yr old Indigenous (Cherokee/Wahzhazhe/Seneca-Cayuga) illustrator, cartoonist, and writer with a Bachelors of Illustration & Graphic Design.

Abyssal Mermaid OC — Melanie

Melanie was transported to Candle Cove in an attempt to escape an abyssal sea serpent after wandering too far from the kingdom out of curiosity.

Curious and confused about this newfound dimension, she luckily was aided by a mysterious pirate crew ran by, to her surprise, all merpeople disguised as humans. They all wore rings that shined a bright red color allowing them to transform from human to merperson which they used as a tactic during their battles to escape in and out of water, if needed.

In the end, Melanie decided to join the crew in promise to get her home. Since she is a light aligned user, she was the only one among the crew that didn’t need a ring to transform.

Just a lil sneak peak at a candle cove fanfic I’m working on involving the Laughingstock Crew. I’ve designed Melanie as a character more fitting for a novel rather than a puppet in the actual show. I’ve had her in mind for a while and I was so happy to have gotten her story and design down a bit more.

Abyssal mermaids aren’t an official thing in the wiki but I thought it would be interesting if they were. I imagine they’d be more based on fish from the deepest and darkest part of the ocean or nocturnal ones since the abyssal kingdom is mainly darkness. Also I imagine some would glow or be somewhat translucent.

Candle Cove Brainrot

I wasn't completely happy with my initial Percy design, so I redid it ft the skintaker

This is more related to my personal headcanons of the show, assuming it existed (not necessarily related to the wiki or any fanon). The show was very gory, but it would be a kind of "cute" gore, since the characters are mostly puppets, it wouldn't be explicitly gory, more like torn fabrics and cotton guts, things like that

Although Percy's face is made of porcelain, I wanted the flesh beneath his skin to be like crochet(?. Also, my headcanon is that his head and limbs are made of porcelain, but his torso is made of fabric and stuffed with cotton. His enemies always try to hurt him by tearing him apart, and many times he has had to be sewn back together
