Sorry its so late but this is truly a massive project that I have decided to undertake alone. Oops. Anyway first things first, here is a glimpse of the character creator for both the masc and fem characters, pronouns will be choosable but as I mentioned before will be limited to she/he/they due to potential grammar conflicts.

Oki thats all I'm gonna say for now. I can answer vaguely if anyone has questions but mostly I dont want to say too much when I'm still working on stuff, but expect some point and click elements too, not just standard vn choices.

Hi, I love your games, they are really nice! I was wondering why you decided to cancel Write in For Love, tho, or if there is no way of it getting an update. It's just that I checked the page and I suddenly saw that's cancelled, and (I think) that you didn't talk about it, so if it doesn't bother you I would like know!!

Hey, I did switch it over to cancelled though I think of it more as an indefinite hiatus. I'm dealing with ongoing health issues (specifically suspected rheumatoid arthritis in my hands, the doctors aren't being helpful so I keep having to wait) this has caused me a lot of stress and has tanked my productivity.

I was stressed even more y thinking about future projects and deadlines on top of that so for the time being I have suspended that project. I may still finish it in the future but for right now I'm trying to not push myself too much.

sorry if this has caused any disappointment, I genuinely hoped to be able to have it finished by now, but these issues have come out of nowhere and have really killed my motivation

A life update.

Hey all, I know I've been quiet and that that's not exactly out of the ordinary for me but I have some not great news.

A month ago I thought I had injured my drawing hand. Inexplicably there was swelling but no pain. I tried everything but nothing got rid of it. There was also joint pain in my right arm and a bruised feeling along the joints when pressed. Today I finally went to a doctor.

We got x-rays. And while I'm still waiting on blood tests it looks like I might genuinely have rheumatoid arthritis at just 28 years old.

I'm in shock, I'm overwhelmed, I feel like I'm grieving to be quite honest. Please keep your fingers crossed for me while I try to figure this out.

Please remember to rest your hands and take breaks while drawing. Don't push yourselves too much.

Random Characters 3

(Referencing this again since I'm reposting it) The goblin character came from a reel by @carziecat-blog. It's here on Tumblr if anyone wants to check it out, but the reel is on Instagram if I remember correctly.

The other character is based on a "Create Your Own OC" reel by someone named Corzpal, but it seems to have disappeared from social media. Or at least I haven't been able to find it.

El otro personaje esta basado en un reel de "Crear tu propio Oc" de alguien llamado Corzpal, pero parece que desapareció de redes. O por lo menos no he sido capaz de encontrar.

Hello, I hope this isn't too intrusive of a question, but I'd like to know your opinion if possible. I'm an aspiring solo game developer, but I'm a little concerned about the financial aspect of pursuing something like this. In your experience, with the DLCs you sell on itch plus the sneak peaks you provide on Patreon, does it provide enough money to live off of as a full-time job? Or is it necessary to maintain a separate form of income and simply view game development as a sort of side job or extra pocket money? I myself work in retail currently but I adore working on games on my free time (none are published yet) and I'm curious to know what it looks like on the back end on the financial aspect, even if it's just a vague idea to know what I'd be signing myself into.

It's alright to ask! I am lucky enough to do GB Patch Games work full time. It's my only job. However, it did take time.

From late 2012 to 2016 I made zero money. I spent money on VN making as a hobby and then spent money to work towards releasing paid content. From 2017 through most of 2020 I was making some money, not nearly enough to pay for the games and fully support myself though. It was 2021, almost ten years from when I started, that I was a full time game developer who could comfortably make a living this way. Our Life originally released late 2020, that's what did it for me. Before OL, I'd released four free games and two commercial games. I also had multiple projects that were started and didn't go anywhere.

During the earlier years I had jobs and/or was going to college while working on games. I was lucky enough to live with family while trying to get things to work out.

Unfortunately, this doesn't make me a great person to ask for advice unless you are fine with taking several years to reach success. I can only imagine how it could be done with someone's first project or within a few years. Beyond that, I'm not a solo dev so I need to spend money to hire a team. If I was doing everything myself, I could've supported myself with less game money coming in.

One thing I will say, it's easier to sell a game that allows players to choose the MC's gender and better if there's MC customization beyond that, too. Selling a VN with a fully set protagonist is much harder in the English speaking VN world. Not impossible, though.

how tall is fern? I’ve always wondered this..

and, let’s say for instance, MC doesn’t leave the pendant behind, would he seek a way to find MC or would he just forever mourn her and what they could’ve been?

I imagine fern is around 6'5-6'6 or somewhere around there, Initially he was meant to be taller but that would have messed with the art too much, would be hard the have him and MC in the frame together.

I think Fern would initially search for MC but he wouldn't search forever, I imagine he would switch to mourning after a few months since Fern is quite resigned to his isolation after many centuries like of being alone mostly. It's not something he welcomes but he also believes it is his fate to be alone because he exists purely by coincidence. He would likely see it as a reinforcement of that belief.

The stereotype of the nerd girl taking her glasses off and suddenly she's beautiful, but in reverse. A cold tough mean office lady who glares at everyone until she gets glasses and suddenly becomes sweet, approachable and friendly since she no longer has a constant headache over not being able to fucking see, doesn't need to squint at everything, and actually remembers individual people by name now that she can tell them apart at all.

Translation and updates + apology for delayed updates

First, I want to apologize for how slow updates have been recently. I'm really sorry, Ive been in a slump and creating has been a bit painful to be honest. Its hard not to feel like what I'm doing is meaningless when if feels like the world if falling apart. I've been feeling like there's no point. Everytime I see the nice comments I feel so incredibly grafeful and motivated again then I open a social and BAM more bad news.

I'm steadily getting back into the swing of it and will have a character creator reveal for what we choose to become out soon. The art is mostly done! And it has both masc and fem body bases so hopefully you folks like what I've done with that!

Lastly I am so excited to announce that SVIYA is now available in 3 additional languages. Russian, Spanish and Brazillian Portuguese!
