“The moon is a loyal companion. It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human. Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.”
— Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me

It’s Halloween. You’re a kid again, walking home from school. The ghost costume you wore to school drags on the ground. It’s chilly, the sky is dark gray and overcast, much darker than usual for this time of day. The wind blows the leaves down the sidewalk and they crunch under your feet with each step. The scents of fall foliage and chimney smoke fill the air. Each house you pass is covered in fake spiderwebs and glowing orange and purple lights and jack-o-lanterns. Even the funny inflatable decorations in your neighbor’s yard fill you with a thrill. The sounds of laughter and haunted house music float through the air. Your excitement grows as you finally reach your house. You rush up the front porch steps and through the front door, where your parents greet you with a hug. You drop your book bag and grab an old pillow case that you can’t wait to fill up with candy. You rush back outside to meet up with your friends and spend the rest of the night trick or treating.

Since I haven’t put a photo of myself on here in years 💓
Imagine it being September 1st. you wake up to crisp air and the smell of rain and leaves. You get out of bed and put on your favorite cozy sweater, fuzzy socks and make a cup of your favorite warm autumn drink. This is what I’m dreaming of 🍂

Surprisingly, I was the only car in the parking lot at the peak of Cadillac Mountain for this “sunset” a couple nights ago. A little rain scared all the tourists away and I had it all to myself. Looks like just home.
6 days until autumn.
