Why the rest days are crucial for your development?
So, yesterday was the first day of our 30 Days Booty Challenge. That means that you now have 2-3 rest days before the next gym session, and if you really did put your booty to work the right way on your day 1, I think now you’re probably very grateful for these sweet resr periods :)
If you’re one of those overachievers who fell bad if not working out every single day, stop and enjoy your rest :)
I decided to make a little list of reasons why the rest is so important and probably crucial in meeting your goals (yes, the big-sexy-round-firm booty goals :)
1. Your muscles grow when you rest - if you’re building muscle, you should take some time off from lifting the same region so the body has time to repair the muscles you’re working.
2. If you decide to not have rest days, you run a greater risk of injury - if you do not give your body enough time to adapt to higher stress levels and to fix the cranks in your muscles after hard working, it can lead to serious injuries.
3. The rest is important because it allows the body to adapt to the stress of exercise so the real training effect can take place. It also allows the body to replenish energy stores and repair damaged tissues.
4. Not resting enough can cause the overtraining syndrome - signs of overtraining include a feeling of general malaise, staleness, depression, decreased performance and increased risk of injury, among others.
5. Overtraining can cause mood problems - exercise can be a potent anti-depressant, but too much exercise can have the opposite effect, causing anxiety over workout schedules and depression from being chronically run down.
6. Get enough sleep - it is during sleep when growth hormone leveles are at highest, and that hormone is crucial for the optimal functioning of a number of physiological processes and growth of body tissues, including muscle.
7. Without proper rest you will quickly reach your performance plateau, and probably experience reduced performance (strength bye-bye).
So, yeah, get some rest and don’t worry about it. Just enjoy :)
