So since the death of the internet is quickly approaching us (joking but…also not joking) let’s talk about physical media.
Now I’ve been collecting physical media techinallg since 2020 when I got my first record player however I’ve been collecting pretty much my whole life since I was born in 04 and I remember having things like DVDs, CDs, and VHS Tapes. I was also a bit of a gamer growing up and I am currently looking for a Nintendo ds to help dumb down my phone (which will be another post)
Now I am making this post cause maybe you want to start a physical media collection but don’t know where to start and that’s okay I’m here to try and help you and I encourage anyone who sees this to reblog or comment some of their tips
First off, check your thrift stores first and if you can’t find it there then you can check somewhere else, I’m trying to save money for a car radio and maybe more than that cause I don’t know what’s going on with that but I recently got a cd player from the thrift store. Don’t know if it works cause it needs batteries or a plug in maybe both but I got for 4.99 before tax. Now I was also looking at other cd players and the one I wanted if I couldn’t find at the thrift was $50.
Check your local record stores for CDs if you want newer artist like Chappell Roan or Olivia Rodrigo, I have not found a place for K-Pop other than Walmart and Target, also check thrift stores as well I think this goes without saying but thrift stores are gonna be your best friends
“But Emma,” I hear you say “I don’t want to spend money on this album if I don’t know I’ll like it? Where can I go that’s like streaming but is a physical place?” Libraries my girly boy or Broski or…gender neutral version of that.
I’m going to make a library card but what I would do is check out the cd or dvd or whatever first and then if you like it return it and buy your own copy.
And honestly this goes for everything I would think. CDs, DVDs, VHS Tapes, Vinyl Records, Cassettes and any other media you can think of
