My favorite canon yuri couples

I’ve seen similar posts, so I thought I’d make one of my own.

In no particular order.

1/ Futaribeya

Maybe I’m kinda cheating here because contrary to some of their friends Sakurako Kawawa and Kasumi Yamabuki have yet to officially become a couple, not for a lack of Sakurako boldly and often declaring her love for her eternal roommate. These two both know that in their ideal world they would never have to leave their room in which the temperature never strays far from 18°C and where an eternally gorgeous and cute Kasumi feasts on a never-ending array of delights happily gazing Sakurako prepared for them before cuddling close together in bed. Love means not needing a ring to know you’re married? Maybe it does for these two.

2/ Catulus Syndrome

Oops... These two aren’t official either. But they’re slowly getting closer. Shut-in FPS-addict Yuki Shirakaba only momentarily laments being hauled away from her comfy lonely life by happy-go-lucky cat-seductress Riko Ayano. And while she half-heartedly struggles against the widening of her world the two drop from one adventure into another supported by a variety of colorful friends while Riko makes sure nobody separates her from her Yuki-chan. With a Promotional Video released fingers crossed an anime will follow suit.

3/ Tsurezure Biyori

Yep. These two are also just starting to figure out how they feel about one another. Even so, it might be a good sign that Koharu Hanamura doesn’t seem to care her childhood friend Mafuyu Shirotsuki is almost as indolent as Futaribeya’s Kasumi and twice as snarky. Her heart was torn asunder when Mafuyu was forced to move to Tokyo at the end of elementary school and now they meet again in high school Koharu’s life will be filled wonderfull sunshiny days. Days in which her cuteness never ceases to amaze Mafuyu who can famously be got to do anything as long as you get Koharu to do it too.

4/ A Love Letter for the Marching Puppy

What do you get if you genderswap Goku, pair her with ‘Sdeath and send them to Meiji era Japan? A brilliant and unusual yuri romance at a military academy for girls filled with lots of cute and humorous events involving food, tsundere senpai-behavior, a confused girl exploring her budding feelings for a complicated but protective and adoring older girl, more food and tsundere senpai-behavior, lovely secondary characters, still more food and tsundere senpai-behavior, and vividly portrayed plots involving the wars Japan fought around the end of the 19th century.

5/ All of Humanity is Yuri Except For Me

The bottom line: If you are in any way a Diakko shipper you NEED to read this manga. Okay, it might not be nice to say about someone’s characters that they resemble two other characters as if they were long lost sisters, but Marika Uruuno and Lilly Kazami are almost certainly inspired by the lively Japanese witch and her refined British friend. The story is as brilliant as it is simple: One day Marika wakes up in a world where all the girls are exactly like the ones in her own. Except they are all lesbians. As to boys: There are none. After meeting the highly intelligent Lilly who convinces her to act like lovers so as not to stand out Marika valiantly endeavors to find her way home. But while Lilly is swept up in Marika’s energy and helps her clumsy new friend to reach her goal both girls fall harder and harder for one another. In spite of the mysterious reason for which Marika particularly wants to go back to her own world, there might come a moment when she will have to choose which world she really belongs to.
