Hurray! There's a new born baby in the wild. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉. We are delighted to announce a new born baby gorilla in Buhoma sector. This bundle of joy was born to Kibande of Rushengura gorilla family. This is the second birth in this gorilla family that has been recorded in less than two months. Kibande's new birth marks her fifth surviving offspring and raises the Rushengura family size to 17 members. She is also the most senior lady and kingmaker of the family. Uganda wildlife Authority continues to be committed to the conservation and protection of gorillas to ensure that the population of increases despite of the Covid19 interruptions. Mom Bella gave birth to a healthy male calf JABALI at around 22H15 last night (18 August 2020). This is Bella’s sixth calf. Bella is one of the original six rhinos brought to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and came from Kenya. Mother and calf are doing well. This brings the number of rhino on Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to 32.
