“ I’m not a mental health doctor but I know what you’re going through. “ He said handing her a cup of tea as he led her back to the couch. “ I saw someone who had been through the same thing.” He said softly. “ It helped.” He said. “ If you don’t mind me asking how long ago did he pass?” He asked

Amanda took her tea and begrudgingly followed as she was lead from the door. She sat and stared into her tea but eventually looked up and answered the doctor who was trying to help her.
Amanda had been exploring the estate when she finally found it. Somewhere she could dance. The ballroom was usually empty during the day, or so she’d gathered from her snooping, and so she took her shoes and speaker and slipped into the dark room. She only turned on enough lights that she could see, but nothing excessive that someone might notice. With her speaker set as low as she could manage while still being able to hear her music, Amanda began dancing. Her body gleefully ached as she used her muscles once more.
She lost track of time and space, or at least that’s why she didn’t notice the stranger who’d come upon her.

“ I’m going to recommend that you come see me once a week. We can talk and I can check on you. “ He said gently. “ Listen I know the pain but he would want you to move on. To live for him.”

“ Orenda is a healing place. You’ll find peace here. “ He said as he got up to get some tea for the both of them.
Amanda’s heart sank with the doctor’s recommendation of weekly visits. She didn’t want to heal or find peace. She wanted Elisha, she wanted the pain to end.
When the Doctor stood and moved and headed for something outside of the room, Amanda made a quick decision to run, but she wasn’t quick enough it seemed. She froze in place when she heard the man return.

“ I am one of the doctors here. I was told that you need to be on suicide watch.I want to give you a chance to talk me out of it. “ He said softly . “ I lost my sub so I know what you are going through.”

Amanda was stunned into silence. Her parents had convinced her this would be a fresh start but of course this was only their way of getting more eyes on her. When the Doctor spoke of his own personal experience Amanda moved from silent shock to tears, not many knew the feeling of being so incomplete.
But she had a chance to get some attention off of herself so she spoke through her tears. “Orenda won’t have to worry about me. I learned my lesson in the last program.”

I felt like that my first year without snow too but once the decorations are up and there are snowflake cookies everywhere you turn it should feel more festive.
“I hope I do.”

Callum opened the door. “ Hello. Why don’t you come in Amanda. “ He said as he moved out of her way. He led her to the living room and pointed to the couch. “ Please sit down.”
Amanda nodded and moved into the house. She sat where she was told, all the while still wringing that paper in her hands.
Amanda took a quick look at the man’s wrist, looking for his tattoo to assess why she might be here.

Amanda stood at the door of the Villa she’d been directed to. She nervously wrung the paper with the villa number in her hands as she waited for the door to open. She checked the villa number one more time to be sure she was in the right place.
What do you look for in a dominant?
I don’t look for anything. I found my dominant. Elisha was perfect. Loving, smart and funny...
It doesn’t matter. I found my dominant and I lost him.
When did you lose your virginity?
When I was seventeen. I didn’t wait long after I met my Dominant Elisha. But why wait when you know you’re in love?
Where do you hope to live someday?
I’d like to go home someday. Halifax would be a nice place to visit before I go.
What is your biggest regret?
Not finishing what I started in my last program. I should have locked the door. How could I have not locked the door?

I agree with that. I keep waiting to step outside and be hit by an icy blast but I do not miss all the layers of clothes.
“I don’t know. I kind of enjoyed bundling up in cozy clothing.”

“Just wait until the summer. It’s so hot all the time, and the rain is insane.”
“I guess I’ll have to adjust. I don’t have much of a choice after all.”

That’s a shame but at least you will be ready for the next one. Are you excited about Christmas?
“Not exactly. It doesn’t feel very much like Christmas without snow.”
