The Dawnguard DLC is good because no matter what faction you choose you get to help Serana murder her shitty dad and you can choose to leave Valerica to rot in the soul cairn :)
@ the people who make TES: if you don't get to murder or harm molag bal in some way for his quest in tes6 I'm going to scream let me kill Hoebag Balls
Can't believe I have to make this post but if I reblog anything like a meme about serana that seems to be "mocking her trauma" I am Very Much Not Doing That and most likely found it relatable or something like that. I relate to serana for Reasons TM. I might reblog jokey content about serana's family or whatever but I don't actually like them or anything and I don't support them obviously.
Anyways in conclusion fuck molag bal
i love how in Skyrim kids just walk up to you and are like “hey, wanna play tag?” thats just so nice. especially when you’ve completed the main quest and everybody knows you’re dragonborn and these kids are just “hello extremely powerful human being whose only limitation is their physical form, i bet you can’t catch me” god i love that so much i really do
The dragonborn and Gianna preparing the emperor some soup
thinking about skyrim demastered argonian
handsome
artistic muse
to be clear i do think this is 100% an accident but i think skyrim’s blades are accidentally realy well written, and either way are MUCH more sympathetic than the blades of morrowind or oblivion .
like delphine and esbern are trying to hold paarthurnax accountable for crimes from like 100000000000 years ago, which is pretty stupid and bad writing, but interpreting it, the blades are at this point
pretty much just 2 people
actively being hunted by the current most significant power in tamriel
the rise of this power coincides with the return of dragons, which is largely a mystery to them
deprived of their more recent historical purpose as “secret police for dragonborn emperor”
desperate for a purpose, and looking to ancient history, while having this contrasted by the fact that the Last Dragonborn is definitely nothing like the legacy of the dragonborn emperors
they need you to prove that youre on their side. your character is nothing like the dragonblood emperors they historically served, theyre confusing and different. they can accept no ambiguity, they NEED to know that you side with them and by extension mortals as a whole, and the ultimate proof is you being willing to do justice that is millenia past due and not really needed anymore.
now to be clear the blades are absolutely evil and still are POS shills for tiber septim and theyre imperialists, but they have ALWAYS been. the blades in oblivion are agents of a (dead) tyrant. the blades in morrowind are agents of an active tyrant and they are invested in increasing colonial control of morrowind. skyrim’s blades are desperate , deprived of a cause, holding no power, and basically just two justifiably paranoid people. they have returned to their most basic cause. they arent sympathetic, but theyre more justifiable. killing paarthurnax might not just be a stupid enforcement of centuries old justice that has long been irrelevant, its PROVING that your character, a dragon in a mortal body, can be trusted, and that their purpose can be retained and that not everything theyve known is lost.
(again this isnt intentional honestly i think its just bad writing that accidentally becomes good)
My character was supposed to be lawful good but I love the idea of her ditching her extremely strict moral code when it comes to the thieves guild because she's dumb af and found this one dude really hot.
interrupting my usual content briefly to tell you that in the course of my everlasting quest for kinda-medieval fantasy I have wandered into the realm of Skyrim for the first time and it’s WILD
a man ran up to my character in the street to give her a basket ‘as a token of his affections’. I have never seen him before or since
I can’t go anywhere at all because of my horse’s unquenchable bloodlust if my character tries to sneak past an enemy hideout it charges in hooves flailing to blow her cover and kick bandits in the face
I had absolutely no intention of getting overly invested but then a big raccoon man kept telling my character how stupid he was, turned into a wolf and then worried that he’d scared her, charged at the open mouth of a dragon but got freaked out by spiders, and then after the quest he came out with ‘I would stand at her back, that the world might never overtake us.’ so my character obviously has to marry him and set up home together and start adopting kids. maybe get some chickens
the man who delivers letters can find my character absolutely anywhere, under any circumstances. how is he so powerful. what does he know
anyway
you ever think about how the entire oblivion fanbase draws lucien lachance looking like oooh ahhh mr speaker sir when his in game model is actually like
I'm taking a bath with lights off and a lit scented candle, I thought it would be a nice relaxing experience but I feel like a draugr in a skyrim dungeon
mercer: NOOOO YOU CAN’T KEEP PICKING UP RANDOM CROOKS OFF THE STREET, IT’S A WASTE OF GUILD RESOURCES
brynjolf:
i’ve seen a lot of posts floating around that decry skyrim’s stupider mods (skimpy armor, bouncy breast-and-butt physics, etc), but i haven’t seen any lately that point out the fun ones, which is a shame. so i’ve written up a quick list of my favorite obscure-ish mods to share with you all—these aren’t massive overhauls, just little tweaks here and there that add to the overall experience
female giants: fantastic reskin that replaces some of skyrim’s male giants with women. there are a few mods for this on the nexus, but this is the only one in which the giantesses resemble their male counterparts, not scaled-up lady nords. you have to hike out to the more distant camps to find them, iirc, but that’s part of the fun
friendly giants (and mammoths): makes giants unaggressive towards the player unless attacked outright. sometimes they’ll even run over and help you out in a fight. great for lore purposes—i play a researcher who’s friendly with several giant clans—or for players who just want to hang out with giants. who doesn’t
scarified dark elves: adds decorative scar patterns to dunmer models (like in morrowind). you can either apply it to your character alone, or to all the dunmer in the game
redguard fashion: modder’s resource that adds several yoku outfits to the game. noteworthy for including the biggest, fluffiest gloves i’ve ever seen—perfect for redguard characters who miss home, but still want to stay warm and toasty
falmer companion gleeb: adds a falmer follower to the game! his name is gleeb! i love him so much! you will love him so much!
player headtracking: rather than staring blankly ahead all the time, your character will turn their head to look at npcs within a certain range. depending on your character’s relationship with that npc, they’ll also smile or frown at each other! an absolutely essential download, if only so your character can smile at gleeb
bigger trees: scales up all the trees! forests are dense and gorgeous with this mod installed
fallen trees: adds fallen trees to strategic locations around skyrim. some of them span cliffs and rivers, which is fun—instead of wading through the water, you can (very carefully) edge across on the tree
bent pines: adds a gorgeous new tree model to the game. yes, i do like trees. why do you ask
supreme and volumetric fog: i like fog, too. if you hate being able to see your hand in front of your face, this is the mod for you. it really is Supreme and Volumetric
the bottomless pit: probably not lore-compliant but i’m including it anyway. this is my favorite quest mod because of how different it is—you navigate the dungeon (a bottomless pit) entirely by falling. it is extremely challenging. you will die. you will die a lot. but you’ll definitely feel as though you’ve earned the prize at the end
winterhold bridge repair: fixes the college’s crumbling bridge, rendering it infinitely less dangerous. my archmage held me at staff-point until i downloaded this
none of these will eat your framerate, jiggle a boob, or crash the game. go forth and download gleeb immediately
adding bury your dead.
look, sometimes i just want to give someone an honorable burial. other times i’m just sick of seeing the corpse every time i pass through town. so bury your dead! this puts them in a grave with a little headstone, nice and proper like.
