If you could only sleep with one person here, who would it be and why?
his eyes search for felix immediately, gaze wandering the room until it settles on the one person who makes him feel every emotion on the spectrum without trying. he bites his cheek, a habit ( mostly ) for when he’s faced with something difficult.

“Oh thanks.” Cosette said smiling at him gratefully after standing back up taking the box from him. “Well today I have a wide range of ages so you never know. From teaching the youngest the basics to keeping an eye on the older more experienced ones it’ll be an interesting day for sure. What about you?”
❛ variety’s always nice, but do you have anyone helping you or something ? that’s a pretty huge range of kids and what they can do. ❜ he shrugs at her question, looking thoughtful. ❛ well, aside from my usual business of treating whatever scrapes the kids get, i think i’ll have a mostly uneventful day. amy might try to sing my ear off, though. ❜
felix.
the clang of the utensils to the floor normally would have been enough to shock felix’s soul out of his body, but he was too distracted by the fact declan was here to even care. he watched declan’s movements carefully as if he was trying to become accustomed to them again after the immense time they spent apart. declan was no longer a text that was never responded to or a vivid yet distant memory: he was here, and so was felix. if there had been bitterness in declan’s voice, felix surely didn’t notice it. he was almost starstruck by the other, and no matter how much felix wanted to jump out of his skin because of this, he played it as cool as possible. though knowing felix, he wouldn’t come off as ‘cool’ one bit.
felix listened to declan’s words carefully, mindlessly nodding his head along. “that sounds like a fun summer… or year. either way, still sounds pretty nice,” he nodded once more, hopeful that his tone didn’t come off as if he was uninterested. truthfully, felix was very interested and was just incapable of showing it. “i haven’t heard from you either… in a long time,” felix blurted, seemingly making things so awkward that even his slow and distracted mind could process it. “i mean mine was good i guess, too. hiking, fortnite, a lot of the usual.” felix stopped himself and paused, despite the fact that he looked like he would speak again in just seconds. “i dropped out of college halfway through the year, i guess that’s new.” while felix truly had no plans for telling others that he dropped out, he couldn’t help but impulsively tell declan. if anything, he somehow wanted to tell declan because he felt as if the other would truly understand.
there’s too much silence between them, too much stretches of time where they’re just staring at each other and getting used to being older, to being just a little different than they remember. declan bites his tongue and laughs, smiles softly as he runs a hand through his hair. ❛ yeah, it was a pretty okay time away from camp. ❜ he says, trailing off as felix blurts out something that makes his heart hurt just a little. ❛ i was — busy. with school and work but i haven’t... i couldn’t reach you so easily. but i mean — it’s nice that you kept yourself busy, right ? ❜ he wants to say more, wants to push himself to just ask everything that he’s been holding back ever since he first spotted felix on the first day all the camp counselors arrived but he can’t. he doesn’t know what’s holding him back, what’s telling him to keep his mouth shut. he ends up biting his tongue.
concern flits across declan’s face too easily when felix tells him he dropped out of college. his mother always told him he had a bad habit of wearing his heart on his sleeve. his breath is caught in his throat before he manages to quietly say, ❛ are you okay ? that’s— ❜ he has to stop himself before he says anything that could hurt the other. they weren’t familiar with each other like they used to be. ❛ that’s pretty huge. what... can i ask what happened ? is that why you didn’t... ? ❜ he lets his sentence end there, hopes that felix will pick up on the unspoken. he also wishes he hadn’t said it.

1. i didn’t want to be trouble for you, or for everything you worked hard for and it — hurts sucks that you could move forward without me so easily.
2. i wish i was as confident and carefree as you but i’m not so i’ll just keep pretending like it’s my thing to be so… bothered.
3. i’m scared i’m nothing close to what you thought i was.

who is the most clumsy person at camp?
❛ is it fair to say everyone ? i feel like i’ve treated everyone in the medical cabin at least twelve times since we got here. ❜
favorite and least favorite thing about coming back to camp?
❛ it keeps me busy, i can see my favorite people again and just being around fresh air all the time is incredible. i don’t like the shitty service though, but i guess i’ll never get over that. also, campers. campers are simultaneously my favorite and least favorite thing about coming back to camp. ❜

❛ weird trio of people, considering they’re all my close friends. uh, i’d have to say… fuck @imcnis, because she’s the person i can see where it might not end up weird, marry @ofsalamanders because i remember him as the first person i wanted to spend forever with he has frogs, and frogs are always a nice addition anywhere. and lastly, changing kill to kiss because i couldn’t do that to @matucs. have you seen him ? he’s so nice and sweet and it’s literally a crime to make him sad. ❜

“Yeah it is a bit weird. Technically they’re not supposed to be awake for another hour.” Cosette said shrugging her shoulders holding a freshly made cup of coffee in her hands fixed just how she liked it taking a quick sip. “Breakfast isn’t served until 8.”

Izzy had just returned from taking the older kids on a trail ride. Her black hair was sticking out in random directions from where her helmet had been sitting. She was carrying her helmet in one hand, and two stacked saddles in the other.. “I swear some of these kids have no idea where these things go. They just leave their saddles in the stalls.”
