In The News: Louisiana's Angola Prison
Curators at the National African American Museum for History and Culture—under construction on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.—have negotiated for their collection a guard tower and prison cell to be relocated from the Louisiana State Penitentiary. Also known as Angola, the prison is a notorious symbol of the “dehumanizing incarceration of blacks in the 20th century and that practice’s link to slavery".
Originally a slave plantation on the banks of the Mississippi River, Angola grew into a brutal, privately owned prison that leased out convicts as forced laborers after the Civil War. The state took over the operation in 1901, not with an eye to reform, but to reaping big profits, said Burk Foster, a former professor of criminal justice who has written a history of Angola.
Cruel and squalid, Angola often inflicted worse suffering than was endured by slaves, historians say. In the 1960s, because of its violence, it was widely known as the bloodiest prison in the South.

Okay my queue is empty and I'm caught up on all replies for this account. If this isn't the case because you know I owe you then just shoot me a message and I'll get right on it. Regardless I would love to get some asks and start some new roleplays here if anyone's looking to have some fun.  Let me know. Â

I know the man I am is not who I should be. The Devil take my hand says, “Child come with me." My body shivers and aches. I can’t break free. Why do the things I hate come so naturally?
Hannibal AU: agent Graham and doctor Lecter as husbands serial killers
What if Will gave in to Hannibal’s temptation in Minnesota?
You never expect them, like led by an instinct predator strikes when prey is at its most oblivious, most vulnerable. The one with black, messy hair is wild and rough, his voice hoarse and metallic as he orders the victims to do whatever he pleases. The other, elegant and pompous, likes to stand and watch, this almost affectionate smirk making his lips look too thin, like a mouth of a snake. The one with messy hair always uses hunting knife. He guts you nice and slow, greed in his eyes like fever and madness yet in all of this he’s terrifyingly lucid and precise. The other prefers to strangle, the expression of delight while he makes the life go out with the last breath resembles nirvana. They don’t have a pattern, no particular selection of victims, the murder scene left at various stage of bloody mess, surprisingly carefully arranged like breadcrumbs for those who should follow. They rarely interact while committing the act but there’s something in a way the elegant one smirks that bursts with twisted affection towards the other. And the way the other one lets his hand linger on his shoulder or his arm like seeking paddle in ecstasy, guidance in fever and madness. And their bodies move in sync, silent communication that does not require words, betraying deep bond and absolute devotion to each other. There’s blood, gore and cruelty with twisted undertones of tenderness and intimacy.

Hey little thing let me light your candle  ‘Cause mama I’m sure hard to handle
It’s all down hill from here.
As Donnie Darko said, THEY (@BryanFuller, @eddieizzard, @KaceyKadoodles et @NBCHannibal overall, just look at all these gorgeous people, aghh, this project is so lovely it hurts) MADE ME DO IT. Also: Kacey Rohl looks SO like Clarice Starling to me, that I just… can’t. Also: the butterfly is Acherontia atropos, like in the movie, not Erebus odora, like in the book… but I guess those who are still wondering where the Hell did I get my user name finally have a clue xD Also: don’t get me started on Eddie Izzard theme. That’s worse than Titus Welliver and definitely as bad as Clark Gregg. Fatal strike for me. Gonna paint him more than I suspected, apologies in advance…
Huh.Â
Also: music helped, A LOT, as usual. Here’s the direct link to the playlist in case it doesn’t work…

*pauses, setting his cup down then turning to face the man again, quirking a brow* Are you threatening me? This isn’t exactly how most people go about starting a conversation.Â
Threat!? Â *raises his eyebrows as if the thought had never occurred to him* Â Gosh, no. Â Just makin' an observation. Â *he lets his eyes meet the other's though as he takes a sip of his coffee, wetting his lips as he sets it down* Â Most folks don't have near as much trouble startin' one either. Â *he points out, tone almost imperceptibly lower*Â
I’m sorry, I’m not really looking for conversation or socialization. I just want to enjoy my coffee in peace. *lifts his cup as though to show him said coffee and takes a drink from it, turning his body in the chair away from the stranger*Â
I imagine not. *purses his lips and watches the other's actions--and then he makes a bluff* Â 'Course I imagine a man like you might not want to make a scene, either.
*finally looks up at the other, both surprised and rather irritated now* What do you want?Â
*grins* Â Just a little conversation. Â That ain't so bad, is it? *sits back in his seat, crossing his legs* Â What brings you state side anyhow? Â *something really weird about this sickly looking French guy hmmmm*
*lets out a heavy sigh* Désolé, je ne parle pas l’anglais.
C'est très bien de moi.  Êtes-vous ici à partir de Paris, alors? *Cajun French passes his lips easily in return as he leans in, a smirk spreading over his features* Â
