belated starter for @mpcamazotz , location : ruyul’s shop
its not often that she has visitors within her tiny little herb shop, not especially since ruyul could have considered herself as much more of a little recluse than most of the individuals that lingered within MountPhoenix. one person, or rather god really that kept coming back to her shop. camazotz. she appreciated the way that he dropped by at times, as infrequent as it ever was and as few as he ever did. at the very least, it was a cause for interaction between her and the other god, even if she did keep much secrets from him, mainly minji, who she would always make sure to keep upstairs whenever visitors came around in the shop.
“morning.” a tight but wry smile flickers upon her lips as she raised a hand rather awkwardly in greeting to the god. “its been a while.” faint shuffling of her daughter’s footsteps could be heard up the stairs, allowing for the demigod to lightly make a note that her daughter had awoken, keeping her fingers crossed behind her back that minji hadn’t chosen to make her way down at the moment. “what are you looking for again?” she sucks in a reluctant breath as the door behind her swings open, and her daughter shuffles into bleary view of the god, her protective instinct and anxiousness shooting up in the charts massively as her foot started tapping upon the ground nervously.
“that’s my daughter, minji. she’s been upstairs most of the time.” it felt like a need for her to explain herself on why she had kept her child a secret from others in the shop, especially to camazotz, whom she had strangely achieved a sort of camaraderie in the moments that he had come to her shop for items. she watches as her daughter freezes, blankly staring into the air for a moment as she clutched tightly to the air above her shoulder, a frequent action that she saw of her child when they came across death gods, before slinking behind her back nervously, vanishing behind her frame as though to completely hide herself away from camazotz’s own sight.
“sorry, she’s a bit..wary of strangers. and she can’t..really see.” the words felt bitter in her mouth as she said it, a flash reminder of their past that caught up to them with detrimental means to an end. “anyway, back to you. whatcha looking for again?”
Ruyul was a peculiar demigod. She was pretty but hid herself away. She rarely spoke much anytime he visited, not that he minded. She was kind but held back, a lot. Camazotz was a curious god, and for that matter Ruyul had interested him. But although he often could be insensetive with his questions, even if he apologized if he crossed the line, he had not bothered the demigod with his curiosity. He visited her shop when he needed something, today that something being a present for his daughter, and when he was there simply observed her while they interacted before he took his leave again. Not every secret would be revealed by reaching out for the cloth covering it. He felt, in her case, asking wasn’t going to do much other than make her suspicious of him and want to reclude away. She seemed someone who one could only be acquianted with if you didn’t ask and let her be. Perhaps eventually someone would gain enough of her trust. Normally this wouldn’t have necessarily stopped him, but… With how she was Caça sensed this secret wasn’t one of embarassment. It seemed to be of sadness perhaps.
“Morning.” Camazotz replied in similar spirits as he had walked into the herb shop. The smells in the there were always quite lovely. Hence he’d come here for his present. “It has. I didn’t have anything I needed, but now I do.” Caça walked over to the counter behind which the woman stood as a comfortable expression, close to a smile but not quite it, was on his face. Rather it seemd polite, calm and like a fraction of honesty. “It’s for Anise, my daughter. Her birthday is coming up so I wish to surprise her.” Briefly he let a pause fall but then continued a moment later without faltering. He’d just give her a moment to process and perhaps get ideas. “She studies about mushrooms and such, and I was reminded of the lovely scent of your store. I was hoping we could arrange something, i’d like to give her a bottled scent. Something of nature, to keep in her home when she can’t be outside looking-” The door behind Ruyul swung open, which wouldn’t have stopped Camazotz if it wasn’t the sight of what came through it. His eyes were fixated and Ruyul noticed.
Ah, her daughter. And she had a visual impairment. That explained just _one _of the two kids he saw. The other was also far more puzzling, as it was a soul. Without saying much Caça his eyes slid over to Minji, head tilting to the side as he regarded her, clutching onto the dead. So the child knew there was someone else there. Yet Ruyul did not acknowledge the soul. As they slinked behind the demigod her back Caça still said nothing and kept his calm as he contemplated a few things. Then, eventually and slowly, meticulously, his gazed dragged up and met Ruyul’s. “That can wait. You didn’t mention a soul wandering around here.” His gaze pricked as he looked at her. This was interfering with his work. Lost souls… It was against what he did. His eyes had narrowed just a tad as he waited for her to answer. He wanted to hear what she had to say, he’d let her speak and explain if she could. But he also wasn’t just the friendly client coming for a present anymore now, he was now also the god of bats who couldn’t just let a soul slip by like that and remain.
