Hm well the thing is, Arthur is not literally Dutch’s son: Arthur’s dad was Lyle Morgan, not Dutch. Arthur and Dutch are not blood-related. Therefore, while one can make a pretty compelling argument that Dutch and Arthur have a relationship similar to a father-son-relationship, this changes nothing about the fact that they are not  father and son - hence, vandermorgan is not an incest ship. Whenever Arthur gets called “Dutch’s son” (be it by Micah, or by Dutch himself), it is always meant in a non-literal/metaphorical way.

So this part of your argument is disproved by canon. There is, however, another part to your argument: You claim that vandermorgan is somehow wrong or yucky cause “Dutch literally raised Arthur”.

Now, it is true that 1) Dutch and Arthur met when Arthur was just 14, 2) there is a five-year age gap between them, and 3) Dutch fulfilled a mentor role/parental role for Arthur (I think it’s very much open to interpretation whether Arthur saw Dutch more as a mentor/teacher or more as a father figure, but that’s beside the point - the fact remains that Arthur looked up to Dutch and saw him as an authority figure).

But all that does not make it wrong or immoral to ship vandermorgan!! I mean, yes, depending on how you interpret their dynamic, it can get pretty unconventional/complicated/messy - and there are many many interpretations of the vandermorgan dynamic in fics which I would never, ever enjoy or approve of if it was a real-life relationship.

But the point is, it’s not. It’s not real life. It’s fiction. It’s fandom. It’s fantasy. And in fiction/fandom it is very much allowed to ship unconventional/messy/problematic things. There is nothing wrong with that whatsoever. Art is free. Fandom is free. We can ship whatever we like. We’re allowed to ship vandermorgan. (And of course, you are allowed to not ship vandermorgan, to find it yucky, to ship vandermatthews instead, or Dutch/Molly, or Dutch/Angelo Bronte/Agent Milton, or Dutch/a mango tree. It’s all allowed!! We’re free!!)

But all that being said, your ask was worded in a pretty rude way - in the future, I won’t respond to asks with insults in them. (Cause it’s not exactly conductive to a good debate, and also because I don’t enjoy getting insulted). So please keep that in mind when sending me asks in the future!

(Politely worded asks about vandermorgan or Dutch are always welcome though!!)

But really, none of that matters. Any time spent with you is a dream.

Oh! My dear, I sincerely apologise. You know me - when I get busy planning, some things (no matter how pressing), slip my mind. In this case, unfortunately I forgot to tell you my answer sweetheart.

But don’t believe for a second that it’s because I hadn’t considered it. The thoughts that plagued my mind when you asked me that question - the things I wanted to do...

I’d scold you for one. Playful but stern. “I have told you before, do not interrupt my reading.” And when you laughed it off, I’d drop my book and my hand would fly to your throat as I pinned you to the bed - strands of your hair splayed across our pillow, tangling while you squirm beneath me.

I’d give it straight back. But harder, angrier. I’d bite at your throat, still gripping your slender neck under beastly hands - large and clawing and powerful. Of course, to remind you I love you, I’d lick over all those teeth marks I had left behind and pepper your skin with sweet, longing kisses.

Well, I find myself attracted to fiery women, most of the time. Women such as Susan and Molly... Seeing through their tough exterior and cracking it to get to the soft center - watching them break beneath me.

But then again, I could not keep my eyes off of the meek and dreamy Miss Mary-Beth. Like me, she’s often lost in a world of her own; lost in a hopelessly romantic daydream. I enjoy the thought of seeing her come undone, as I do with any little lamb I find - eyes all wide and unaware of the beast that’s been stalking them - that’s baring it’s teeth and snarling before their eyes.

So I suppose it depends on who catches my attention first...

And with regards to appearance? Oh, I suppose I find beauty in everyone. I’m seduced by the mind, primarily. The body comes second.

Thick or thin, tall or short... Man or woman, even. I’d say I prefer elegance, but I appreciate ruggedness too!
