ASSESSMENT 2 - PART B : WALK AND RUN CYCLE - CLICK ON THIS LINK!

REFLECTION:

My 6 best sketches from the past few weeks. Each drawings that I did shows some promising improvements and reflection base on each sketch that has a lot of detail and refinement , whereas some show more freely and emotion movement.

These drawings displayed the understanding and quality of life drawing. How to apply elements and principles of aesthetics and teaching the feel of body which I have explored through out this semester. The first is my gesture drawings, timing from 30 secs is one the most challenging task to accomplish to find that movement and flow, I think with my gesture drawing is overall decent since I’m finding it difficult to understand the flow, movement and proportion but manage to gain understanding after taking a lot of classes which I can freely find and identity that movement.

The 1- 5 mins drawings were another challenging task since its similar to the gesture drawings but a little refine detail such as adding tone and shadow to contours giving a better appearance and realistic feel. Overall, some of my drawings convey a strong sense of meaning and as well detailed parts and contours that I’ve added, some smudging has been applied to the work to create a sense of surroundings and direction of light hitting shadowy area’s and some strong darkening to the smooth line draws the user attention to that but not to strong since I wanna make the work balance.

The final one is the 25 mins drawing which is a task I can easily accept and take my time since this doesn’t require flow or movement, only identifying the weight of the body and start that as a starting point later builds up by adding some detail and refine contours. Overall, I like this time presence since I can easy set-up with out rushing and set a anchor point on relaxing. During the time I will always start the portion of the body and base concept, where I gradually work on other parts of the body and then, I add contours to make the design more appealing sometimes interplay of light and dark values on the surfaces of the body to make it more realistic and interesting depending on the light surrounding. The most engaging thing about this particular drawing is how the model is position and displays patience/stillness creates an interesting composition and a strong feeling that has been displayed.

Through out this semester I find this assessment engaging in life drawing since its only base on how you understand to apply measurement, proportion, various shapes, aesthetic, anatomical and gesture postures that approaches to drawing the human figure. Drawing from imagination is often lauded for the expressiveness it usually encourages, and criticized for the inaccuracies introduced by the artist's lack of knowledge or limited memory in visualizing the human figure; the experience of the artist with other methods has a large influence on the effectiveness of this approach. Overall, It’s truly interesting to improve on your drawing skills which I have been taking a lot as well its fun to observe how teachers demonstrate there skills and understanding of the fundamentals of animation. I’m going to continue pushing and honing my skills in drawing by taking more life drawing classes and pushing my limits.

Week 14- Sorry for posting pictures on the same blog, still don’t know how to put a blog next to each (up) by moving them. Anyway, this is the final week for our Assessment 2 A + B due this Friday, which is scary and exciting because this will be the very last time I will not post or do any life drawing and weekly news updates plus Holidays!. This week is to catch up with assessment 2 A: Life drawing, by drawing more gestures and composes time ranging to 30 secs - 2 mins and longer composes is 25 mins. Overall, I feel that my sketches are too blunt and not flowing with the movement of the model which I need to fix and try observing the weight of the body. I’m not used to quick gestural sketches because I’m used to still and patience whereas I cant quickly sketch since I’m slow and precise. With gestures it’s all about the flow and finding the weight of the line (Pictures bottom 3). With the 25 min drawing this took time and identifying body parts and sketching the proportions of it. I’ve find that it was more relaxing and I can easily give some refine details on them to look realistic but I feel that my drawing is still looks dull compared to other artists/peers which I’m envy them. This gives me more courage and improvements to keep pushing my skills and understanding of not just life drawing, but sketching objects and things as well which I will continue and improve myself.

Week 13- Here’s are some sketches from life drawing classes both QUT and my night classes. This week our teacher, Sorin, has given us the final announcement for our assessment 2- A: life drawing is due with our walk and run cycle on the humanoid. We been also taught to to properly measure and scale the head this is important in order to correctly make your drawing look refine and well presented. I’ve also practice on this method for the head which overall looks easy now and I can know how to determine on measuring it.

Reflection: Moving on wards to life drawing, I’ve presented some few sketches that I have been practicing in my night classes and at QUT in the afternoons. Most of these sketches are 1 mins and 5 mins. The one in the middle is 25 mins. I feel that I’ve tried to make my drawings look realistic and refine better but I’m still making them too darken and taking away some light area . The center sketch show some area of the body still have some lightly shaded but making the outline lines too dark and loosing attention on the body. Whereas, both sketches (left and right) show some light and gentle shading and lessen on dark tones which creates interesting composition.

Looking back to all my sketches in my sketch book I’ve always wanna improve every time and every day to keep on practicing. I’ve learn alot through this semester learning to properly to measure and correctly proportion but I’m still overall, haven’t memorized this properly sometimes which I have some difficulties to work on. Overall, I’m happy that as I progress and see how much I’ve been progressing I’ve improve alot since last semester. I’ve found that this course actually demonstrates and help me in improving my skills and showing me more potential which I’m always find it sometime changeling and engaging. I’ll also post my female and male walk and run cycles this week.

Week 12- Welcome back to another exciting day of life drawing class! Today our teacher, Sorin, has given us a brief over view of the assessment since its coming to near date and talked about the torso. Here are some sketches of my life drawing sketches from 1min and 25mins as well, found some few sketches from my Melbourne trip/excursion. I've tried to improve my sketches and found that I've been using too much detail whereas I suppose to be more freely but have some still difficulties with it as well proportion and measurement. I've tried prac ting my mistakes since over the breaks and hone them every single day in Melbourne, studying and understanding body parts and measurements. Overall, I'm doing my absolute best to improve myself and yet enjoy it which I am but I've still got a long way to do and I'll post my discussion on my humanoid walk and run cycle.

Week 11- Last day of Melbourne trip which was an awesome trip and experience to witness the beauty outdoors and unique city, the photo is the shot of the beautiful sunset of penguin island with my mate. During my holiday, I actually found myself a 1 day (life drawing )art class to work on and improve my life drawing skills and catching up on my assessment for the walk cycle… Which I have started that ages ago. Here’s are some few sketches of gesture and still poses (30 sec - 5 mins) I must say that lately I’m really wanna improve my skills and learn more refine details on gesture poses. Finding the weight and proportion was really hard for me. With my walk cycle, here's are some few sketches for my idea and identifying how each perspective will be presented for. I've also added timing chart on my drawing to be present on how the movement of the body and head will be display.I'm quite struggling with the back side view because I can't grasp and idea or how it will be presented which I find that frustrating to work on. However, overall I find that this week was really a good weekend to catch up and refine more ideas

Week 11- Having a good semester break with a mate at Brighton beach which I took some interesting long shots pictures. I find it really fascinating and the design for using pano shot is simply superb and creates a lot of interesting discussion. Anyway, I took the time and break on focusing and practicing on my arms concept which I've wanna improve on my life drawing , toning and visualising shapes which gives me ideas. Each sketch shows some refine details and some just quick sketch which I'm overall positive that I feel my sketching for life drawing is improving well but I've also find it difficult to still not the correct proportion and weight of each part of the arms. This week I'll try and get some pictures and sketches of my walk and run cycle before semester breaks ends.

Week 11- Here's some few sketches I did in my spare time over the semester break. Currently I'm in Melbourne and did some time site seeing places and looking for ideas for my walk cycle. I've found some inspiration when strolling through the shrine of remembrance for life drawing, found a good/decent quite area. I'm trying to improve on my gesture and toning at the moment, trying to imagine a model and using my surroundings but still can't grasp it, however, I tried numerous experiments with the lighting which creates an interesting appearances and the terrain is much difficult to actual draw since its slightly tilt. Overall, I’m enjoying my semester break I get a chance to go see some fantastic artworks and explore the heart-of- Melbourne while capturing intresting and amazing shots.

Week 10- This is the last of my life drawing session but I’ll continue doing more on my spare time for the semester break. I been trying to improve over the last few weeks on my gesture and proportion but I’ve still have some difficulties on my proportion and finding a central idea to start sketching. Usually, you have to identify/find a certain weight of the body in order to sketch. I still find that I’m having problems when it comes to time still(1min- 30sec) but the 10mins and 20mins more easy and help me identify a lot of areas I missed. The middles sketch is one of my best but stuff up because of the leg, which looks weird but overall the whole body looks very smooth and define. Here’s are my sketches from Monday classes as well my night classes.

Week 10- here's are some life drawing sketches of my walk cycle and sketching gestural poses.

Week 9- part 2 : more life drawing sketches at 2mins - 5mins. I prefer long and quiet sketching instead of short time frames which really makes want yo rush and make mistakes. I find it easy observing and measuring the proportion of the body which allows me to carefully yet quickly sketch the correct perspective. Here are some few good sketches.

Week 9- More life drawing classes! It's actually interesting and fun to sketch live models which gives me ideas for my next assessment for the all cycle. Here's are some 30 secs - 1mins poses which I literally dislike doing that time frame, however, it's always good challenge and improvements with your sketches instead making them perfect and neat.

Week 8- life drawing classes! Here’s some images/sketches of contact pose of the side view for my Human Character Walk and Run Cycles. Its quite hard sketch poses from sides view which I need to refine and improve. Overall, I feel I need to improve my define drawings for the walk cycle because I just feel like I haven't improve and need to do more sketching.

Week 8- life drawing classes!!! It's week 8 by next week our assessment 1 is due which I'm half way there. Not really fond of life drawing since it's not my strong point unlike others but recently over the last few months I've taken night art classes focusing and improving my drawing style. Here are some sketches of our exercise using quick pose sketches. I had few problems I always a habit of refining my sketches usually I make my sketches detailed and perfect but with this task it's about trying to find that curve centre which you only make quick and raft sketches with in the time limit: usually 5 minutes, 2-1mintues and 30 seconds. Week 7- At last, I put a lot of thinking and imagination working on my key frames, exercise and thumbnails for my flour sack bag animation. I’ve added slot of notes about what I want to include, change some few drawings and as well added some more action for my model more alive and real. I feel like this thumbnails is going over the time limit. I've also feel like some sketches I did are bad and tried to refine it more detail and clear but overall, happy with it and should recommend for Sorin to review it. So, I’ve received feed back from Sorin about my ideas he liked the design and concept of it but told need some fixing and take out some unnecessary key frames to keep it simple and short but overall, he thinks its good and should get started.

Week 8 - AT LAST!!! the flour bag is done and dusted wwwoohhhooo!!! Here’s my final representation and animation of the flour bag showing all the poses I’ve presented in my planning sketches. I’ve also found some few problems that needed to be fixed but overall, I’ve actually thinking that this assessment 1 was actually challenging which helped me improve on my sketching.

Week 7- Here are some few sketch concept for my flour sack animation giving me some few ideas what movement I want to give it and suggesting some few new ideas I want to include. I also looked at the lecture slides which talk about in cooperating the exercises which having been doing over the past few weeks. Also added some few notes and ideas I may want to change or better.

WEEK 6 - My reaction is done but feels like I want to improve it and make it more alive? but overall, I think it looks great and challenging because this would be a difficult yet excellent exercise to take part/experiment. The thumbnails that I’ve sketched did provide an good reference and ideas for my reactions.
