A tiny apartment.
It’s been awhile since I had a chance to decorate for just me. This was for a challenge over at LivingSims.

The new LivingSims tumblr - please update your link
We are moving our main stream tumblr to this domain, so that all of the staff can help macthekat find awesome content for you! Here you will find forum and magazine announcements. Info about our challenges. And what you will all come back for, curated pictures by all the awesome sims photographers out there! We will probably also feature take outs from the magazine as we tend to get way to many great picture to feature them all.
Theme theme is not quite done, but if you want in on the ground floor, now is the time to follow us!
Same company. Same Twin Pack. The women’s version is an extra $3.40 Bye. I got my Old Spice Twin Pack for $2.94 and it smells better.
Ladies do yourself a favor. Buy Old Spice. There are more scents to choose from, you get more deodorant for a cheaper price, the smell lasts longer.
Pink tax is so real its nauseating, they dont even try to hide it either
It’s so insulting, the least they can do is give us the same amount of product if they’re going to charge 50% more! Women’s deodorant is about 2.4 oz across the board. Men’s is 3.0 oz.
I ain’t smelling like my dad, just fucking get rid of the pink tax. Seriously, petition to get that shit gone. I like smelling like fresh powder and flowers because normally I smell like nasty spoiled milk or coffee grounds.
While the pink tax is a real thing that needs to be gotten rid of, this particular case is not a good example.
The pictures show men’s twin packs at $3.97 compared to women’s twin packs at $7.37 which is a huge difference HOWEVER the men’s is the standard deodorant while the women’s has MotionSense and it is therefore comparing two separate products.
Looking at Walmart’s online page you can see that the women’s base twin pack is also $3.97 and the men’s twin pack with MotionSense is $7.37. The men’s IS 2.7 ozs. to the women’s 2.6 ozs. so it is ever so slightly cheaper that is true, but if you want to call out the totally unfair practice of the pink tax you should at least pick a better example. There are plenty to chose from.
Unfortunately, this was the only Degree twin pack available for women to purchase in store. So, no, my comparison still stands as a viable example to use.
Well then, that does make a difference as availability is part of the pink tax. Carry on. :)

row, i wanted to ask your opinion on the term "white feminism" and how common feminism might exclude women of color and non cis/queer women (ex: women are stonger bc they have periods! or men dont have to think about how they dress when in public!)
Hi! This is such an important thing to be discussing. I have made a very big point at making sure my personal feminism includes everyone- and educating myself and discussing these topics have really helped.
Issues that are commonly thought of as feminist issues include sexual assault, rape, abortion, Planned Parenthood, domestic violence, equal education, and the wage gap. Feminists have also adopted marriage equality and gay/lesbian rights as their issue which is wonderful.
However, with as many issues as feminists have succeeded in adopting, many of us seem to have not accepted the fact that police brutality and race issues are our issues too.
“White feminism” forgets all about intersectional feminism. The way a black woman experiences sexism and inequality is different from the way a white woman experiences sexism and inequality. Likewise with trans-women and Hispanic women. While white women are making 78 cents to the dollar, Native American women are making 65 cents, black women are making 64 cents, and Hispanic women are making 54 cents. Kimberlé Crenshaw said it perfectly in 1989 when she said “The view that women experience oppression in varying configurations and in varying degrees of intensity. Cultural patterns of oppression are not only interrelated, but are bound together and influenced by the intersectional systems of society. Examples of this include race, gender, class, ability, and ethnicity.” This includes trans women especially, who have been robbed of their souls when they are told they are not “real women” It is SO important to protect trans women and trans youth as they are incredibly at risk when it comes to sexual assault and hate crimes. People also seem to forget that black women are victims of police violence too- from Sandra Bland to India Clarke- a trans woman who was beaten to death in Florida just a month ago.
The fact that when Amandla Stenberg wrote this beautiful and truthful piece http://instagram.com/p/5D-u1Vm1c8/ she was automatically labeled the “angry black girl” says enough. We are so quick to applaud white women for commenting on race issues/discussions like #BlackLivesMatter, and #SayHerName, but when a black girl comments on it- she is told she is overreacting or being angry.
Comments like the ones you mentioned in your question drive me insane. I have personally seen men get called gay/ f**/ pu*** for wearing anything even remotely feminine. Gay is simply not an insult. Also, let’s not forget that black men cannot wear hoods without being stereotyped as thugs.
To only acknowledge feminism from a one sided view when the literal DEFINITION is the equality of the sexes is not feminism at all. We need to be talking about this more. Discussion leads to change. Xo, Row
Hey, I've seen you use the word histrionic(s) a few times, and I'm not sure you should. Not only is there actually a Histrionic Personality Disorder (which has its own issues), it stems from and often replaces the word "hysterical" which has a documented misogynistic history. I might be overreacting but I figured it couldn't hurt to contact you about it. (In the sake of full disclosure, I do not personally have HPD.)
There are many words that have genuine uses that have been attached to personality disorders. Narcissistic, borderline, antisocial, passive-aggressive, sadistic, self defeating and even dependent.
Also, as far as I understand the meaning and root of the word is was meant to be applied to acting, an overzealous onstage performance can be labelled as histrionic.
I agree that some words are ableist and have always had that intention and should not be used. But the medical community co-opting regular words and trying to use them for ill conceived notions of personality disorders is not something I am interested in supporting.
There words have genuine use and rarely are there people who associate these words purely with personality disorders. As someone with a personality disorder I am personally interested in keeping it that way.
I was actually speaking more about the misogyny of the word. It’s still similar to and synonymous with “hysterical” which is both ableist and misogynistic. But I do see where you’re coming from as well.
But histrionic and hysterical are not … interchangeable words? They are not even synonyms. Histrionic is not a new word, nor does it replace hysterical so the only connection these two words seem to have is in the same area of medicine that comes up with shitty names for personality disorders and seems to think women’s emotions in and of themselves are a disorder.
I don’t want to disrespect anyone who may have HPD, but I am incredibly fucking sketchy on the whole concept and how intrinsically it is linked to “feminine” traits.
I don’t want to derail this, but BPD is a personal example of how fucking horrible the naming systems are treatment of personality disorders are. And the only link between those two words is the aforementioned shitty, misogynistic medical community that I feel fairly determined to avoid.
I hate to be that guy but hysterical and histrionic are both from Latin BUT have completely different etymologies.
Hysterical, as @aheartfilledwithlight mentioned, comes from hystericus which comes from the ancient word for womb and does indeed have a misogynist history and is a word i would personally try to avoid.
Histrionic, on the other hand, comes from histriōnicus which means pertaining to acting and describes a similar condition without the misogynist baggage.
The two sound very similar but, like pen and pencil, actually have very different roots.
Sorry for my mistake. I didn’t do enough research. I was wrong.
Completely understandable mistake, no harm done. :)

Words you never expect to have to say...
to you daughter.
“Did you just growl at me?”
When you have an ocular migraine, this is pretty much what everything looks like. :P
I get something similar that I used to think were ocular migraines. I have since learned that what I get is called scintillating scotoma and it happens across both eyes as opposed to the one that ocular migraines occur in. I get a nauseated feeling sometimes and the occasional migraine afterwords but usually they have no other effects than visual aura.
I suspect from @kaylaconspiracy’s description that it might be what she has.
This diet might not be too bad after all.
