In all of fallout media the audience meets only two (2) legion women. One tells Lucy not to get raped by the “wrong people” (implying legionaries) and the other tells a female courier to watch out for legionaries, who’ve been talking about wanting to “try her out”

As a survivor of sexual assault and various Bad things this is what interests me so much in specifically Legion women. The Legion is explicitly misogynistic in almost every horrible extreme you can think of. Imagine a Pre-War woman, with almost every right and freedom assumably in her name, and her distant granddaughter ends up in such sadistic, inhumane conditions as being a legionary’s wife and slave. Women’s anatomy and personhood are fought for, and after a nuclear war, are in some places completely disregarded and degraded. This compels me because I think it’s realistic, given the horrific treatment of women in the past and contemporarily. I think some groupings of humanity would run very quickly to oppressive misogyny after non-nuclear society fell, and the Legion is a prime vehicle for this

My biggest wish is that we (the audience) got to speak with more Legion women. The fandom is so male-centric precisely because nearly every Legion character is male, which, in my opinion, makes it easy to ignore or sexualize the contextual misogyny when engaging in Legion content. Legion women aren’t really allowed to be full characters within the canon, or be individually sympathetic, because they are not even present to represent themselves. This, of course, is another show of the Legion’s systematic misogyny, but look at Siri’s character. She is not fleshed out, the courier cannot free her, and she is doomed to aimlessly wander Caesar’s camp even after it’s been completely wiped out. New Vegas had a notoriously messy production, but this lack of foresight or care in the creation of the only female Legion speaking npc present in the entire game is indicative of the devs’ own misogyny
