oh lisa swain... i get it, i really do. i get that you haven't been with anyone in 3 years. i get that you were in a loving, committed relationship for a long time before that. i get that you're scared. i get that you have that constant sticky, scary thought that carla might change her mind at any given point. i get that before you, there was no one like you for her, you're the first. i get that that must feel like you might lose her after she comes to her senses because what could she possibly see in a woman after a lifetime of men? what could she see in you? i get it. but babygirl, the only one having doubts here is you! she's just learning to walk, and you're forcing her to run! and she will, for you, of course she will! but how long before she gets tired?

it’s so fascinating to watch lisa be so out of her element with dating. she hasn’t had to do this for, what, potentially the better part of twenty years? and now the very first relationship that she’s in after a long term marriage is with a woman who has only ever previously dated men? and she is floundering. she is so insecure. she is looking for problems. she is expecting the worst. and it’s so obvious to see that she is so afraid because she wants this to work out so badly, but her own actions are what’s getting in her way, are and consistently have been what push carla away. it’s the ‘i’d be useless at casual’ it’s the ‘i’m the one that doesn’t show feelings’. the way she wants to skip the messy beginning and enjoy a well-established relationship with no surprises, and the way she’s going to spiral anew when carla tells her that she loves her. the walking contradiction that is lisa swain, out of her depth, begging for patience, terrible at granting it to herself—or others, for that matter. what a woman
