Donald Ressler {LISTEN HERE}
He is the FBIās straight-shooting, rule-abiding special agent Boy Scout, breaking down doors (and breaking hearts?) all over D.C. He wears the hell out of a suit and Kevlar, and you know he means business when his hand moves instinctively from his waist to the edge of his gun. He chased Reddington for years, even leading a formal mission to assassinate him in Brussels, and later devoted weeks to hunting down his own partner (and potential romantic interest?) Agent Elizabeth Keen, when she was framed for murder and a slew of other federal crimes.Ā To most he is Ressler, to some Don or Donnie, to Red he is Donald and to Tom he was once āher boyfriend.āĀ
He lost the only thing he truly loves in this world and his job is all that he has left, or so he has said. Although much of his past is still relatively unknown, I think he has a whole lot more to live for, personally, professionally, romantically. He is not just a dog chasing a scent or a calculated cop. He leads a more pensive, rigorous and sometimes compassionate profession. He protects the country in the name of justice and morality, not revenge, and he saves lives. He tries with every fiber of his being, often to a fault, to get the job done promptly, proficiently and accordingly, all while sticking to ethics and values ā but he will back his colleagues and friends in an instant if he thought they were innocent. Ressler is a thoughtful, strong-willed, tactical man of honor, capable of wit, charm and the occasional moment of tenderness.Ā
Note: Not to worry, softer, more sensitive and personal themes coming soon. (Iām a die-hard Keenler fan, remember? I see the absolute good in this man.) Although, I do think some of these lyrics, melodies and overall vibes reflect a very deep and intimate side of Ressler, being that his career is a tremendously crucial part of not only his lifestyle, but also his being. He has become the FBI special agent, itās not just a job. Itās so much more than that. Ressler does this for a reason, heās fighting for a cause, or multiple causes. He is trying to fulfill something in his life; attain or accomplish a greater goal and though that core intention may have not been actualized just yet, he is getting closer. Ressler thinks he has nothing left in this world except for his job, but I think he has so. much. more. The task force needs Ressler.
