Thank you for responding to my letter so quickly! Alreadye I am enthused.
Although I had seen this new lettere 'W' before, I was unaware that iyt had the same purpose as "uu". The progression of language is trulye amazing.
As for Aridia, iyt iys quite hot and sandye, nothyng much to report in that ayrea. For an Assassin such as yourself, nothyng is much iynteresting. There is legend of gold around here, but the best treasure hunters are styll stumped. I hope we can procure gold soon though. It would help Mr. Lipw my eymployer out.
I hope that, although this is notte partte of your usual job descryptyon, you are notte iynconveynienced by my request. It is a verye large help. As for storiyes, how about yourself? I would be very iynterested in knowing your side of some contraycts, iyf you would be willing.
P.S., I thought your drawing was verye iympressive. Is it a crest or a pet? I have also included a drawing of my own on the back.

Dear Knowledge, Language is amazing, isn't it? There have been many treatises on its development that I have read, and I may mention that the "e" at the end of a word typically indicates a preceeding vowel in the word being a long form, or that the word is a borroeing from another language (this is unfortunately rather a case-by-case basis, such is the way of Morporkian). Further, this is indeed no inconvenience, academia has always interested me. And you are correct that I do not have much interest in gold, I value my work for the skill of performance required.
For example, on my very first assignment it had started raining extremely heavily, and of course that house had locked windows. Have you ever tried to pick a lock in pouring rain? I was thoroughly soaked by the time I got in, which, aside from being decidedly unpleasant, made me rather detectable. I usually prefer the use of daggers, they are quick and clean when properly sharpened, but the contractor had requested a specific poison - ricin if I recall correctly - and the easiest way to accomplish this was to sneak into a dinner party. This was similarly unpleasant to being drenched in rainwater, particularly for me, and I was required to remain hidden until it was clear which glass was my target's, since poisoning the wrong person is frightfully bad form.
I was discovered by guards but only sustained superficial injuries and managed not to inhume anyone in the proceeding conflict, and successfully tampered with the correct glass when place cards were set. After all that, my payment ended up being extremely late since it is reliant on a confirmed death and, while initial ricin poisoning symptoms typically occur in the first ten hours as I am sure you're aware, my target took an extremely long time to d

It is always a pleasure to write to someone receptive to stories of my profession. Additionally, would you give Mr Lipwig my best wishes? We have met before and I am afraid I made a poor impression.
P.S., The falcon is my pet, Mouse. Thank you very much, your drawing also shows skill
