as a senior with 4 days until finals due, it would be suuuuuper chill if people could return books that have been recalled. especially when that book is almost 2 weeks overdue anyway
I'd rather be in outer space đ¸

as finals season is upon us, I feel that it's time for a friendly reminder: no matter how you do academically, you are loved, intelligent, valuable, and deserve to be here. I promise.
well uh I'm getting ready to move in for the last time!! wtf? I feel like I just started at bryn mawr, but also like I've been there for my entire life. it's such an odd feeling, time at college. on the one hand, it's a very short period of my life, relatively speaking. on the other hand, it's been the most formative period of my life thus far, for better or for worse. I'm interested to see what new adventures (what fresh hell?) this year will bring. I am trying to remain positive about schoolwork/thesis despite semi wanting to die already. but I am very excited to see friends again. leaving tomorrow and moving in friday. let's do this. senior year here goes nothing
Happy Lantern Night!

Hell Week is now Welcome the First Years (WTF) Week
âStudents today announced the name of Bryn Mawrâs updated Hell Week tradition, âWelcome the First Yearsâ or âWTFâ week. The new name was revealed at an afternoon gathering of students on campus.
Equal parts irreverent and affirming, the tradition will be a week of fun and bonding between the first year and upper class students. Students are continuing to develop the tradition and will share details after the end of the fall semester.â
https://www.brynmawr.edu/news/students-announce-name-new-tradition
I canât say that Iâm personally thrilled with this name change but at least we have a name.... (And word on the street is that this new name is only for official purposes, and students face no repercussions for continuing to refer to it as Hell Week)

happy parade night, 2019!
donât forget, stay until the end!
so ms-mawrter is abroad this semester! itâs been a while since iâve posted, and i meant to update this blog with more study abroad adventures.
but i havenât really had many. itâs weird, but i just canât settle down here. at this point in the semester (just over a month in) my first year at bryn mawr, i felt so at home and loved. and i had friends- maybe we werenât as close as we are now, but we were definitely on the path there.
here, i havenât met anyone like that. i donât really have any friends yet at all. and i donât know how to go about making them. itâs so hard, out of a dorm environment and in such a big school (the university of cape town). i have housemates, but it seems like theyâre not interested in being friends with me. they do things together, never even thinking to ask me along or even tell me that theyâre going out.
i donât know if i like being abroad. itâs all i was looking forward to when i applied to colleges, and bryn mawrâs great opportunities are one of the reasons i initially looked at the school. but... now that iâm here? iâm just always uncomfortable and out of place. i donât know if iâll be able to settle down here.
everyone else i know who went abroad loved it and came back with amazing friends and memories and desperately wants to go back... but i donât even know if i want to stay the rest of the semester (like, i will, because i donât get refunds on anything and thatâs a lot of money, but i donât really WANT to).
i canât even make friends through clubs, because weâre only allowed to join 3 without paying (& i donât have the money to pay for extra clubs) and none of the ones i joined have emailed me back, which is the only way to find out about meeting times or events.
any former study-abroad mawrters with tips or advice on how to settle in? did any of you ever feel the same way? how did you get over it? what helped? iâm desperate.
ok so bmc can send us study abroad students emails about construction that isnât going to affect us but not about updates on hell week stuff which definitely 100% affects us??

AND HELL WEEK BEGINS
BLACK LIVES MATTER: DIE-IN, MARCH, & VIGIL
Please join the students of the Tri-College (Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore Colleges), Villanova, Harcum, Rosemont, etc., and the Lower Merion community in a Main Line Die-In, March, and Vigil. In this country, a Black person is killed every 28 hours by those who are supposed to protect the people â the police. The recent grand jury decisions in Ferguson and New York City have sparked protests throughout the country. The people participating in these protests are hurt, angry, and calling for action and justice. These protests have largely been limited to cities, but issues of police brutality and discrimination extend far beyond our largest cities, existing in the suburbs as well. This demonstration pushes the Main Line to recognize, and feel these injustices and the outrage that has followed. The organizers, students at Bryn Mawr College, extend the invitation to the entire Lower Merion community, and beyond. âIf you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.â â Desmond Tutu Itâs time to end the silence. THIS IS A 3 PART DEMONSTRATION: 1.DIE-IN We ask that everyone arrive at Bryn Mawr Collegeâs Pembroke Arch (located on N. Merion Rd.) beginning at 4:30 p.m., and prepare to walk into the town of Bryn Mawr at 4:50. Once we arrive at the Lancaster Ave. & Elliott Ave. intersection (in front of Starbucks), we will drop to the ground. The die-in will last for 4.5 minutes to represent the 4 and a half hours Michael Brownâs body was left lifeless on the ground. During this moment, we ask that non-Black POC and white allies SIT in solidarity during this time but not lay down as the dead. 2. MARCH We will then march down Lancaster Ave. to Haverford College. When we arrive at Haverford, we will hold a 4.5-minute moment of silence. We will then loop back onto Montgomery Avenue and march back to Bryn Mawr College. 3. VIGIL We will gather at Bryn Mawr College (in front of Merion Green) for a candlelight vigil. Here is a timeline of the events: 5:00 - Depart from Pembroke Arch (N. Merion Avenue), march to the intersection of Elliot Avenue & Lancaster Avenue 5:10 - Die-In at the intersection of Elliot Avenue & Lancaster Avenue (will last for 4.5 minutes) 5:20 - March down Lancaster to/through Haverfordâs campus 5:50 - Arrive at Founders Hall for 4.5 minutes of silence 6:00 - Depart from Haverford, cross over to Montgomery Avenue from Haverford Station Rd. (where the train station is) and march to Bryn Mawr on Montgomery Avenue 6:30 - Arrive at Bryn Mawrâs campus to gather on Merion Green for a candlelight vigil. 7:00 - The vigil and event will conclude.
Comment from Facebook Page:
âFor anyone that is concerned about personal safety and procedure, I just wanted to let everyone know that we ARE in compliance with all protest regulations, and there will be officers present to block traffic. We have been in direct contact with the Lower Merion Police Department, and they have expedited the permit process for us so that we CAN LEGALLY MARCH in the streets and disrupt traffic, instead of remaining on the sidewalks. As part of the march continues after the sun has set, you are encouraged to bring a flashlight if you have one as not all streets are well-lit.â
Canaday should invest in beds... I want to go to bed but also it's way too cold to go all the way back to my dorm.
Me on that midterm
Who's up for getting hit by the blue bus with me? just enough for our tuition to get paid.
Students at Bryn Mawr College rallied Friday for a better policy to address issues like the one arose when a confederate flag was displayed in a dorm on campus.
#ifiwas / #becauseiam demonstration 3:30pm in pem arch tomorrow afternoon, 9/19. bring signs with approved slogans if you have them and wear all black.
