âThutmose⌠Thutmose⌠Where are you?â With furrowed brows and stubborn determination, Evelyn slowly walked down the library aisles trying to find what she was looking for. Surely they would have it. Finally about to give up, she grinned brightly when she looked up and saw the book. However, it was on the highest shelf. Not seeing a step-stool or a ladder, she looked at the next bookcase. The bookcases were pretty close together, so this might work⌠Taking a deep breath, she placed her right foot on one of the lower shelves and held on to a higher shelf before grabbing another shelf on the opposite bookcase with the book she was wanting and stepped on one of itâs lower shelves with her left foot. Slowly and carefully, she climbed each shelf one at a time until she got to her book and was about a foot and a half above the ground. Her right hand held tightly on a shelf on the opposite bookcase as she grabbed the book and smiled victoriously. âGotcha!â Now how is she going to get down?
Today, Stephanie had actually been on top of her studies which meant that the research for the paper that she was working on, was now done. After sheâd taken down all of the information that she needed from the book in her hand, the brunette retraced her steps to put the book back in its rightful spot. Once she set the book back on the shelf it came from, her brow raised at the girl scaling the shelves, sheâd gotten up with enough ease but was now contemplating how to get down. âJust jump, mate,â the girl suggested, âyouâre only about this high off the ground,â she showed the measured distance with her hands. The ballerina often leaped higher, she was sure the other would be alright. âGo for a landing on the balls of your feet and youâll be alright.â
Once a week during lunch, Chantal would sneak off to whatever classroom was closest to spend the hour in. She craved the peace and quiet some days as the stress from cheer, AP classes, extracurricular activities, and home life would drain all the energy from her. Opening the door to one of the math teacherâs classrooms, she noticed it was occupied. âSorry, hope Iâm not interrupting anything.â she said, though she hadnât really cared if she was, and stepped into the room. Â
Stephanieâs class had ended a good fifteen minutes ago and if sheâd had things her way, she would have been out of that classroom and on her way to the studio. Instead, her âother halfâ who happened to have the same maths class she she did, decided to pick an argument with her. The door closed to help hush the near yelling going on but everything came to a halt when the door creaked open. Clearing her throat, Steph eyed the door and offered a smile, actually glad for the interruption as she was losing her own patience. âNo, love, youâre fine,â The Brit assured Chantal as she walked in.
Gage tapped her pencil against the table, reviewing notes for the next AP history test. While she maintained her 4.0 GPA, History was never her strong suit unless they were studying Alexander Hamilton (âHamiltonâ, the musical was the perfect study guide for her). She was so zoned out that it took her a moment to realize someone was speaking to her. âOh! Iâm sorry, what was that?â
Stephanie was supposed to be doing her maths assignment, but the only thing that seemed to be getting done at the moment was her doodling in her notebook mindlessly. The brunette noticed the other across from her taking into account the history book in front of her, âI just said I donât know whatâs worse, history or maths.â Honestly she was just looking for a distraction from the assignment that she wasnât working on anyway.
hey whats up hello! im taylor and im amped to be here i canât wait to get plotting and writing with all of you! below is her bio if you wanna check it out. if youâre interested in plotting, you know what to doâŚ
Stephanie was born and raised in Kensington, UK . Her father is a hedge fund manager and her mother is a socialite who also runs her own boutique.
So far sheâs had normal, well to do upbringing and her parents are exactly what you would expect when you imagine people who come from âold money.â Sheâs no stranger to the Society Pages but has had no problem catching the attention of The Sun over the years either, much to the dismay of her parents. This is why she was sent to school in the States.
While her parents are quite stuck up, Steph on the other hand is not. As one can imagine, this led to many misunderstandings in her childhood and still continues to. She is more of a free spirit while her parents are trapped in their conventional ways. Thankfully sheâs still able to put on a good show when she knows sheâs expected to by attending galas and things of that nature that she knows are expected of her due to her parentâs status. (Best of both worlds, really!)
As soon as she was old enough, Stephanieâs parents enrolled their little princess in ballet class and there was no looking back from there. She had a natural talent that only progressed as she got older. The ballerina has a love hate relationship with the art. She loves ballet but hates how much discipline and focus it takes while sheâs doing it. The classes and rehearsals are the bane of her existence, but she thrives being on stage. Thereâs no one there telling her what do to, counting steps, asking her to repeat variations and she can zone out and do her thing.
Stephanie hopes to dance professionally some day.
Although she does a fantastic job of remaining poised and graceful onstage, off stage, not so much. As soon as sheâs done performing, she lets her hair down (literally and figuratively) and is focused on having a good time. She feels that life is much more fun when itâs a party, so her carefree, live it up attitude typically makes it easy for her to make friends.
As to be expected, with this kind of lifestyle, Steph finds everything about self-indulgence to be completely normal. Limits? What are those? Her hedonistic tendencies are a cop out for having to deal with anything ârealâ. Why deal with shitty situations when you could be having fun?
Like most parents, hers only want whatâs best for their little girl forever and always. To them that didnât just mean the privileges that she grew up with, but those that would continue on.  Thatâs where the Hamlinâs come in. They were close family friends of the Hartâs, as they all grew up together. It was a no brainer that they had figured out early on that their son, Adam, would be âPrince Charmingâ to âPrincessâ Stephanie. He came from a wealthy family, was handsome, intelligent, and next in line to take over his fatherâs software company which would in turn mean a secure and stable life for Steph.  Adamâs parents couldnât have agreed more that Stephanie would make a fantastic wife one day. The couple did a fantastic job of keeping up the fairytale façade though as luck would have it, things were completely different behind closed doors. (Adam is a NPC, bc letâs be real, its a nightmare. Unless of course someones wants to play him.Iâm all for it. . It all started out like a fairytale and was all well and good, but now sheâs starting to realize thatâs sheâs completely over it. This will absolutely lead to drama some way or another! And someone being her escape from Adam is a most definite wanted connection.)
On one hand, if Stephanie is granting you her attention, sheâll make you feel like youâre the only person in the room. On the other hand, she can be easily distracted. When that happens sheâs likely miles away in her own head, even though itâs unintentional.
Steph is a little bit all over the place. Sheâs totally random but LOADS of fun! Sheâs the friend thatâs randomly texting you at 4am to ask if you think mermaids are real.
Ezra paid attention to the way that Stephanie completely powered off her phone so she wouldnât even be tempted to look at it anymore, and while a selfish part of him was grateful that likely meant most of her attention would now be on him, another part was more concerned about what was going on thatâd made her feel the need to do that. âProbably is just busy work. Soâs this English paper.â He told her when she asked what he was working on, reaching out to grab her chair so he could tug it toward his own and have her sit closer to him at the library table, a glint in his eyes that gave him away for being up to no good, âI think that means you should let me distract you.â He suggested, running his fingers along her forearm and letting them dance across the heel of her hand, tracing her palm, âPromise Iâll be a much better distraction than your phone.â
As much as she would hate to admit it outloud, she was starting to understand why some people might have two phones, being able to avoid certain calls or texts while still having full use of a phone. Not that Steph would ever go to that extreme but she probably wouldnât turn down the opportunity to be able to leave any contact with her parents or her boyfriend behind in her room whenever she pleased. âI honestly donât understand having to write so many papers. Iâm never going to have to do that in real world, whatâs the point in doing it now?â The brunette lifted her feet to aid in the process of moving her chair, though he did it with ease. Tiny goosebumps trickled up along her skin at his light touch, her eyes glancing at his hand before shifting up to meet his gaze. âI have no trouble believing that. Thatâs a promise you always live up to,â the fingers of the hand in his grasp curled up slightly to brush against his own.Â
âOh.. yeah..â he nodded in response to her question. âIâm supposed to write a three page essay on Puritanism in American Literature. So far I got⌠Well.. Nothingâ he chuckled. He knew that Puritans had a large influence in American literature. But, still his mind was else where and he couldnât get himself to form a complete thought. âYou wanna distract me for a bit?â he asked, waving his hand in a gesture to offer her a seat.
âNothing?â She clucked her tongue at him, as if she was disappointed, but it was a feigned and ironic emotion, as she actually understood where he was coming from. âI canât imagine why, the subject sounds so...riveting.â Her tone was sarcastic and perhaps a bit sympathetic as she took a seat. âDistraction is the way to go. I think even a game of noughts and crosses might be more fun than writing a paper,â the Brit joked.Â
Quentin was well aware that he was falling behind in most of his classes, due to the month he decided to take off. Being a rock star definitely had its perks but, it also how itâs flaws, and falling behind in school was one of the biggest ones. Sitting at the picnic table outside in the court yard, he had his books sprawled out in front of him. He had a three page essay due that was way late. But, he just starred at the blank paper in front of him, tapping a rhythm in his head with his pencil. It wasnât until someone approached him that he was pulled from his thoughts and he looked up at them a bit confused. He hadnât heard a word they had said but, he smiled anyway. âUh.. What was that?â he asked with a soft chuckle, chewing his bottom lip and giving them his full attention.
Being stuck inside wasnât something that Stephanie was able to deal with any longer than she absolutely had to. The day had already felt extraordinarily long being cooped up inside wasnât helping that. As soon as her classes let out for the day, she couldnât be happier to get out and get some fresh air. The Brit was more or less just strolling, back to her dorm, but taking her time as she had no desire to get started on homework yet. Thatâs when she noticed the male sitting alone, tapping his pencil, it was a look she knew well, as she often found herself doing the same thing with certain assignments. âI was just asking if you were stumped. Whatâs your assignement on?â It wasnât likely that she could help but, it didnât hurt to ask.Â
Keeping Stephanieâs gaze almost challengingly, Daphne nodded at her words but made a mental note of that very moment. Keeping her head still, only her gaze drifted to the phone as she flipped it face-down and she released a small sight. âI didnât actually come in here to work on anything.â She revealed. âJust saw my lovely Stephanie in distress⌠from afar, of course, and felt the need to rescue her. But, alas, sheâs a warrior. âSince when do you hang out in the library anyway? Or were you actually working on something?â
âJust flitting about in the library in case anyoneâs in distress...â Steph trailed off raising a brow and shaking her head with a chuckle, ânot all heros wear capes, as they say,â she adds, an ironic tone lacing her voice. âIâm not hanging out in the library,â the Brit explained with a roll of her eyes. âIâm attempting to get this paper finished but as it turns out concentrating on Beowulf isnât going well. Thought I might be more successful here where there could be less distractions.â
Hannah had just been looking for a place to sit in the library where there was nobody who annoyed the shit out of her present, and so far, since it was rather packed that period for some reason, that was proving to be a difficult task. She thought it was a gift from above when she saw Steph sitting by herself, so she went over to have a seat at the same table as her. She was a bit confused by how she reacted to being joined by her, but she realized sheâd been looking annoyed at her phone before so she thought to ask, âWhatâs up your butt?â
Pulling all of the materials that she wasnât using anyway to the side, she made some room for Hannah and her belongings. âI didnât realize how much I had spread out over here. This assignment is complete rubbish, thatâs what. Itâs like this book is in another language and Iâm supposed to write a five page paper on it.â
Ezra had just found the book he needed for a report of his own that he had due tomorrow afternoon when he spotted Steph sitting on her own in the library. She didnât seem to be studying since her laptop was open and abandoned on the table in front of her while she scrolled on her phone, and she didnât look very happy either, so naturally he took that as his cue to go and bother her. He sauntered over and pulled a chair out so he could join her, watching her move her things so he could join her, but he wasnât expecting her hear the tone she used when she addressed him, âSâalright. You okay?â He asked curiously, setting his bag and the found book down on the table in front of him in the space sheâd made.Â
Eventually, the dancer decides to just power off her phone and set it down, there was no need to continue letting it cause her any more aggravation. Setting it down she would look at the book beside her and then at her laptop. A long sigh left her lips as she glanced over at Ezra sitting down as well, âyeah. Just donât quite understand why reading a midwives tale and writing a paper on it is necessary. This book and this entire assignment are completely pointless. I think itâs just busy work. What are you working on?â
âI donât mind. I never mind.â Ezra assured her, keeping his arms around her and even doing a bit of playful swaying back and forth just to try and lighten her mood. He knew that homesickness was one of those heavy feelings that sat on your chest and weighed you down, that it could be hard to combat, and attempts to do so were best made by distraction. âI think maybe I could- can be very persuasive. Though I donât think theyâd like me much.â He half-joked along with her, but they both knew there was more truth to it than anything; he parents couldnât possibly know he even existed, given her situation. âAnd besides. If you transferred back home, Iâd miss you, and Iâm too selfish for that.â
âYou really do always know just what to say,â she admitted to him as she leaned in, resting her chin on his shoulder for a few moments, just giving herself a little time to breathe through it. She would get over the feeling of homesickness of course, it was just something that she had to get off of her chest and Steph knew that Ezra wouldnât make her feel like a baby for missing home. âYou certainly are persuasive. Have you honestly met many people who donât like you?â she found that hard to believe, his fun loving personality was contagious. Though, clearly, her parents were quite stuck up so fun wasnât high on their to do list. âIâd miss you too. Finding someone else who will put up with me the way you do might not be an easy task,â she added with a chuckle.Â
âAstutely put,â Daphne sighed, crossing a leg over the other and folding her hands in her lap. âAnd what about what seems to have you so unimpressed?â She pried, already recognizing that if Stephanie wanted to talk about it, she would have told her upon the first question. Her roommateâs following words caused a feigned grin to slip onto her lips. âA pretty girl like you?â She insisted, lifting a brow again. âSomething gives me in inkling that thatâs debatable but Iâm sure,â she paused for the dramatic measure, âthereâs no reason to worry then.â
Taking in a deep breath, the brunette ran a hand through her hair as she looked at her roommate âI appreciate your concern but it honestly isnât even worth talking about.â After giving a nod she would turn her phone over and place it face down on the table top. âWhat did you come here to work on?â She asked, more than ready to just change the subject.
âi think someone is snitching on meâ taking a seat at the table, not even bothering to notice the sour mood her counterpart was in, raising an eyebrow when she said sorry, confused slightly, âyeah itâs sad, i guess iâm staying in tonightâ hence the books she had in her hands, âstudyingâ her tone laced with sarcasm, as she opened one of her books, glancing over at the other girl now, âare you alright? because i have vodkaâÂ
âSnitching to who about what?â Steph questioned, a brow raising with curiosity. âHopefully you can get more done than I have if you need it to help your grade,â The girl finally decided to just power off her phone, maybe if the source of her aggravation was turned off she would be able to devote her time to something else. âI wonder if drinking would help me ramble my way through this paper I havenât even started yet.â
âMaybe you should put your phone down, that could be the reason why youâre unable to do your work,â he stated obviously. âHow much do you have to do today?â
âPhone in hand or not I have no motivation to write this paper. I know I should have more of an investment in American history but I just havenât gotten there yet,â the Brit pointed out. âJust this paper, really. Iâll likely bang it out at the last possible minute and call it a day.â
â"Hey, you donât need to apologize. You know you never have to call first.â Ezra assured her, wrapping his arms around her and bringing her in for a hug after she told him what was troubling her. "All the time.â He commiserated during the embrace meant for comfort and nothing else, âM'sorry youâre feeling like that love. S'there anything I can do?â He asked as he slowly drew back to look at her again. Stephanie was one of his favorite people at school because they understood each other in ways he felt a lot of his other peers didnât on the grounds that they were both British. While there were a lot of things that were similar about typical British and typical American culture, there were plenty that were very different too, and they got each other on those levels, which made him care for her like a friend beyond just someone he was hooking up with on the lowkey.
âItâs rather rude of me to just assume that youâre not busy,â she admitted, stepping inside. Letting a long sigh leave her lips, the dancer returned the hug, feeling even just a fraction better than she did when she arrived. Once in a while such a small gesture could help even though what started out as innocent encounters like this one turned into hooking up. âDepends. Do you think you can talk my parents into letting me transfer to a school back home?â She half joked, a smile tugging at only half of her mouth.
Sitting next to the girl who clearly wasnât working on her paper, Quentin offered her a smile. âNo worriesâ he said, as he placed his laptop onto the table, and draped his backpack over the back of his chair. âSomething got you bothered?â he asked, making note of her tone, and the look on her face. He didnât mean to be nosy but, he was very interested in what she was looking at on her phone.
Looking at the books in front of her and then at her blank laptop screen she would let out a sigh. âI just canât really seem to get anything done. I thought coming to the library would help me hone in and focus but that doesnât seem to be the case.â She glanced at her phone, âtechnology. a blessing and a curse, eh?â
