Fitz Roy, El Chaltén, Argentina. February 2015. I was going to spend my first night in the town of El Chaltén, but as I arrived, I could not calm my excitement down. With that being said, I decided to start trekking to Fitz Roy from the late afternoon. The more you step forward, the closer you get to Fitz Roy. My heart was pounding already. まずはゆっくりと一泊してから登り始めるつもりだったのだが、エルチャルテンに着いて早々興奮を抑えきれず、結局夕方からトレッキング開始。前に進むにつれて姿を露わにするフィッツロイ。もうドキドキが止まらない。

El Chalten, Argentina. February 2015.

After taking an airplane and buses from Buenos Aires, I finally arrived in El Chaltén, the starting point to the famous Patagonian mountains. Very well-known among mountain climbers and rock climbers from all over the world. You can find outdoor gears including fuels in the town.

アルゼンチンのブエノスアイレスから飛行機とバスを乗り継いで辿り着いたは、私が以前から憧れ続けたパタゴニアの山々への出発点となる町・エルチャルテン。高台から見渡し尽くせる程の小さな町だ。世界中から多くの登山者や有名なロッククライマーたちが訪れるため、テント泊に必要な燃料など山製品を扱うお店もちゃんとある。

Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. February 2015.

I didn’t have much time to explore, but its historic streets and buildings were beautifully lined as registered in the World Heritage Treaty. Approx. 1 hour of ferry ride from Buenos Aires, Argentina (if taking an express). There is one hour of time difference from Argentina, so be careful when taking a ferry back to Buenos Aires.

アルゼンチンのブエノスアイレスとの間に流れる川を特急フェリーで渡ること約一時間。その歴史的な美しい街並が世界遺産として登録されている、ウルグアイのコロニア・デル・サクラメントに着く。私は日程上ゆっくり回ることは出来なかったが、いかにも、というレンガ造りの建物は、街の中心部から少し歩いて海岸沿い周辺に集中していた気がした。時間があるならぜひじっくりと歩いて見て回ってほしい。ただアルゼンチンより一時間時計の針が進んでいるので、もしブエノスアイレスへ戻る場合はフェリーの時間には要注意。

One of my favourite places I’ve ever visited. Definitely recommended to stay more than one night if you like traditional scenery. 2 hours of bus trip from Buenos Aires.

植民地時代の面影残る街並みとアルゼンチンのカウボーイ・ガウチョの文化が絶妙に調和した、のどかな田舎町。半日しかいれなかったけど、居心地が良く、すごく好きな空気が漂っていた。訪れた土地の歴史を感じ、地元民と触れ合いたいなら、是非数泊することをお勧めします。
