If ya missed it, it probably wasnât that important.Â
Maybe, maybe not. Iâd still like to be in the know. Sweet olâ Gertie has a lot of little birds but that canât be all.

And who are you?
âAn earthquake.â
âAre you joking?â
Well, Iâm not really sure. Iâm not from around here. Sorry.
Oh no, thatâs alright. Where are you from, then?
The whole town went up in flames. It was quite a spectacle.
Ha! And yet it still stands. Quite the remarkable location.
Itâs Frostford, you didnât miss much.
Well Iâm afraid I missed my little Frostford very much.
So...what did I miss?
Leah Shaw on Hiatus from May 24 - June 14.
Character reason: Leah and twin brother Austin went to visit their parents in Florida for a couple weeks.
Growing Pains || Leah + Aiden
Aiden wrapped his arms around her lower back,  holding her petite body close to him. Leah had been there in more ways than one for him after losing his wife and even before then. As she pulled back, Aiden watched with a sadness to his eyes. What could he say? He couldnât think properly, his tongue feeling thick. At the mention of her parents, his eyes flickered back up to her face. She was leaving. Leah was leaving, at least for a while. Aiden reached out his hand, cupping the side of her face that she had wiped a tear from. âYou mean the world to me, Leah.â He mumbled the words, not even knowing if they made any sense to the blonde opposite of him. âTry not to forget about your neighborhood gentleman while youâre away, kay?â He gave her a weak smile, the corners of his lips barely turning upward to her. His heart strings gave a few tugs, not actually wanting her to go, but knowing he didnât have a say in the matter.Â
Her lips gave way to a small laugh at his comment. As if that could ever happen. âIâll be back before you know it. You know how much I hate leaving here. But I do miss my parents. You better not forget your nutcase of a friend here, okay?â The look on his face made her want to stay. But where would she stay? In the space that didnât belong to her, she knew she couldnât fill, the space that was filled with void emptiness. It was her cue to go. If she didnât walk away now, she might never leave. âTake care.â She whispered a little sadly before turning and walking away.Â
Growing Pains || Leah + Aiden
Her hands were small compared to his own, something he often noted, though the size difference was more than obvious. They were a bit cold, compared to his hands, though that was nothing different either. âLeah ââ He ducked his head, avoiding her gaze as he let her words sink into his bones. She was right, tended to be when it came to some things. About this, he knew that she was right. His wife would have wanted him to move on, but he didnât know if he could. âI just donât know how to be ready.â He admitted, lips trembling. âIâm scared, Leah.â Moving on meant opening up again and while he did that on a daily basis, it was a different kind of intimacy that he wasnât sure he was ever going to be ready for.Â
She took a step forward, confidence blooming anew. She rest her forehead against his chest. If he didnât want to look at her, she thought that was for the better. If she had to stare into those eyes of his she might just lose it too. But they didnât need the eye contact to have this deep moment. âI know. Itâs scary. But youâll find your way. I know you will. Iâm always here to give you that push if you need it.â She eventually wound her arms around him for a hug before pulling back. She crossed her arms over her chest now and kicked some dirt with the top of her toe. âI have to go visit my parents for a little while. I didnât want to leave without telling you this first. Because you deserve happiness. So...take care, okay? When I get back I better see you with a smile on that face of yours. I love...â she trailed off, thinking you you you but the word wouldnât form. âI love nothing more than to see you happy.â She inhaled a breath and exhaled with a smile, wiping a tear from her cheek that had leaked over despite her best efforts.
Picnic Date
In true gentleman fashion, Miles offered his arm for her to take. âWeâll be headinâ to the lake for starters.â He answered as he escorted her to his truck, pausing to open the passenger door for her and holding out his hand to help her climb up into the seat. Once she got herself settled in he closed the door, making sure her summer dress didnât get caught in the door or anything before moving around to the driverâs side and climbing in. Turning over the engine to the truck, he started to drive off towards the lake. âYou, little missy, get to have control of the music.â He said while offering her his iPod. âSo what made you go for the basket?â He asked curiously as he drove.
Miles was being awfully sweet right now. So sweet, she was becoming suspicious. She arched her eyebrow quizzically as she took control of the music. Her finger glided across the screen until resting upon the Maroon 5 band she likes so much. âYou like them? I wish I could see them in concert one day.â She rested the iPod on her lap as she um-ed a bit, trying to recollect what was in the basket. She knew that she had been pulled to it above the others because it had things that she liked. None of which, mind you, she thought sheâd share interests with Miles. Granted, perhaps she had always been a tad too hard on the guy all these years. But one great basket and his current gallant composure was not going to change his childhood antics. She finally grinned over at him. âHonestly, all of it. I didnât suspect it to be you. I was expecting...I donât know...firecrackers and beer or something for you.â She giggled, rolling the window down, she closed her eyes to the gentle breeze that welcome her.
We try so hard to hide everything weâre really feeling from those who probably need to know our true feelings the most.

Growing Pains || Leah + Aiden
Aiden sighed, seeing how upset she was. He had a temper that merely did not exist. He could get anger, frustrated, but to blow up, it was a rare occasion. Leah had caught him off guard, bringing up his wife in a manner that he didnât think she was capable of doing â or anyone was capable of doing. Leah would never intentionally hurt him, which was why he wasnât going to hold it against her for bringing something like this up. âLeah..â He trailed off at her name, taking a few steps closer to her. âif youâre upset, talk to me. You know how much ya mean to me.â Aiden, ever the gentlemen, took more steps toward her, placing his hands on either side of her cheeks. âYouâve been here for me for a lonâtime.â He dropped his hands, letting them fall to his side once more.Â
His words were like sharp knives, digging into her. She knew how much he cared for her. But was it in the same way she was realizing she cared for him? Right now she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either she confess her true feelings and ruin a friendship or she keep it to herself and only one of them gets hurt. She was leaning more towards the latter option. She grabbed onto the hands that had fallen from her cheeks, squeezing them reassuringly. âI just really want to see you happy. Iâm not saying that to be happy you have to be with someone. But I see you after an event with someone. You torture yourself with feelings of guilt and remorse. I just want you to know that itâs okay to move on. You donât have to feel bad about it. Life goes on and so will you.â
That was more of the problem, Iâve yet to see a single pringle.Â
Well then. If you should ever come across one let me be the first to know.
âOh I hardly doubt that Iâm the bestâor most wise. I mean, honestly Iâm not sure anyone even understands what that means.â
âBut I do. Because I get you.â
What makes you think there are other girls?
Weâve never talked much before. You âxpect me to believe there arenât other girls?
