‘i pretend i do not see,’ had been levi’s approach to whatever the hell his sisters are wearing tonight. they’re all adults now — they don’t need their brother to grimace at their choice of wardrobe around every corner. unless, of course, they come up to him with the question of whether he can fix their hair. then he’s allowed to judge and whine as much as he wants, right?
“why can’t you do it?” she has two hands, doesn’t she? but even as he’s complaining, he’s already reaching up (with an exasperated sigh that’s way too dramatic) to help rosie. it’s been a while since he’s had to do this — his mother used to task him with these things as she readied them for school — but apparently tying his sister’s hair together with a scrunchie isn’t something he’s unlearned yet.
after a solid minute, levi’s done, and it doesn’t look terrible. that’s a win. “what are you supposed to be, anyway?” harley quinn, sure, but— “aren’t you cold?” being half naked shouldn’t count as a costume. then again, if that’s indeed the case, about ninety percent of the student body isn’t wearing a costume. alright, so it shouldn’t count for anyone related to him. let it be known that levi’s fine with being a hypocrite as long as he didn’t have to see any of… that. ew.
for some reason, twin high pigtails have never been on rosie’s list of hairstyles that she’s good at. she can never get them to perfectly the right height, or one is fuller than the other. but levi had always done her hair like that for her when they were younger, and she has faith that her brother hasn’t somehow forgotten how to tie her hair for her. “you know i’m no good at pigtails, levi.” she huffs at him even as she feels him reach out and take her hair in his hands.
when they were younger, levi brushing her hair for her and doing it up into various hairstyles had always been incredibly soothing. if she remembers correctly, she even fell asleep several times because of it.
“what do you mean, what am i supposed to be?” she huffs at her brother, squinting up at him once he’s done with her hair. “i’m harley quinn, obviously, you big doofus. what are you supposed to be?” she fires back before she glances down at herself and shrugs. “what are warming charms for, right?” she flashes her brother a playful grin. “you should see who i’m matching with. i bet you’d be surprised!”
