jimin appreciates the warmth, he does. seokjin has always been one of the most comforting and steadfast people in his life, and now is not an exception, especially with all the crushing pain weighing down on him. the moment seokjin opens that doorā just takes a look at himā jimin breaks, tears flooding out like a shattered dam. by the time seokjinās got him in a hug, jiminās already choking out sobs, clinging to him desperately. āheā hyung, h-heāsāā
hoseok is gone. hoseok hurt him. hoseok has hurt so, so many people. hoseok is gone. hoseok is gone, and so is jiminās heart, and it just hurts. jimin canāt manage the words to come from his mouth as he gasps against seokjinās chest, probably staining his shirt, on the verge of hyperventilatingā all he can do is moan, only crying harder and trying to bury his face further into his shirt as if he could hide from it all.
he sees the concern on seokjinās face, when the elder pulls back to just look at him. he sees it all, and it only makes it worse, realizing how bad this all is. heās a messā just seeing seokjinās expression says that, and jimin chokes on another whimper, grip tightening on his shirt as he squeezes his eyes shut so he wouldnāt have to see it anymore. (the world still smells like salt, overbearingly so, almost to the point of revulsion. he remembers beating his hand on hoseokās chest, desperate, begging him not to say the words he wasā trying, so hard, to keep believing in what they had.)
jiminās glad when seokjin releases him, just so he canāt see that look anymore. itās too much like hoseokās expression of concern, before he realized too late what he had done. itās too much.
itās easier than he expected to just let seokjin lead him down the hallway, his smaller hand in seokjinās massive one. heās still crying, snot clogging his nose and little whimpers tripping out of his throat every couple of seconds, but he drags his feet after the elder regardless, unable to muster any feeling other than it hurts. he canāt focus on anythingā the only thing grounding him is seokjinās hand, while everything else seems blurry, unfocused. the sun is up by now, thankfullyā itās warm. itās warm, as opposed to the cold of the water, and the feeling is nice.
(hoseok was warm. hoseok was like a ray of sunshine in his life, and suddenly, jimin can no longer enjoy the heat, the brief sobriety dipping back into despair.)
changing is harder, though. seokjin is so sweet and kind, and jimin just breathes in a shaky breath when the older male hands him the clothes before turning away, always the gentleman. peeling off the clothesā which are still wet, salt and salt clinging to him everywhere, even when he tries to wipe it awayā almost results in him succumbing to hysterics again, but he manages, leaving them on a pile on the floor. seokjinās clothes are huge and warm, and jimin just waits for seokjin to collect him, standing in the same spot with a miserable look on his face. he canāt even match his smileā he canāt even try, lip quivering instead as tears threaten to fall again.
āi,ā he says, gaping for a moment before sniffling again, eyes welling in seconds, and he just takes a shuddering breath, trying so hard to keep it together. āi j-justā it hurts,ā he whimpers, vague and nondescript, not even looking seokjin in the eyes as he squeezes his own shut, shivering right there as though he was still thousands of feet under water. āheāsā hoseok, h-heā¦ā
he just canāt say it, breaking into another broken noise, free hand going up to hold his face. fuck. fuck.
Seokjin reaches out to move Jiminās hand from his face, softly pulling at it before replacing it with his own hand. Jiminās tears seem endless and Seokjinās heart is breaking over and over again because what kind of horrors must he have seen to be so devastated? He gently wipes at the younger boyās face, using his free hand to push Jiminās hair back.Ā
His hair is still wet, colder than Seokjin had expected it to be upon touching it, but at least heās got dry, warm clothes on. Itās more than a little concerning though, because where the hell could Jimin have possibly been that heās like this now? It doesnāt make sense, not when summer has yet to end- if anything, he should be burning up like he usually is.Ā
āHeās what, Jiminnie?ā He murmurs, pulling back only to gather Jimin up into his arms.Ā āDid Hoseok... did he hurt you, Jimin-ah? You can tell hyung, no matter what it was. Youāre okay, youāre okay.ā
He tightens his grip on Jimin as he moves slowly, steadily over to his couch, sitting them both down without moving the other from his lap. Seokjin keeps one arm wrapped around Jimin, twining the fingers of his other hand with Jiminās.Ā Jimin feels so fragile like this, as if heāll shatter if heās left under the pressure of whateverās tormenting him, and Seokjin wishes he could do more than watch and hold out his hand for Jimin to cling to.Ā
āJimin,ā Seokjin tries again, rubbing shapes onto Jiminās back with his palm.Ā āWhat hurts? Who hurt you?ā
Heās absolutely lost, both in what to do to help Jimin (his sweet, strong, unbreakable Jimin whoās been reduced to shaking and holding onto Seokjin like heāll disappear if he doesnāt) and in what to say beyond gently prompting Jimin to speak.Ā
āIf I could take the hurt for you, Jimin, I would,ā He whispers, pressing his lips to the top of Jiminās head.Ā āYou donāt deserve to be so miserable. You didnāt do anything to deserve this, Iām sure of it.ā
